It's my childhood favorite cake too. We always called it "kalte schnauze".i will make it this weekend for my daughter's 2nd birthday. My mom never used a loaf pan though but did it freestyle and decorated it with smarties and gummies.

Amazing recipe, although I can't make them myself, I love to learn about them and share for those who can. Also, I love that it's backed, please, everyone, always prefer backe, air-fryed or even steamed recipes, frying is utterly harmful to one's health, not matter what oil one uses! Also, plant-based versions can be easily prepared since there are now many types of plant-based cheese, not just tofu, then it'd be totally cruelty-free but of course, having no meat is already something. I've given the due thumbs-up, shared and certainly subscribed to the channel, thank you so much.

Good news!! With Brexit, Britain has left the EU protection so you can now call it a Cornish Pasty or even Authentic Cornish Pasty.

Very first time in my life I drink Mate and don’t know anything about it except a bit of its history and where if is drinked. I find it a bit confusing how to prepare it and how to use the bombilla. Tried to follow the preparation then started to drink it but could hardly get any liquid from the bombilla! Then how long you leave the Yerba to infuse? Can I make it just like any other herbal infusion? At which point do i through away the Yerba? The container is a small gourd and bombilla , a gift from a friend. Thank you so much!

Very good video. It's good to see that visitors from Britain come here in MQ and learn to appreciate local food. 👍👍 If I may, you made a mistake in your video : this coconut based dessert is called blanc manjé coco, not blanc manjé DE coco. Coco has a double meaning in creole, it means coconut but it is also another word that ppl use to designate men's intimate parts, so when you say blanc manjé DE coco it sounds that this dessert is based from that, if you get my point.... 😅

Although this might be true, that doesn't take away the fact that the owner (who is Mexican) claimed it to be a Mexican restaurant but they of course have Peruvian influences like their Ceviche dishes. 😊

I always make mine in a French Press and then pour it into a cup. I don't use the guard. I also let it let it steep for at least 10-20 minutes so it's extra strong then add honey

If that works for you, that's great. It'd be too tart for me for sure 😀 Bur I have heard multiple people now stating that the French press works well for them. 👌

Just prepared my first my first mate.🎉. How many times can you continue to add water before creating a new batch? Great video😊
@EileensKitchenStories
@EileensKitchenStories Жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, great to hear you are enjoying mate now as well. Welcome to the family 😉 you will notice when the taste gets very mild, then take the second yet dry part of the batch in the cup. But it really depends on the brand and your personal preference. Once, you would like it to be stronger again, change it. But I know people refilling with water up to 50 times before they decide to get a completely new batch.

It may be s stupid question can u drink it in a usual cup filled with hot water like any othe tea?
@EileensKitchenStories
@EileensKitchenStories Жыл бұрын
Well, technically, you could, but it alters the taste and the experience. Drinking mate for latinos is a community event, something that brings people together but also its a nice pastime. But I have seen commercial brands selling mate in tea bags so they are intended to be drunk like any other tea/infusion you know. I think it's up to you but if you would like to dive deeper into the feel of it, get a cup and a specific straw and try it the way I'm showing in this video. 😊

On the 10 dollar Australian note is Mary Gilmore. She was a fanatical Yerba Mate drinker. I have a photo of her; gourd and bombilla in one hand and the big kettle in the other...My grandmother were friends...Mary Gilmore lived a ripe old age and she said it was to Yerba Mate...Things Australians yet not know...

Hi Derek, Mate tea is usually shortly fired when harvested to ensure a crunchy and dry leaf. They are not necessarily smoked though. Maybe some brands do, but I wouldn't know.

New here been a tea drinker all my life. But never learned this traditional method. Great video. I was encouraged to change to this tea for my energy issues. Is there a therapeutic level of this per day for sustained energy as you mentioned they drank this all day. I read this could be used 20 refills per gourd fill. I made a gourd from a winter squash and I have my b...to drink from. But it's for myself and will drink all day. But was just curious if this has a medicine amount besides fill and drink.
