0:36 Austrian cuisine also called Vienniese....u just insulted 6 out of 8 Austrians, which are not living in the capital^^ Austria is a country, Vienna is a city in it - not the same thing. Cuisine in Tyrol is very different than cuisine in Vienna 4ex. 2:17 Mozart died in 1791, so the house could not have opened in 1824. 5:46 No! Austria is big on white wines (4ex Grüner Veltliner) and a few red ones (4ex Zweigelt). Beer...we have it, we drink it, but its not our alcool of choice.
@EileensKitchenStories6 жыл бұрын
Hey Tyramide Whisperwind, many thanks for your comment and your thoughts on the video. Clearly, I have to explain a bit 😊 Yes, I said it's also called Viennese cuisine which is a slip of words - it's only mostly associated with that sort of cuisine but not the only cuisine in the country. Thanks for pointing that out, I really don't want to offend anyone. 😊 Mozart and Beethoven actually played in the building (in this coffeehouse) although at that time it wasn't called Cafe Frauenhuber yet. According to my Austrians friends, beer is quite important in Austria but you are totally right, wine is huge, hence, I talk about the wine culture in my previous food fact (the Heuriger). Please keep in mind I only take 10 of many food facts of a country to display a country's food culture. KZbin for me is a community platform and I only share part of the story to give the locals the opportunity to share even more food facts in the comment section and I'm happy and thankful you did that. 😊 Have an awesome day!

4the record, it wasn personal. Other food facts, that lesser known world wide...lets see....how about the Tyrolean Erbsenwurst? If u live in the mountains the winters are long and cold. A big problem that emerges is the lack of fresh vegetables - this saugage was one of the clever solutions. Its simply Dehydrated green Peas paste. U cut of a slice, into hot salty water and u have a delicious peas soup within minutes in the middle of a snowstorm. Kipferl, Apfelstrudel and Coffee came to Vienna through the turkish invasions. The Kipfel was a sweet in the shape of a crescent moon (the symbol of the ottoman empire) to celebrate the victory. It later was adopted by the french when Napoleon "visited" (almost conquered) Vienna in 1804 and became the famous french brioche. The Strudel is based on the turkish durum dessert. The Coffee is probably the most interesting. Afte the second siege in 1685 the turks had to retreat hastily, so they left a lot of stuff behind. Among that also huge bags with green beans. One Vienniese knew what they were as he has been an agent in Istanbul, and opened the first coffee shop in Vienna. Every coffee culture in Europe derived from that. Something simple to cook for urself at home: Mohnnudeln, Apfelstrudel, Sterz, Golatsche (with a filling of choice), Grießnockerlsuppe or any type of either saviory (Semmel, Servietten) or sweet (Marille, Zwetschke) Knödel. If u want something more challenging u can go for the king of beef dishes (Tafelspitz) or the king of dumplings (Germknödel). The last one is tidious work^^

hey! i'm from vienna and i liked your video :) just one little criticism ;) the recipe for sachertorte (like the one in your other video) is not the original recipe, since that one is a secret of the sacher pattiserie. there are a lot of different recipes for sachertorte (which taste great and many even better than the original) but non of those are the original :D

@EileensKitchenStories6 жыл бұрын
Also so richtig explizit österreichische vegetarische Hauptspeisen findet man nicht so leicht. 😊
@flowerdolphin89206 жыл бұрын
Eileen's Kitchen Stories Zu viel Fleisch.
