My own dweller in 76, me. I eventually leave appalachia and explore the rest of the states. Being more or less a bystander of the main events of the other games, being just close enough to witness them. I become a ghoul 20 years after the main events and the most recent dlc of the game.

In the minority I had no issue with the ending(s) and think there are equally good narratives that show they were well constructed. I also think the original ending that emphasizes the dangers of how AI “thinks”, “acts”, and behaves has only become more prescient as we move forward with our own experimentation with such potentially dangerous technology.

When I saw the multiple side missions in IW, I thought it will be like BO2 where your effort and decisions will transform the ending of the story into variations that reflects what you choose. But nope, killing all the HVT and blowing up the ships means nothing really other than an upgrade. It feels like the dev got told that they can do whatever they want, only to find out when the management look at the work at 70% completion, force the devs to wrap it up and ship it. As it was "good enough" and campaign doesn't make that much money anyway. I love IW and still replays it to these days, but I would die for a sequel where they can make the perfect game they want.

I honestly think this was one of the best COD Campaigns of all time. The Multiplayer wasn’t its strong suit, but the story and vibes were fantastic. I honestly think this standalone story is better than any of the current games stories.

The story of the game is enjoyable and focused on sacrifice. The world building is terrible and it is not even remotely close to anything resembling a real universe.

The multiplayer is what sunk it. I played it's beta and was turned off so much by it. But I gave the campaign a chance, told myself I'd only play the first hour. 4 hours later I bought the game and completed the rest of the campaign the next day. It was very well written in my opinion, I kind of wish Kit wasn't in the game to give back some budget to make the campaign a bit longer and more time with the Mars conflict ON Mars. I think not giving the SDF much explanation was kind of the point, gameplay elements notwithstanding. I'd imagine a smaller nation who had complete isolation from Earth for decades would have developed very differently to the point that they would seem almost alien. Answering the call of duty may not always have a clear or 'good' reason either. Sacrifice and coming when called regardless of reason I would say is a central theme of the whole franchise. I also wonder if Olympus Mons was supposed to be the crown jewel and only big play Mars had since it seemed to be involved with everything Reyes and crew investigated. The writer of the campaign also played Reyes, fun fact. Also plays Varric in Dragon Age. And has writing credits for Cod games since Ghosts, and as recently as Blops 6.

Game would have improved infinitely if dialouge and ""characters"" did not exist. It is like level/gameplay designers made a great game and then lead designer and writers made a blood vow to ruin it.

As upset as I know, a lot of people would be, I personally think they should retcon the original ending and allude to the indoctrination theory being the truth. That’s the easiest way to reconcile the different endings for the new game. Then build off of the dark energy plot from knowledge gained from the remains of the reapers.
@tarekokailКүн бұрын
Perfectly incoherent, you mean. The "Dark Matter" ending was a jumbled, illogical, tangled mess that existed as half a paragraph in Drew's notes and some references in ME2 that didn't quite fit the story.
@juzoliКүн бұрын
There was never a “dark matter ending” LOL. You guys just love your own personal idea of what the ending could’ve been. But none of you ever wrote down any script of what this ending would actually be. If you’d done that, you would realize how bad it is. This only sounds good as long as it has no details whatsoever.

It seems that at the time, no one wanted to give this game a chance because AW and BO3 had burned them out on futuristic experiences and they wanted to go back to the days of WaW, the original MW trilogy, and the first two BO games. They had no idea what they had back then, since games that have come out since like BO4, Vanguard, or the new MW3 had campaigns that were absolute garbage or none at all.

It was probably because I was so young at the time but when I completed this game I almost cried. I really enjoyed the character interactions, but Mars could have used more development. I think The Expanse did a good job of showing off what a realistic Mars in opposition to Earth could look like where yes they are an equal and even have better ships than Earth but this comes at the cost of being outnumbered like 3 to 1 and lots of money needing to be diverted to the military which has stalled the proper colonisation of mars for a century or so.
@kamilr4145Күн бұрын
Yes Expanse is probably the best portray of potential Earth Mars rivalry. I also think that a big part of what made it better in Expanse than in Call of Duty is that they didn't made Mars in to a one dimensional villain. P.S. Sorry for my bad English

The SDF was always nonsensical. The player being a member of an underfunded martian militia facing off against an earth under the bootheel of a fascist government would have been way more interesting. You could be rescuing governments in exile from the world's beseiged democracies, and putting together a ragtag group of multinational soldiers eager to liberate their homelands. That said Infinite warfare had the most compelling campaign a CoD game had seen in a long time, I don't see how anyone who played it could hate.
@DecidedlyNinja20 сағат бұрын
But that would prevent the one-and-only player character from being American or British! I'm not sure CoD is capable of moving the spotlight that far off of NATO countries.

I'll add another twist to this theory: What if the Reapers, in their evolution, found out that there is a peak technological achievement that can unlock a type of "black nuclear fusion" (anti-matter nuclear fusion?) - something so dangerous and fickle, that can cause the colapse of a whole Galaxy, but, at the same time, is the true source of perpetual energy. What if the reapers reached this knowledge, deemed it too dangerous, and after that, by their calculations, reached the conclusion that ANY civilization, on it's evolution will eventually reach this same step, and can be the cause of destruction of the Galaxy? And then they decide to stop all civilizations when they reach certain stages of evolution. But since they are not fond of simply erasing them, they decide to harvest their DNA, their story, knowledge, habits, memories, etc... so they can be perpetuated in gigantic servers that create virtual worlds for their consciousnesses to live in? And thus, a "Matrix" is born.

i might be biased to have a female protagonist be canon, but the argument for Nora surviving can be made with good ol motherly rage- and, if Albert is charisma based and is almost definitely the first protagonist, then im sure a silver tongued and intelligent lawyer could make their way through the wasteland jsut fine. In fact, im willing to say that the sole survivor may do the brotherhood ending as nate, because of the mentioned military connection, whereas the speaking skills, leadership, and raw emotion needed to rally the minutemen kind of lines up with Nora
@matthewredenbaugh1110Күн бұрын
My head cannon for Fallout 4 is that the minutemen are organized and strong and act as a civilian force to rebuild civilization while the brotherhood are a hammer that attacks threats to humanity.

Imagine writing an ending where the reapers are supposed to save the galaxy from the effect the use of Ezo and the ME relays had on dark matter... by promoting the use of the relays to the exclusion of ANY OTHER TECH. I get that the dark energy ending seemed like a cool idea (for people who hated the trinary endings you had to work for), but you don't write beings into existence whose purpose runs completely counter to how they opperate. At least the rewrite makes sense for what they are doing, cataloging all advanced life before the synthetics they are making genocides them. Is it super reductions? Yes yes it is, does it have giant robots forcing the galaxy to rip itself apart despite their programming to preserve it? No why would/should it? To appease the butthurt people who wanted a fully scripted singular ending?

Very, very, very sure 'BvS' was WB's idea, as they wanted to copy 'Captain America: Civil War', not Zack's, no matter how much he liked those two comics that inspired 'BvS'.
@whiteoutgotuКүн бұрын
👏🏻 @ your conclusion That's the most important part. Storyboards for a second and third JL movie, when the first real movie (ZSJL) hadn't even come out yet, shouldn't be seen as something that was definitely happening. And again, I'm pretty sure Zack's idea was that this was all Elseworlds from the beginning.
@whiteoutgotuКүн бұрын
Was the "Snyderverse" not officially Elseworlds from the beginning?
@whiteoutgotuКүн бұрын
Bottom line: Or WB could have just let Zack - and David Ayer and James Wan, etc. - do what he planned. So much of what people hate about the DCEU wasn't even Zack's idea. While it's absolutely true that a lot of fans just didn't like Zack's tone, I'm pretty sure 'Man Of Steel' was the only movie WB let him be the creative that he is and make his own movie. Dude absolutely did not want to call the second movie 'Batman v Superman'. Non-creative meddling executives ruined this universe - not Zack Snyder. Anyway, you know all that. Nice work.
