To those still working with their lovely Kronos's and sampling, Sample Robot for PC is by far the easiest way if you want to rip sounds from other instruments. It's not free, but it takes most of the hassle away with making multi samples. It can totally automate the whole process, doing any amount of samples per key and auto looping your samples. It's worth checking out if you are serious about making samples for your Kronos and many other brands it can save directly to SF2, wave, KSC and other formats and is available in a "slight cut down" version for both Yamaha and Korg where it is focusing as a tool for either Montage/Kronos.

The sampler is the weakest feature on this keyboard. I really don’t know what Korg was thinking making something that should be simple and straightforward so overly complicated and cumbersome to use. My hat goes off to those that torture themselves using the sampler on the Kronos.
@AudoraAudioАй бұрын
@@jae6220 I largely agree with you. If I do any real sample editing, it's in something like Audacity, and I import into the Kronos for final assignment.
@jae6220Ай бұрын
@ that’s my strategy too. I like the sequencer it’s a great tool if you have audio you want to turn into midi via the sampler and take advantage of the sequencer features. But I always cut my samples in something else. I use wavlab.

What voices are you using for the intro on the right hand?
@AudoraAudio5 ай бұрын
@@chrismanlawe2528 Well... That's a bit of a complicated answer. Synth ROM wave files aren't standardized. I mean, a saw wave is pretty standard but when you get into things like choir or vocal sound, they're different from one synth to another. (Yamaha, Kurzweil, Roland, Nord, etc. all have different sample ROMs for their synth) This means a "vocal" sample is only a name, but doesn't really mean anything; it's just a descriptor of the sample but doesn't define the sample itself. Herein lies the issue: I've built these sounds myself. I've used various filters, samples, etc. to get the results you're hearing but if I said "Vocal layer #6" it means nothing. I hope you understand what I mean here. I could tell you what layers I used but even if you have a Kronos, you still need to know filter parameters, envelope settings, volume settings, pitches, and so on to even begin to get close, and that's only true for a Kronos or Nautilus which has similarly named samples. I know this is a bit of a non-answer but I hope it's at least informative!

Oh by the way, do you read notes? Musicnotes has the notation for the intro so you can play both the Cello part and the intro part perfectly. You don’t even need to buy the notation, the first page is free to just screenshot. The rest of the song is easy.

Nice video! I have played this, to include the guitar parts on a mini stage in front of about 100 people once about 25 years ago. I used a similar setup, but a lot of what I played was sequenced with a MIDI sequencer, and fed into a Korg Wavestation A/D, with my parts played on a small controller along with the guitar parts. Yes, you definitely need a decent sized controller to play this accurately.

How can I get a program with the effects into the wave sequence it sounds bland without that ... other wise it's pointless
@AudoraAudio6 ай бұрын
That's not quite the point of wave sequences. A wave sequence happens at the HD-1 waveform level. It changes the underlying waveform in a specific manner. Once you've edited a wave sequence, it becomes a waveform for all intents. The effects that you're asking for happen at the program level (IFX/MFX/TFX) and aren't a function of the wave sequence itself. Definitely not useless, but it probably doesn't work how you want it to. Depending on what you're trying to do, there's likely a way though.

Dave, fantasic video. I freshly bought me a Nautilus, the Kronos sounds do fit ! But I have two questions: How do you change from one combi to the next one ? Did you assign a foot switch to step the combis up ? And the other one regards the pads. How did you assign the chords to the pads ? I have also the nanopad but Nautilus dos not support virtual pads (grrrrr). Did you configure the chords into your nanopad via an editor?
@AudoraAudio7 ай бұрын
Hey! Congrats on the Nautilus, it's a great machine. Funny enough, any sounds that use the engines that aren't the HD1 engine are compatible, but if you have a sound that's programmed in the HD1 engine, they will work... But: the sounds are offset. Like... In the Kronos, the saw sound might be on 1541 but I'm the Nautilus it's 1885. So Kronos sounds CAN work but the HD1 stuff needs adapting. About the sound switching: Go to Global mode and look for the Foot switch, you want to set it to Program Increment or similar. It will allow you to step forward through the sounds in program, combi, or setlist mode. The pads are a touch more complicated... The Nautilus is missing some of the functions of the Kronos. Karma, for example, doesn't work the same. (Stephen Kay, the genius behind Karma, is no longer supporting it. I don't think it's licensed by Korg anymore so they had to drop it and fall back to something else.) Some other functions are also missing, but I didn't realize the pad support is gone! In the Kronos, there's a dedicated page just to the pads (a legacy function of the Korg Oasys) so you just plug in the Nanopad and it works. My friend has an Nautilus, so I'll have to ask him about that and see if there's a workaround. Let me know if you have questions, I'll help however I can! ([email protected] to get me directly)

@@AudoraAudio Thank you Dave for the swift response, really appreciated. I purchased the Africa sound from your website and digged into your sound setup and it is really amazing, you even setup a timbre for single notes to get that flute, bell whatever sound. I would have never figured out this. But it sounds really like the Africa sound ! Regarding the pads: I read all the forum entries but I think there is no way to get around easily. The way I will follow up now are the RPPR patterns. The downside is that they work in a sequencer mode only. But in a sequencer mode you cannot use a footswitch to change the song. puh !

Having owned the KRONOS2-88 for four plus years now, I've discovered the German grand hidden in the samples, but not listed in any of the programs and I made a new preset based on that. The Berlin grand sounds okay, but has a lack of character, sounding more like my daughter's piano teacher's 1939 Baldwin grand. G#4 sounds like the felts are too dampened. By contrast, the German grand I found and put on my preload has that classic Steinway bell-like clarity and articulate sound. It is by far, my favorite piano of all the instruments I own.
