I hope this was helpful! I definitely recommend checking out the video I talk about at the end. Way too many people are using harsh chemicals to unclog their drains and it really does not work. Check out the following video to learn how easy it actually is, and they will stay unclogged for a very long time! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqqsgqmhhtajoas

Kudos to the people who have made installing modern faucets so easy compared to the major project installing the old style was.

How about showing old style faucet removal, that's where homeowners get into trouble

Another great and informative video. Waiting for a video on how to deal with the OLD fashion faucets. Thank you again for sharing your experience and tips.

I've replaced a couple faucets in our house including a new bathroom faucet just last weekend. It is easier than you might expect, especially with modern faucet kits. The most difficult part for me is usually removing the old faucet and loosening old water line connections without damaging anything (it is usually fine if you're careful). The latest faucet also came with a "clicker style" drain which is pretty slick too.

You neglected to mention the hard part - keeping the faucet from rotating when you are underneath tightening the retaining nut. You need an extra set of hands or a way to keep the faucet from rotating.

We bought a new Moen faucet this AM to install. No problem getting the old faucet out, it had 2 phillips head screws holding the mounting plate in place. But when I went to install the new one lots of problems. The major one being that the tool used to tighten the nut is too long to clear the old 4" drain line. I finally cut about 3" off of the end of the wrench, leaving just enough to clear the bottom of the threaded section of the faucet. Drilled 4 new cross holes to insert a short phillips head screw driver to torque the tool with. Hopefully this will be the end of my 4 hour ordeal. Way to tight between the sinks, wall, etc. I couldn't even fit one of the "old school" plumbers wrenchs to get hold of the lock down nut.

Another informative video. Avoid all faucets with a pull-out sprayer. They all leak where the hose connects to the sprayer. You have water in the cabinet.
@joshm33423 ай бұрын
I've read reviews where the diverter valve failed, and the faucet would not give ANY water until valve replaced.
@harveypaxton12323 ай бұрын
@@joshm3342 When the homeowner pulls the sprayer out and twists it around as washing down the sink the connection will loosen. It is just a flat rubber washer which flattens over time also.

I've had more cabinets ruined by Insinkerator Badger 5 garbage disposers than anything else. Their failure mode (by design) is to leak.

Good video. Your supply lines looked rather loose coming out of the wall??
@russjohnson63963 ай бұрын
Agreed! It looked like the tube int the wall was CPVC, and pretty floppy. Wish you had mentioned to hold onto the valve body to keep it from wiggling.

How great is the risk with modern single-lever faucets that eventually the valve will leak internally between hot & cold, causing "crossover"... possibly even while the faucet is turned off. (Crossover is typically cold water flowing into the hot water supply, because the water pressure in the cold water supply pipes is typically greater than the water pressure in the hot water supply pipes.) Crossover can be a serious problem in apartment buildings & condominium buildings, where many units are served by the same supply pipes. Many units can be affected -- the hot water might be only lukewarm or erratic -- and the source of the crossover can be hard to locate due to the need to enter & shut off many units.

I've never seen it and my oldest single handle faucets are 20-25 years old. Moen and Hansgrohe
@brothermine22923 ай бұрын
>grayrabbit2211 : Thanks. But anecdotal evidence can be misleading, because it's a small sample that may be unrepresentative of the whole. I would prefer to know the overall statistical evidence. Crossover in plumbing is a real thing. Yet it can't happen with two-handle faucets, because if either (or both) of the two valves in a two-handle faucet leaks, the leaked water will instead come out into the sink (where it will be visible to the residents). Other possible origins of crossover besides single-valve faucets are single-valve showers, and clothes washing machines that use a single valve to mix hot & cold water. In my condo building, the original fixtures were all two-handle but many condo unit owners have replaced theirs with single-handle faucets & single-handle showers. Crossover is a problem here. I've seen proof: When one of the pair of riser pipes that supply hot & cold water to the 2 bathrooms in my unit and to the 14 bathrooms in the 7 units above mine is shut off (so that plumbing work can be done in one of these 8 units), water from the other riser pipe of the pair crosses over into the pipe shut off. For instance, if the cold water riser pipe is shut off and I open the cold water valve of my bathtub faucet, the cold water drains from the riser pipe into the bathtub, but instead of trickling to a halt when the riser pipe has completely drained, hot water starts draining into the bathtub. That implies crossover somewhere in the 16 bathrooms, including during normal conditions when neither riser pipe is shut off, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The crossover's origin can't be in a two-handle fixture (like mine are) so it must be in a single-handle fixture installed in one of the 7 units above mine.
@brothermine22923 ай бұрын
>grayrabbit2211 : Are you sure you would have seen it if crossover occurred in your single-handle faucets? The effect can be subtle during normal operation.

Looked the water pressure was low. Is there a restrictor in the faucet?

I have a leak from under my faucet, it left water damage. Water damage from hell. Im so stressed right now. Apparently it looks like it’s been leaking for a long time and I just noticed the main thing I’m worried about is mold. It’s all under my wood flooring under my cabinets. It destroyed my cabinets. This is going to be an expensive repair ,only if I caught it on time.😢😢😢😢
