This absolutely doesn't work. The pin doesn't seal the hole. The butane just leaks out in minutes. I used a thumb tack to break seal and a brass pin to seal, niether works. This is a shit tutorial, you can hear the butane leaking after he has sealed it, and that's why he doesn't file it down.

Thanks so much! I've always wanted to be able to do this (not only for the savings), but because in trying to make lighters smaller for affordability (like the cheap kind 7-11 uses) it is such an environmental waste of metal and plastic to keep throwing them away when the amount of fuel inside isn't even worth buying. I've found #BIC lighters to be the best value and are always fun to buy with their artistic designs.

Not all that efficient. I feel that it would work better if you'd take the valve from a refilling lighter and then epoxy it in the bottom of the nonrefill type .

Well, I can't find these tiny grommets or washers or O-rings or whatever they are.... ANYWHERE! I wish I knew the exact size. I guess I can measure the nozzle on my gas filler. I'll have to search online.

No grommets? Cut a flat rubber band to one long piece, poke a hole at the end of rubber band, slip it over the nozzle, repeat.

I just remembered something You press the red lever the gas and then you press the butane torch into the nozzle you do not poke a hole in the bottom of the lighter new refill from the top you have to engage the lighter ignition button and hold your butane firmly pressed against the brass fitting and it will fill up very fast allow a few seconds for drying before you strike or you will have a hand on fire like me just a second ago buddy I'm telling you Jack 🔥 buddy I'm telling you Jack schitt😂

Something to consider, if you are into it. A few decades ago, in a Joke Shop in Paris, I bought a Bic lighter that squirted water when you depressed the gas valve. It used a standard disposable syringe without the metal needle to force water into the empty Bic, thus compressing the air in the Bic to propell the water. A talented person like yourself should be able to figure out how that Paris joke shop tweeked the lighter. A warning though.... Back in the States, I was sitting at the bar in a rowdy bar when the guy sitting next to me asked for a light. After I squirted a blast of water in his face, he laughed and poured his pint of beer over my head. 😂

Can't you simply use a flat thumbtack instead so you don't have to do the snip and file steps?

Bic lighter is not a such a hit thing in here since there's many cheaper lighter exist, but my known friend gave me it before he moved somewhere unknown, i kept it as an artifact but maybe i could use it because it has been in his hand for couple of years with that bump underneath it, now i know what was it for and i'd like to use it, thank you
