this reaction was the most intellectual and it brought so much more to the table than I thought it would. I never thought of the possibility that guts was an exception to how Griffith viewed the band of the hawk. it shows even more that all guts had to do was explain why he was leaving and maybe Griffith would confess his obvious romantic feelings for guts. granted, guts would have turned him down and left anyway, but I think Griffith would not have made those mistakes with the princess because he would have still been depressed but there would be an understanding of it thus a more composed Griffith. I think he might have not wanted so desperately to make up for his first loss. I think all of the apostles including Griffith still have their emotions. the fact alone that (partial spoiler) they can make more than one sacrifice at separate times proves that fact. By "in return for your flesh and blood" that implies they care about the people they sacrifice even if it not to the degree of friend. This is shown in the black swordsman arc in the manga. I'm pretty sure most people would sacrifice their pet goldfish or two be granted a wish especially if they are about to die. though Griffith is still in the wrong, he is a great character... but guts is better.
