Thanks for taking my question and giving a thorough answer! Seeing Austin’s hitting transformation between 2011 and 2012 was definitely one of the highlights of the 2012 season.

Thanks for giving my question it’s run time! Love having Ajax on the pod. Ps. The ovation is after the play was reviewed and the crowd got to see it in slow mo. Gives you chills hearing a Boston crowd cheer for the other side

Question for Austin: You had a massive mechanical shift in your swing going from the 2011 season to the 2012 season, which resulted in one of your best seasons. Can you talk about your approach in the off-season to change your hitting approach, what Lloyd and others advised you to do, and what routine you devised to get more successful at seeing the ball? Thank you!

I have zero faith that Pizza Boy will spend the necessary monies to obtain any meaningful Free Agents, or to extend Skubal. I think last years success has Pizza Boy thinking that we can catch lightning in a bottle with minimal expenditure on his behalf. Baseball fans know this is not a recipe for sustained success in MLB. 1 year, 15M or less has been the mantra for any signings; Harris has his hands tied. We were told that when the time occurred to spend, Pizza Boy would cough it up; he just never said HOW MUCH (or Little).

Question for the mailbag : when you made one of the most impressive catches ever at Fenway park leaping over the right field wall into the sox pen. Did you have any interaction with Torii Hunter about that play? Might go down as the only defensive play to muster an ovation from the opponent…

Questions for mailbag: 1. Why doesn’t the MLB have a firm salary cap to balance competition? 2. Do you think the Tigers have any interest in signing (the Padres) HS Kim Comments: Not a fan of signing Torres, which basically seems to be a swap of Torres for Torkelson. Banishing a recent #1 overall pick who hit 31 HR in 2023 for Torres makes ZERO sense I’m only up for signing Bregman ONLY if he can be had on a short term deal. Santander is a no. Signing him automatically moves to make Carpenter a full time DH and completely taking Torkelson out of the picture

I'm a tork fan but it's time to let it go man. Aside from 2 and a 1/2 months, his overall career so far has been absolutely trash. I'm not rooting against him because I actually want him to succeed, But you have to open up your eyes and realize he's done here. I would love to be wrong though. I do think it's weird that you are against the Torres signing. You are putting a solid bat in the line up. He doesn't strike out. He's not a perfect player. That's why he's only making 15 million. And it's a 1 year deal, so there is virtually no risk. I don't understand how anyone could not love this deal. Santander I'd only take on a 2 year deal. His stats are very top-heavy. Would I be upset if we signed him, Absolutely not... It's just that he doesnt check many boxes on the tigers need list. Bregman checks many boxes. Sign him.

How many position players currently on the team are very likely to over 3 war on BBR next year? I'm not convinced the Tigers actually have good position players. I Think it's more hope that people have rather than projecting based on data. I'm very confident in Riley. That's it.

I'd much rather trade for Suzuki than sign Santander. As far as Parker goes if he hits 240 and plays great defense it's a win

It's no secret that small market teams like Detroit have to be more careful financially because they lack the resources of large market teams. Which is why I've hated the Yankees since 1961. We just got burned on the Javy deal. To be consistently competitive we have to be frugal. But we have to get while the getting's good too. So it's a balancing act. A deadline for free agent signings sounds good to me.

Love the pod. Question for Austin for the mailbag: Does he remember the game in Chicago in April of 2012 where the grounds crew in Chicago messed up the batters box and had it too far forward? One of the weirdest things I’ve seen watching tigers baseball for sure!

Sign Flaherty back if he wants to rejoin the Tigers. Give Baez one last chance, since he's costing this team 25 million this season, but if he dogs it like he has been doing, send him packing, if for nothing more than the fans' benefit! This is a young, hungry team, which is far more entertaining to watch than some late-career Cabrera rerun. Forget Bregman. He's not signing with the Tigs anyway. Get another cheaper option if need be. You'll be fine. Fire those young players up and watch them tear the division apart! Truth.

Bregman is a one or two yr player- his hitting is going down the tubes, hes a non momentum swing which will not have longevity, he was likely late on the fastball last season and had to guess alot walking less than 5% of atbats- not what Tigers want or anybody. Reflexes and batspeed diminish typically in late 20s so then mechanics become paramount at that point. For example, Judge,Ohtani and Greene all have momentum swings, Bregaman does not- swings from a hands still position- wont work much longer if at all. Its not about stats-Mechanics usually dictate stats but the low walk rate shows a demise.

Hoping Harris keeps his word by still giving Tork the preseason to show hes turned the corner. I'm convinced Tork will hit 45 home runs a yr for Boston (who im hearing wants him) if we give up on him. If we are going to be a cheap tiny market team then we need to be a beyond PO patient with our 1/1 draft picks... just my .02

Gleber Torres addition makes little sense. Torres defensive metric is poor. Yankees who seem to know talent didn’t value him. Tigers already had a 2nd base in Colt Keith. This doesn’t solve the real issue: THE HOLE AT SS. That’s a real issue. Javy Baez sucks.

Bregman got the correct market value contract offer from Astros, anything above 160M is over paying, and has a lot of risk. I like Torrez to one year contract, he needs a big year to get his goal, almost no risk for Tigers. I keep thinking Colt will get back to 3B, but needs time to get his shoulder back in shape.

Wait, did he say that Colt Keith only receives a $3M incentive bonus if he were to win a league MVP !? Man, winning an MVP on his current contract, should be worth upwards of a $25M bonus!
