If you were good at this shit, maan it used to draw in a crowd of onlookers to want to stand & watch you play, back in the day! The degree of difficulty and fight choreography you have to be creative with and use on the fly against enemy thugs, of the grimiest sort, all of whom might be packing a pipe bomb, a dagger, a lead pipe, a tow chain, nunchukas, a bow staff, shurikens, throwing knives, a PISTOL, or one random henchman who keeps getting up and coming back to fight suddenly just might go berzerk to unleash his wrath on you to not even allow your character he just knocked out to even get his footing and begin beating you unmercifully! They can place you in a full nelson and hold you while another character punches you out, or vice versa if you play in tandem with Billy and Jimmy together. They even have combo takeout moves that require both players to attack the same enemy thug together. Throw anything not nailed to the ground at people, push thier heads down into a Thai clench and thai knee them right in the face as much as you want, then hip toss them of a ledge to let them fall to thier deaths. This what we did for fun in the 90s, kids 😂

Why doesn’t he pick up the bats or the whips? I remember that being a thing when I played this in the 80s. He picks up the knives and uses them, but why not the bats and whips?

From what l remember the Bats and whips gave you limited moves and you couldn't deliver the Elbow when you used them ...

On the corner of Court St. and Franklin in Flint, MI was a 711 type store called "Sunshine" in the 80s. I would hang out there at 6 years old playing this game. I was beyond obsessed with Double Dragon. The NES version was quite disappointing.

I never got to play this. I'm not sure I recall even seeing it but it looks like a bit of downgrade from the DD1, which was always going to be a tough act to follow. I don't get the last fight. Who is he fighting, a ghost version of himself?

I played this first at our local fairground, must have been in the mid 80's. I was never very good at it and lost too much money trying to be. I used to nick my dad's foreign coins (which were well below the value of UK currency) to play and some of them used to work. He had a stack load. I was obsessed with everything about this game. The muscly men and the end boss music used to terrify me, that's probably why i kept losing haha. The fair was only there for a week in the summer, which was obviously saved me a shit load f money and probably a good hiding haha.

When cody fight eddi.e in the final moments , shoot the gun, i see one player wait eddie.e go away from cody and shoot him. But cody trow the knife and block all the bullets and hit ediee killing him. try it too. is fun.

There's an Ikari machine at my local arcade, but the screen is all messed up. They also have Commando, another one of my favorites, but the joystick is broken so you can't move diagonally, making the game pretty much impossible to play.
