Jane eyre character book one individual opinion of others not really romance giving women a voice show them ok stand up to masters the serve so that means there a main book written from roschester interactions with others.

Anyone else notice that the bed-on-fire scene is a metaphor for sexual desire. The dubbed cries are totally sexual. These two actors are my very favorite representation of this wonderful book

I do not understand the meaning of Anna Chancellor here. Is she saying that to see money and having it as very important in marriage is a wrong way to think of what marriage is? If so, why? Surely, the mother and her children would benefit more by each penny. Is Anna Chancellor arguing that ladies should marry for looks and the heart and not at all for material family security? How would this be better?

first scene is merely comical, I’m glad that was cut out. Second scene was important tho, but according to book she didnt want to kiss him after she realized he was married and this laying on the bed together is farfetched..still they could left it there

I have a different view of Jane-- not I suspect a popular one--it is almost as if she is an angel of death or of at least destruction --read the book again notice how she finally finds tre love--from helen burns to Bertha Rochester notice how many people have to die as she makes her way upward in the world and Rochester well she cannot write it directly but he must be unmanned before he becomes suitable in effect castrated or reduced to depency No, under the guise of meekness Jane is toxic--it is what makes an otherwise pedestrian book interesting-- it is not about men and women's equality (Though Bronte may have been a Chartist. For equality we must look to Jane Austen whom Bronte despised.)Note also the elements of racialism in her descriptions of Rochester-- not a pleasant book. Groovy production though 😄

[2:21] "I would advise you to uproot your prejudices, but I fear, sir, there would be nothing of you left." Oh, that's just lovely...and it demonstrates the power of words. It's so much more effective than "f--- you," "f--- you back." 😎🍻

This is the one and only gripe I have with this otherwise perfect adaptation: the separation scene was nothing, absolutely nothing like it was in the book, where Rochester is totally unhinged and their fight is passionate and desperate and it's so intense. The makeout session in this version is hot and sweet, but it misses the point of the original scene entirely. Jane and Edward's love is not all sweet and cuddly, it's raw and fierce and consuming. That's why Jane had to leave when she did. Not because she was about to be seduced by him, but because she was about to lose herself.

Jane Eyre 1983 has the closest version of the seperation scene from the book. Although Timothy Dalton went over the top at some part but he portray Mr. Rochester's extreme mood at that moment. You can really feel the bitterness of their seperation.

The story of this family is depressing as hell. They were worse than the Kennedys. People & factions were after the Kennedys. The Brontes were just cursed.

Background music competes with narration. Difficult to concentrate on words, with that music sort of blasting over the voice. I was interested in this topic, but found it necessary to click off. Did the producer of this video ever try to listen to the narration, with that background noise running through it?

It's been my experience that working for a living is being someplace you don't want to be, doing something you don't want to be doing, and being with people you don't want to be with. But that's what you have to put up with if you're going to be self sufficient and not a burden to others. Bramwell just didn't want to have to work for a living! When he lost his chance to have an easy life after he failed to get a rich woman to marry him, he became a hopeless drunk as a result.

I’ve seen a picture of a perfectly OK and pretty looking blonde haired blue eyed Mary Ann Evans so I’m not sure where all this talk comes from that she wasn’t pretty. None of us nor any historian now were alive when she was and will ever get to see what she looked like in real life so who are we to judge her?

@@robe-bi2bz But have you seen the photo/painting of her on Wikipedia where she has curly blonde/ginger hair, blue eyes, a black velvet dress and a white frilly collar? That picture shows her to be perfectly pretty looking you have to admit?

The articles Spencer published might have had nothing to do with Mary Ann Evans at all. He came across a lot of people in his life and wrote about lots of things. If he'd ended his relationship with her why would he still have been brooding over her? Just a thought. I've seen pictures of a perfectly OK looking blonde haired blue eyed Mary Ann Evans.
