I know this is an old video, but everything you said sounds very much like what people said about Star Wars Galaxies before its shutdown was announced. I'm not saying you're wrong about its future, but there's always a bigger fish. Just as Galaxies was ultimately shutdown to not compete with SWTOR, the same thing could very much happen again with the role reversed.

Still is. Just resubbed after a year. Was a sub since 2012 before that. Operative is such a great class. The voice acting is phenomenal. The class stories still stand strong. Perfect. My only wish is, when the game eventually dies, the devs turn it into single player with Cartel Market items given over to vendors. I'd gladly pay 200 bucks for that to be able to explore the game forever. 12 years in, and my Legacy completion is still only 30something %

There was an undeniable magic infused into this game. The launch back in 2011 seriously pulled me away from Azeroth for a few years as I made a go of it with WoW-transplant guildies and new friends over on The Fatman. This game was great through Hutt Cartel expansion and then some. I'll forever love playing through the original content for the first time as a Dark Side Bounty Hunter. I loved being a humongous asshole in space. Sadly, the game fizzled out along with the guild I'd been in (everyone eventually floated back to WoW or to parts unknown) , but I still feel this thing calling to me. I've changed into a much more casual sort of player since then so, honestly, just getting to do rad Star Wars stuff with a good story would be dope as hell.

Nice video, I'm honestly more on the RPG side of the spectrum and I didn't particularly care about the MMO aspect until recently, but when I think about the fact that I will never be able to experience open world PVP or base raids in this game I get pretty sad.

I was 9 years old when I started playing back in 2012, and SWTOR being my first MMO I did not have the easiest time (i.e. thinking levelling up from 33 to 35 during a double xp weekend was a job well done, getting stuck on the first quest on my inquisitor because I didn't know how to use the map). Quite sad that I missed out on raids in the earlier days. Oricon had to have been my favourite update. I was a huge Dread Master fan and tried my hardest to get the battlemaster gear to look like them, although the Crest of the Dread Masters eludes me to this day. I met a lot of cool people but didn't manage to make any lasting friends. I think you're completely right with the exploration aspect. Some of my fondest memories are of my first time trudging around Dromund Kaas, completing all the quests, scouring for the champion tier enemies. The atmosphere (and general chat) of that planet hold a special place in my heart. I remember being so excited to get new abilities at the trainer. I reckon it took me a few months to get to level 30, by which point I was desperate to get force storm since I had seen it in the class progression video. One thing I dearly miss is the old companion system. I loved it when companions had unique abilities - Khem Val's lightning backhand, Jaesa's force lightning, etc. I particularly miss old HK-51 (what a great questline, by the way) and how all of his abilities worked together. He's just not the same now that they're spread over his dps and tank roles. Thank you for the nostalgia trip!

The agent storyline was #1 for me too. It’s such a fun story. Also, the female agents voice, I could listen to daily. Lovely. I enjoy all stories. Smuggler is my least favorite though.

I was 16 when I found SWTOR. The KOTFE extensions were already out, but the comminuty I found... was amazing. I was part of a RP guild which I adored, I still see them around, there was magic in this game. Lately it's becoming a farming simulator, make a pie here, cook for the hutts there, ect. I miss the big expensions, not the small ones, and SOR is my favorite, when your class mattered, I could play it with friends... it was great.

I convinced my parents to buy me the Collector's Edition for the 2011 release. I would have been 17 years old at the time. I had been in a pre-launch guild of semi-roleplaying Sith players and we were so incredibly hyped. I started as an Inquisitor and intended to be the most cringe chaotic evil character ever. My only regret in my career playing this game was that I wasn't able to experience all these things in the early days. Soon after launch, my guild kicked me out due to me having to focus on school and only being able to play on the weekends - in general I was not able to be available a ton. They eventually disbanded. When I got to college and had a little more freedom, I came back and played a Light Side Warrior - to this day I consider this my main, next to my Powertech, and I've carried his roleplay so hard that he's a Guardian combat style now. It feels like a character that is uniquely mine, and I always make sure to do every piece of content with him, even if I don't stick with him for that sojourn of playing time. Shadow of Revan was peak for me because of the storytelling element and my character felt deeply immersed in the world. I've been playing off and on since release, and I recently downloaded again to run through more class stories. I'll admit, I was never like you where I enjoyed open world PVP. I have been a WoW player for the longest time and have played classic and retail, and I've always hated open world PVP because of higher level campers. If there was a way to guarantee it was only same level players, it would have a different feel - so maybe WoW ruined it for me in that regard. I've always been the guy who prefers the RPG element of SWTOR, although I do run casual group content like MM FPs. The current story is painfully garbage, I'll admit. This Hidden Chain nonsense is the most agonizingly slow and boring story arc in the game without question. Nevertheless, and despite the fact that I got the Legendary achievement years ago, I still replay some class stories to try different alignments, if nothing else than to soft-DnD my character through again and have a set of characters in my legacy with their own unique experiences in the SWTOR world. The class stories will always be there - even in their watered down and sped up leveling states, they are still absolute quality. If you've never played SWTOR but are into choice based RPGs, all 8 of these class stories (easily over 120 hours of content combined) are completely free, can be done entirely at your own pace, and will immerse you like no other game. It's honestly unbelievable that we get to have those stories for free. I don't think I could ever put SWTOR down permanently, no matter how bad the story gets. I of course respect your viewpoint and why it lost its magic to you - I would feel the same way in your shoes. This is your first video I've seen, but I loved it and hope you continue to find happiness both in and outside of games. And lastly, you made an excellent point about the memories - they can't be replayed and that's honestly for the best. Life is meant to be enjoyed in the moment, and memories should be used to inspire us to recapture the feelings in the memories, not the memories themselves. Carry it with you forever, because you'll always have them.

Great video! If you want a different perspective. I played the game on launch day and still have on and off over the years. Ive never once been a part of a guild, grouped with a friend, talked to a single person. Ground any daily's or done any operations. I was 14 when the game came out and never made a friend off of it. I think it is a shame, a real shame the MMO lifeblood of the game, the social aspect. Was fully dropped in 2015 by KOTFE. But the experience i have now is the exact same experience i had in 2011, minus the over-leveling. The game is still very much alive for solo players. I think that is a problem. As the game would be alive for solo players regardless. My wife is starting tonight, first time playing. So for her she has 8 class stories and all the expansions worth of content. My only concern is she will over-level by killing regular mobs and turning in side missions. I find it very sad that the state of SWTOR has been so dark for so many for so long. But as a casual solo player. Next to nothing has changed.

As for me I mostly play it for the story content. The multiplayer offerings like operations are just a nice extra for me. I played it for several years and as for the extensions I loved RotHC, SoR, KotFE and KotET. I even liked Onslaught but since then as for me the story content quality gradually decreased… But I‘m still playing.

Ashara's entire concept is just BAD. They should've had her be more like Jaesa in that you can either turn her to the dark side or stay light, not this weirdo mix between the two that doesn't really work.

I'm one of those players that mostly played for the single player stuff, but I do miss some of the multiplayer features. proper 4p heroics default veteran flashpoints slow-flying travel (weirdly) to name a few. I never much got into the more involved stuff, which basically required guilds and audio headsets. What I liked was the low key, short-notice, team-based stuff. Crucially though, I appreciated being locked out of certain content. It was ok that it was there for others. On a related note, a big problem for me is what they call "quality of life improvements". Some convenience is nice, but other changes just undermine the game experience. That being said. I do like the stories of the later expansions (probably more than the base game). The main issue is the lack of the 8-branch class storytelling. That was always the biggest selling point for me. I also think it's fine if games change or, for that matter, die. We shouldn't expect them to keep going.

I had this exact same feeling with Destiny/Destiny 2. I played Destiny since 2016 and loved it. I joined a clan at the beginning of 2020 and it was the greatest thing that happened to me. Since lockdown happened I wasn't able to be around the few friends I had outside of gaming, so having a group that I love and still keep in touch with to this day was amazing. It was sad watching the game grow into something unrecognizable. After the last expansion, myself and almost all of my clan have left the game somewhat permanently. It honestly broke my heart knowing that something I loved and that gave me such amazing friends was a shell of what it used to be. This was an awesome video and it really resonated with my own experiences.

The first time I played this game back in 2015, I started off as a Smuggler on Ord Mantel (I think that's how it was spelt), and was getting my butt whooped by enemies in heroic missions. Because I had no subscription, leveling up was very difficult and taking on heroic missions or even flashpoints was pretty much impossible for me, but during those hours of grinding I found out other people where also in the same boat when exploring local community hubs. In an act I have never witnessed in any other MMO game, we had all banded together and went on from Ord Mantel, to Coruscant, then Taris (oh god) and so much more, sticking through the experience together to the very end, enjoying everything each planet had to offer. I remember fondly waiting to get out of school and rushing to get home so I could join up with everyone and continue on our journey, making more friend along the way and taking on even bigger challenges. When you say SWTOR has changed, you are absolutely right to such a degree it saddens me to even think about what new players are now joining into, and whom will probably never get a chance to experience the community back then like we had. I genuinely miss those days and I wish to this day I knew what I had, for I would have cherished it even more then, but as Dr. Seuss once said, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Thanks for the vid my friend, cheers to the good ol' days.

You calling yourself "red pilled" explains why this list cares so much about marriage; when really it should be about how the romance progresses and the personality of the companion. Kira is interesting because of who she is, how you and her character interact, and the conflict of wanting to be together while staying true to the Jedi ways. Mako and Vette I see more of as kid sister/mentor dynamic and that's not a fun romance in my opinion.

As my self a 2011 player, watching all my guild friends quiting the game all my progression raid team gone, miss all of them. I agree shadow of revan is good for the story, but for operation stand of view, is kinda doesn't make sense, bcs you just beat a super badass Sith called The dread masters in NiM and now you got beat up by bunches of pirates 😂😂 I hate that back in the days. I still came back to the game sometimes, but now just for class story, I do kinda miss the story some time. Chreating new character then lvl up, deleted start other class.
