The shop was busy and the work had to get done. Filming slows down the repair quite a bit. The repair is quite simple and the noise was gone with new sway bar links.

I learned very early (I was 16) that a battery can have a short. Here is the story. I haven't run into it since but I have the knowledge if the symptoms appear again on another vehicle. Car: 1951 Studebaker 6 volt system. A friend left his lights on and the his battery was dead. I had jumper cables and thought I'd help him out. His car was 12 volt. At the time I did not know cars had different voltage systems (infrequent today). I hook up the cables and tries to start his car and it only clicks. Re-adjust cables. Still no go. I tell him sorry, I guess my cables are bad. That act of kindness cost me more money than the car was worth and the various mechanics that attempted to diagnose why when I shut down the Studebaker the Amp gauge would go all the way to "discharge" and drain the battery if I didn't unhook the cable. ALL of the mechanics, including a shop specializing in electrical problems, stated it was the voltage regulator. In all, 4 voltage regulators were put on the car and none of them solved the problem. Whenever I shut the car off I had to pop the hood and disconnect a battery cable. I finally saved up enough to buy another car, a 1959 Morris Minor (which is Positive to ground!!! but it is 12v). I sold the car for $60 to a classmate. One day he comes into school and says my dad and I fixed the electrical problems with the Studebaker. I was astonished and ask what was it. He said all we did is replace the battery and it hasn't been a problem since. When I jumped that car evidently I damaged the battery causing an internal short. Wow, who would have thought?

SOLVED my U029E with "Exhaust Fluid Service" and "Reduced Speed". For the past month I have been working on this issue on my 2017 Silverado 2500HD LT 6.6L. Tonight I purchased my 3rd NOX2 (downstream) sensor and IMMEDIATELY EVERYTHING WAS FIXED. So, what happened? Why did the previous 2 NOX sensors NOT work? A clue came from GM Parts Direct as the original part number was listed as "DISCONTINUED". Previously we had purchased 2 numbers matching NOX2 sensors 12676706. So why did these sensors not work when the one see image below immediately worked? CHEVY! They programmed out part number 12676706 from the computer and programmed in 12718676. 12718676 CURED OUR U029E and "Exhaust Fluid Service" and "Reduced Speed" issues. Companies are still selling NOX2 part number 12676706 because it was the original device DO NOT PURCHASE THE DISCONTINUED NOX2 SENSOR 12676706. INSTEAD PURCHASE THE 12718676 PART NUMBER. However, this all started from a Trailer Brake Controller ALARM FROM HELL (which was a shorting and grounding wire harness).

Do you think this could cause a P0299? My truck when started sounds like it stuck in a regen....absolutely zero boost or power. Sometimes it will just come around and about snap your neck off accelerating when it is having a fit. Very intermittent....but is getting progressively worse. Truck went in to dealer immediately first engine cel (literally the next day). They told me the excessive regens were from a dirty air filter....😂. Still an issue and is getting worse by the day. Again. P0299. Sounds like either the exhaust brake is on or in a regen. Symptoms seem like something is sticking. I dont have a scan tool...but the second time the cel came on....I was leaving work and stopped at parts store for a scan. Any I put would be much appreciated. Don't think it is bad turbo. When it is not acting up....first gear from dig deliveres 30 pounds...and through the gears it hold between 22 and 25. There is a pretty hard refuel and stumble between I think it is the 4 to 5 shift....this is likely the torque management doing it's thing but being over shot or misinterpreted by ecu as egr is sticking. Lastly. I know on the 19 to 22s at least.....the egr cycles a few times after after shutdown to clean itself...this is still doing its thing and sounds as normal as it has the life of the truck. 2022. 2500. 51k miles. Please help....SOS!

1. Ensure that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software is current, if not, flash update the controller before continuing diagnosis. 2. Check the air intake system for any leaks, pressurize the turbo plumbing system using 20PSI of air supply, then check for leaks with a soapy water solution. Pay careful attention to the charge air system rubber hoses, often times these will develop small cracks that can leak but are hard to pinpoint. 3. Check the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve operation. Try running the actuator test to see if the valve moves. Note: Shorted EGR valves can damage the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). 4. Last one I had was a faulty EGR valve

@fixingcarswith15thstautomo36 after another couple hours of reading and really bringing full circle the symptoms.... The lag is something to be reconed with...I got the issue to replicate to the point I drove it half mile down the road and back home with no boost until I was about to pull in the driveway then I came on like I hit the truck with a bottle. About half hour before that....I was driving the truck using the exhaust brake and almost like I stole it to see if anything would stand out. The thing that stood out....the exhaust brake too is intermittent at this point. No other codes for egr or dpf, just underboost. It stands to reason, either the actuator for the veins is dying a slow death....or the veins are carboned up. I dont hardly work the truck like it should be worked, but it gets up to operating temp plenty on my commute to work and typically has plenty of time to start and finish a regen in a single haul. The bad side....I dont get the truck up on highway much anymore with it being summer and kiddo not in school. My route is much different during the summer. As far as PCM flash, injust picked the truck up Friday of last week for recall service (you know....EPA over reach reprogramming) and the DPF sensor install. Oh....and the touch screen was replaced for the second time....oh...and the power steering is leaking again. I greatly appreciate your response and have taken a screen shot of the information you have shared. I am going to get the truck up on the highway the next couple days and exercise the exhaust brake to hopefully clean up the exhaust side of turbo. Of that doesn't straighten the thing out...I am going to dig into your list one by one. And I will be going to the forums to share the symptoms and fixes. I'm not alone I'm sure....expensive truck....low miles....out of warranty....fixing it myself. Thank you sir!

@fixingcarswith15thstautomo36 I will add....I had an 05 F360 with the "dreaded" 6.0 (I had really....little issue with mine and it was a darn good truck and had the 6 speed). That truck also went through ots far share of scratch your head turbo stuff eith the veins. I ended up pulling it apart, cleaning it, put new seals in it, cleaned the EBP tube and truck ran fine until I sold it 120k miles later. I forgot about the stuff I did on that truck and the weird erratic turbo/boost issues until reading about it on the cummins forums. Same deal.

Did the trailer brake controller throw a code on the DIC? My 2019 HD is throwing a service trailer brake on the DIC and service engine light is on. Took it to Autozone and scanner only shows fuel pump communication loss yet engine starts fine. Not sure if this could be the same issue with mine. I changed the trailer brake controller and the module above the spare tire and still no change.

The vehicle in the video was older and did not have a DIC. If you’re getting a TBC fault AND. you have a loss of of comm with FPCM you have comm bus problem between the ABS module and the FPCM. Check the connector at the FPCM. You’ll need a wiring schematic but you want to check for power, ground, 2 comm lines and a wake up signal. If you have those. Check the pin fitment. If the female pins get spread too much they won’t have a good connection to the male pin. Do you have 60 ohms on the can bus?

I have a OBDlink MX+ scanner that indicates that O2 upstream sensor temp is 200 degress hotter than downstream O2 sensor. Also the graph of upstream sensor does not show but the downstream does but graph gets steady a little high. I have read so many times that the CAT out is hotter than input...if CAT is good..
