You can water bath foods like applesauce, fruits, tomatoes with a large pan. Just make sure the jars are covered with water by at least an inch at all times. Use extra rings to put on the bottom of the pan as a rack. Stock pots are good for this, or use smaller jars.

Vote for Trump everyone knows the country was in better shape for things that you’re talking about in 59 years old I was born in 1965 I’ve seen many presidents but Trump did the most good the second one was Ronald Regan to boost the economy and make it easier to live !!

What’s really funny is that if you are lucky enough to have a savings account with enough to live off of for even a few months, oftentimes social services will count that against you when you need basic help to meet your family’s needs

People didn't used to go out to eat very often when I was a kid in the 1950's. In the summer we ate lots of fresh fruit. In the winter we had soups and casseroles. Tina, Al's wife

Hey girl I took and old stale 401k out and bought a off grid cabin in a national forest area it was a turn key deal it’s got a solar system and water catches and propane I’m going to live there when I retire in a couple of years I may sell my other home or rent it out I haven’t decided yet living at the cabin is bill free pretty much just the yearly taxes for both houses there all paid off too I’m just ready to cruise thru life and enjoy myself

In California it always averages out to $25 an hour but only the hours work not including what times. If you include the whole time you shop and wait then the hourly rate averages at $20. They have this down to a science now. From that you still have to pay your own taxes, gas, and have no unemployment insurance or benefits. That’s a side hustle 😂

I feel like these studies about poor people never really touch on how many people are on Disability now. I got sick and had to live on my savings for months. I went from making nearly $60,000 a year to no income at all with my savings dwindling. I now have to figure out how to live on about $400 a month after rent and utilities.

Can you customize your isles that you like to shop first on the list when you shop? first start at Produce, deli, dry, drinks, frozen last? I feel a lot of scrolling up and down would be annoying...

I have a bread maker so I just throw the ingredients into my bread maker and it will mix it knead it and raise it! However I use my loaf pan to cook it! We have six 1 month old chickens and I am looking forward to fresh eggs everyday! We are also looking into getting rabbits to use as food as well. We don't have a huge amount of land not quite a 1/2 acre but we are trying to make the most of what we have to be self sufficient! My husband is making a she shed for me but it will have many uses. We will be able to hook it up to solar and heat it with wood plus have the gutters to catch the rain water. These are all in case of things happening that is out of our hands like a storm making the power go out etc. Especially in the winter! I find it baffling that the average American household has less than a weeks worth of food on hand. I think that is really scary!

Good morning! Is your name Katie? I love this video!!! Yes! Cooking from scratch is a lost art form! It amazes me how many people have no clue how to cook. Plus all the junk in the premade/packaged food. I do not know what bioengineered food is but I am pretty sure I do not want to eat it! All those premade pie crusts and grand biscuits in the roll have it in them. I have also noticed that the bread I got from the food pantry and still have from 2 or 3 months ago has not molded. It is so weird. I know that the breads I make mold if we don't eat it fast enough. What are they putting into the food. I was talking to my sister in law in California about it and she noticed the same thing! For me it is scary! I am glad I know how to cook and I am looking forward to learning about sour dough!

Good morning from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! Your property and surrounding area is beautiful. I can see why you choose it! We just moved to the UP in order to get away somewhere quiet and affordable. We have been here for 8 months now. We bought a livable fixer upper for cash without seeing it in person. I am liking what you did with the raised beds and the compost bins and potato boxes. We have a lot of down tree branches and wood etc. that was left on the property. One of our biggest problems is keeping the wildlife from eating it!

Several years ago some friends n I formed a (food) co-op . We got a storefront. Had to have electric. We bought lots of food n bulk like 100 lbs beans 100 lbs rice n peas n green beans n so on. Like if you wanted 2 lbs kidney beans you scooped the 2 lbs out n weighed it wrote on the bag what it is n weight and pay cashier. We also allowed up to 50% of cost of food to be worked off. In the store. Some would bring something they grew to trade for what they needed. Like a bag of green beans washed to trade for kidney beans or whatever. The food sco-op plan can help u beat the hi cost of living. We also had a bulletin board where we shared work. Like if u needed plumbing work done trade for some mechanical work. N so on.. now this could speak internationally. Such as. The rich under Reagzn got a temp tax break (that is still in effect today) UT has cost our National Debt '$29 Trillion. They used the money to move our industry to China. They were supposed to use it to create jobs here but Reagzn lied he was spokesman for Corporate America. Moving to China expanded the rich profit margin n break unions/ Middle Class. If we formed Co-ops to have everything IN HOUSE no Ceos all profit equally shared we wouldn't need bring any inefficient rusted industry back from China build it here. Use MONDRAGON AS THE TEMPLATE to follow. Look it up on internet. Co-ops are the way to go
