I'm unable to find where to edit the channel app in the iOS app. (I have homebridge installed on a Mac, so maybe that's an issue?) I can find the srcoll list of stations to choose from, but can not edit them or rename them. Otherwise a great walk through on how to set this up

are you trying to change them from the home app? if so, choose the apple tv tile, tap the cog wheel and scroll down to rename stations

It should be noted that this plug-in absolutely does not work if you run Homebridge on Mac OS. The dev made it so that it only runs on Linux, nothing else. It requires OpenSSL and Mac OS uses LibreSSL.

Actually have a scene setup in HomeKit using the plugin from your video to open the show. Then created a personal shortcut on my phone that activates that scene and the opens the Apple TV remote on my phone. Works like a charm! THANK you!

Thank you for the tutorial! I am new to Homebridge running on a Raspberry Pi 4. I tried for hours yesterday to get this plug-in to work with no luck. Uninstalling and restarting repeatedly. I got as far as entering the pin from my Apple TV into the url provided, it loads, but then asks for the pin again. The logs show it keeps trying to validate credentials but can’t. “Encountering a TimeoutError when attempting to execute request 36, specifically during _receive method in the pyatv library” unable to communicate to AppleTv (both are on same network and plugged in via Ethernet). Forums suggest the issue could be from the latest tvOS18, and the Mac IP being formatted differently? By chance, have you heard of this issue or know of a solution? Many thanks!

Hey, I had this same problem. Turns out it was because I had the Apple TV password protected. Once I turned that off and limited access to people on the network, it finally worked!

honestly...i try to avoid using it unless it's for a very specific use case since it can be a hassle to troubleshoot. i prefer native HomeKit devices. but i use it for my eufy security cameras to toggle the security modes from the home app via scenes, very niche use case but i love it. and now the Apple TV plugin makes my life so much easier in automations and has worked great.

@@AdamsTechLife Yes I agree with you but native Homekit is not there yet. Even outdoor camera nothing with native homekit. Now i’m trying different hub with Homekit to help me with the automation.

Grrrrr - why can’t I see apps in the settings - I saw them when I first added it - btw - I use a Yamaha receiver, you can use a setting there to control your volume with the Apple Remote.

You have to go to the Apple TV device > settings > devices > Apple TV > settings. It is a bit hidden but this an issue of the home app, not the plugin.

Made automations regarding content playing or being paused half a year ago, had to disable them because every f*cking streaming app turned my living room into a lightshow due to autoplaying trailers. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Adding delays might do the trick 👍🏼

hahah!! if you don't like the auto play, you could disable that entirely. but if you like that, the delay action is a great tip!

@@AdamsTechLife It depends, sometimes I do want to see a trailer to decide on what to watch, but somehow Netflix started thinking a random 1min clip from the most boring scene of the movie is a trailer. Maybe I'll try disabling autoplay or adding a delay one day, thanks for the inspiration! 😂

for me it's not finding the Apple TV. I just have the one. when it starts to discover, this is what it shows - Child bridge process ended. Process Ended. Code: 1, Signal: null.. any clue what's the issue here and how to resolve this?

I've tested this plugin with 3 Apple TV's and haven't seen that error message myself or doing research. maybe try disabling as a child bridge? it sounds like it could be running as a child bridge. you could maybe try removing the plugin and re installing?

Has this been improved in recent months at all? Used to use this, but never could get it working reliably with Apple's TV and Music apps. Switched over to Home Assistant and used their AppleTV implementation, and it's been way better, with more possibilities.

i've only been using it for about a month now and it's worked great and it's had a few updates the last few weeks. i use the apple tv app heavily and works great! i haven't used HA though

@@kasek4164 that and a million times more ; just for a small example say you press play on your Apple TV your lights in your room dim you press pause your lights brighten you open Netflix they turn red open Hulu they turn green, etc you can do any number of random combinations of stuff it’ll even let you make Google Home speakers work with AirPlay (1 not 2 tho)

@@kasek4164 yep.. you can do pretty much all of this with the Apple TV integration in Home Assistant as well and probably a lot more in addition... its a very powerful system but can be a learning curve to get it all set up with some of the more complex features.
