Hello! Thank you so much for your video-it was incredibly inspiring to watch! I have several Minolta cameras and lenses, and I love shooting on film, but I’m considering getting a digital camera to have a bit more flexibility with timing and reduce development costs. I’m a jeweler, and I adore this Minolta macro lens for photographing my pieces, so I’d love to keep using it. For that, I was thinking of buying a secondhand Sony A7 II. I’m not a professional photographer, so I get a bit lost with so much information. That’s why I wanted to ask: do you think a Sony A/ II it would be a good option in 2025 to keep using my Minolta lenses? Or would you perhaps recommend a different camera model? My budget is somewhat limited. Thank you so much!

Hello and thank you for your feedback! Glad you found the video inspiring. It's great to hear that you love Minolta lenses and you enjoy shooting film! I love film and have been shooting a ton of Tri-X in the past few years. Regarding your question - if you want to get an affordable full frame mirrorless camera, the Sony A7 or the A7II are both excellent and quite affordable these days, since they are the older models. They both have 24 MP sensors which will be plenty for most people. The only reason why you might want a higher megapixel count is if you are planning on making large prints of your work. But if that's not the case, both the A7 and the A7II would be excellent companions. And the great thing about these full frame Sony cameras is that you can find a ton of cheap adapters for almost any lens mount! That way you can try a plethora of vintage lenses! I hope this helps. Cheers!

You adapt this to an APS-C camera, right? I guess you won't see all of the flaws that you would see more of towards the edges of the frame with a full-frame camera.

No, I adapt all my lenses to a full frame camera - Sony a7iii. This lens is amazing even on a full frame sensor, which is why I was amazed by the quality from this zoom.

i have had a problem with the lens put the cocking shutter back, and put some paper inside the grove has in video push the lever back but it only opens up a fraction. not sure what else i can do, any suggestion. thank you
@VintageOptiks
@VintageOptiks 9 күн бұрын
That happens sometimes with these old leaf shutter lenses. What you can do is take a small screwdriver and gently push the leaf shutter blades so they open up completely. But don’t force them because you can bend them easily. Also try cocking the shutter a few times and then releasing it. The blades might be stiff and need some movement. Hope this helps.

Bought it! 🤗 Incidentally: I already have a Minolta MD 50mm 1.4, but apparently the focus ring needs a new lubrication. Do you have knowledge or experience as to how extensive / laborious and expensive that is? I would hate to condemn it to a "live" on a shelf, but if the repair of the lens I got for less than 50 bucks cost me 200, I'd rather buy another one, and perhaps learn on that one how to do it myself myself, next time.;-)

Nice! I hope you'll enjoy it! Regarding the focusing helicoid on your Minolta MD 50mm f1.4 - repairing that can be a bit of a process. If you don't have experience fixing lenses it's best to get it repaired by an expert. But I know that those services aren't cheap, so I don't know if it will be worth it to you to spend another $100 on a lens that only costs $50.

Because of this video I went out and purchased this lens. I intend to use it on my Konica Autoreflex T3. I picked up a mint copy for $389. I also own the 24mm f2.8 and that lens is also outstanding. So far I've been really impressed with all the Konica lenses that I've picked up. I also recently picked up the 70-150mm for $14 - it was a steal for that price and while it's not the sharpest lens it has really interesting character and versatility that makes me take it along with me every time I go out to shoot. Thanks again for a great video and you also have a new subscriber.

That's great you got the 21mm Konica!! You would absolutely love it! Shooting it on the Autoreflex T3 with your favorite film would be a lot of fun! The 24mm f2.8 is also excellent! Konica made so many gems. Even their zooms are fun to use. Glad yo enjoyed the video and thank you for subscribing to the channel.

@@VintageOptiks Yes. I really love the T3. I also picked up a TC-X as well for $40. That might be my street shooter along with the T3. You are so right about Konica having some real gems of lenses - cameras too. I also own the Hexar RF - probably the best film camera I've ever owned. They also made some incredible lenses for the M mount.

The Celctic 135 costs less and has some extra aberrations and character which I prefer. Some of the Celtic lenses in the US are optically identical to the Rokkor counterparts aside from coatings. The Celtic 135 has a 4/4 design which is different it's a bit softer but I really enjoy the look

I noticed there are zero PenF to Leica M adapters? Is that because the distances are not possible to meet the M criteria? What a cool video!
@VintageOptiks
@VintageOptiks 17 күн бұрын
Yes, that’s correct. The flange focal distance between Pen F and Leica M is too small and doesn’t work for an adapter to be made. I’ve seen some people do their own conversion by removing the back of a Pen F lens and modifying it to accommodate Leica M. But that’s a bit more complicated of a solution. Anyhow, glad you enjoyed the video.

im csuper stoked 4 this minolta 35mmf2.8 rokkor. or tamumar 35mmf3.5, or meyer optik 35mmf3.5 leibiz. Its just on a fuji xe4 with the adaptor extension, takes away the small form size handling of the camera. i use kipon/iberit 35mmf2.4. Its the only quality 35mm manual lens that i could find, that sot of matches the vintage look image with relatively small (

If I remember correctly, there are more variants of the MD 135 2.8 with a modified optical formula of 5G 5E and it is supposed to be the sharpest. I have three of the second MC PF version with lens hood and they are excellent, I also have two MD variants, I never took them apart but I think one has 6 elements and the other 5, they are all very good including the F3.5.
