If those are the only 3 choices your team members have then that’s messed up. Pay for good quality in ears. A guest preacher will request $10,000s worth of amenities but the laboring levites only qualify for $60 headphones. 🤦🏽♂️

Agree with most of this but the reverb…well I should say certain reverb. Nothing muddies up mixes like 2 electrics both with raging storm cloud reverb. You just make a point earlier in that video that “all the little intricacies you hear by yourself does not translate to the mix”…well the same applies for reverb. All that reverb builds up in a mix and just makes the mix sound washed. I’d 100% rather listen to bone dry guitars than 3 electrics all with their own weird space and pattern and Tera echo reverbs doing different things all at the same time and making a mess of the mix. But overall these are solid tips, especially helping the FOH / LS engineer…that goes a long ways in any genre and any venue, not just church.

I've been a long time believer that the mix eats your effects. So you may think that you are way too wet but in the mix it dissipates. The old proud declaration "I'm not gonna use excess verb and delay like everyone else" falls flat on its face in practice. There really isn't anyone else on the team that has the ability to add ambience like a guitarist unless you have a massive soft synth setup
@aleksandergrzybowski8899Күн бұрын
This is spot on. I sometimes play with piano players, that use the raw piano sound for every single song and don't feel like the song needs something more. Guitar can fill that space easily.

I play in a large environment and our live sound is massive. Something I've learned over the last year is to not be afraid of gain...like a lot of gain. As long as you stick to dyads and triads, it's actually going to really fit nice for big stage set ups. And you can create some high drama with a volume pedal and a great lead tone going into the buildups.

I've been part of a worship team since the '90s and have even traveled across the country. There is no specific "worship tone." You don't have to sound like a hipster or U2 to play worship music. Ambient reverb is not a necessary component of worship music. Some artist who write worship music use a lot of reverb some don't.

Good point. I’d say the insane washed out reverb is actually more of an anomaly for most professional bands in CCM. It’s mainly just a byproduct of bethel and their direction of guitar tone and nearly every player and their little brother wanting to copy it. Someday they won’t be a thing and church players will go back to tried and true tone setups

I use the stomp XL on my board. While I don’t use it for any effects, it’s always therefore effect. I do use it, however, as the midi clock and midi controller for my whole stryfecta… I don’t think anything else can do all that it does come from silent stage amp sims to Midi control to Swiss Army knife. The HX stock is great too, you just have one less snapshot, and you typically need to add additional foot controllers for it as well.

Another tip, related to the headphone out tip: If you use a stereo to dual mono cable on the output you get stereo output on the TONEX One.

I'm thinking of using Tonex One to replace my amp, so I don't need to lug an amp or two to church. Do I just plug my pedalboard into the Tonex One and then from Tonex One to a DI or what to go to FOH? I'll bet this has already been explained somewhere. Do you know where I would find that?

@HeyWorshipLeader - Outstanding, tutorial! I’ve been looking everywhere for more info about the POD Go Instrument/Line Level question, thanks for your comment on that! (at 12:00 in your video) - QUESTION: There are probably hundreds of videos about using HX Stomp and other Modelers with ToneX, but almost no content at all about using the POD Go with ToneX Pedal - Is there any chance you could make us POD Go users a video about how to set up and dial it in with the ToneX pedal? Either way, Thanks Again! Liked and Subscribed.

The HX Stomp is great. Hook it up to your laptop via usb and you can control KZbin. Stop, Play, FF, etc. It’s great for practice when you are trying to learn a part. Stop the vid, go back and rewatch all with your feet…really cool stuff.

Command center alone , sets its apart from any other device that i have seen. It is the midi brain of my dual synergy preamp rig. It fills the gaps of my voodoo gcp. Also go try to find another device that allows two completely independent impulse response loading capabilities. Even stand alone impulse response loaders dont offer the features that the hx stomp or hx effects offer. Believe me i looked. Thats why i own an hx stomp and an hx fx. I also agree about the tonex. It sounds good but horrible to navigate compared to helix.

I think it's worth opening the discussion for the used market. that really changes the narrative quite a bit in regard to options and also abilities. I can appreciate the HX Stomp, but I do think it's starting to show it's age, and after really playing heavily in the Boss GT world, the conversion and lack of 32 bit float in the modeling arena is heavily undervalued. Would be open to talk or hear your thoughts about it too though.

Thanks for the video. What do you think, if I were to use it for music producing, would the KZ DQS or the KZ ZSN PRO be the better choice? Accurate sound is more important to me than bass. Thanks in advance.

I switched to an ACS1 for amps but my HX Stomp ain't going nowhere. The acs1 is in the effects loop of the hx and allows me to rout and rearrange effects and signal chains, tuner options snd other utilities. Still a great option for running direct.

Use the HX stomp for guitar and bass. Got an amp, no problem. No amp, no problem. Plug into an frfr for busking, no problem. Need a few more buttons, get a Stomp XL. Need a volume pedal, get the floor model. Great piece of gear.
