It's carnelian , NOT rose quartz
@adventures-with-joe4 күн бұрын
It's definitely quartz and not calcedony, so it's probably just a quartz with iron causing the red hue

I find agates that look like those too. I can typically find those in sandy desert washes.

The colors on the blue/gray/red are gorgeous But the orange wins for crystal structure and further slabability. (I think I may have invented a new word.)
@adventures-with-joe12 күн бұрын
We could further shorten it and say slability 😁

Hey Joe! I live in Omaha Nebraska, not much for cool rocks around here but we absolutely love traveling as much as we can to feed our passion for rocks. Been wanting rockhounding KZbinrs for a long while now, and you are quickly becoming one of our favorites. You’re genuine and not afraid to leave footage in of you tripping or being silly, I love it! That is truly what people love to see! You are funny in a dry humor kind of way and you comment on things around you in nature and animals, which makes your videos unique as well. 20-30 min videos are the best, the sweet spot, and the least amount of cuts the better in my opinion. One thing about watching KZbinrs is they all have something unique about them, so keep doing you! Our favorite KZbinrs are Tapp in the American west, rugged rockhound, agate Ariel, agate dad, currently rockhounding, wayward Woodward, agate angler, Utah rockhound, and Adventures of Shadow. Hope this helps! Can’t wait to see more videos from ya! :)

Thank you for the kind words! I was recently in Omaha for a week and made an attempt to go to the river there. I ended up finding a small stream along a tiny deer trail that had gravels but was disappointed to find the Missouri River to be quite muddy (also the water levels were quite high)
@shaymom2812 күн бұрын
@@adventures-with-joe you are very welcome! Yeah, Missouri doesn’t really have anything.. Platte is supposed to but so much of it is private property and it’s just so sandy, I’ve never had any luck finding anything. Omaha is a great town for sure, but no good for rockhounding :(
@adventures-with-joe12 күн бұрын
@@shaymom28 does the Platte not have public access points like at roads or parks?
@shaymom2812 күн бұрын
@@adventures-with-joe it does in just a few spots, but it’s just sand, never found rocks. My next idea is to river float down the river and stop at a few places actually in the water and see if there is anything, but from a distance still just looks like sand lol.
@adventures-with-joe12 күн бұрын
@@shaymom28 gotcha, I've heard the water levels have been really high anyways

That yellow one. What type of agate is it? Does it have a name? I’ve found so many of them.
@adventures-with-joe14 күн бұрын
I think the yellow is staining from external minerals

What makes it a “ghost agate”?
@adventures-with-joe14 күн бұрын
It's just it's ghostly appearance being that it's pale and colorless usually
