So East Germany was a huge prison? Shows that for East Germany, the Third Reich never ended til Soviet era ended. Under repressive regimes for forty five years!

Americans are the most destructive army that has ever existed and yet they see Nazi Germans as monsters. Let’s not forget they drop two atomic bombs on innocent people killing , kids, babies, old people. They killed more people than Germans ever did.

Mysterious fires? After they were empties first I would think, especially as a supposedly lost painting resurfaced a few years ago in Paris.

Great videos! That’s an excellent view of the Humboldthain tower behind you. Don’t normally see that view bc which captures the scale of the building perfectly. I also agree about the stupidity of destroying these buildings. They were modern marvels, whose destruction was just vindictive vandalism.

Finding stuff on the ground in Berlin is true while there with the US Army Berlin Brigade 12/88-12/92 in the old doughboy city found a old tank round while digging a fighting position and the same in the Grunewald found a old MG42 covered in a thick oiled tarp in fairly good condition that was shocking and of course we had to call the polizi that was heartbreaking 😂. We usually found old stuff you be amazed. The best 4 years of service and my life I consider Berlin my second hometown.

The day we mourn the deaths of committed communists whose beliefs led to the deaths of hundreds of millions then you should mourn Nazis whose beliefs led to the deaths of 'only' tens of millions...you are mourning fanatics either way...however we all know that the Left is blind to its own crimes...

When my brother & I visited Berlin in 2008 we managed to get inside the Humboldtian Flak Tower. We were walking around the outside when a very helpful local man told us about the tours & referred us to the booking office at or near the Gesundbrunne station. Although the talk was in German it was amazing to be inside this iconic structure. The level of damage inside cause by the post war destruction of one half was fascinating yet at the same time frightening but of course everything would be risk assessed before allowing official tours.

Who was the last person to hold that handle & drink out of that cup? As you say, the remains of people's lives but also hundreds of years of Prussian & German history in its long lost buildings.

Amazing. As you highlighted these 18 months ago it wouldn't surprise me if "Mutti Merkel" didn't have them all removed as her parting "Gift" to the nation.

I lived in Berlin for several years too and I think the obsession of my countrymen with fixing everything to shiny standards is actually destroying the historic monuments. I found a railway bridge over a street on the former road no. 1 (to Königsberg), in the east of Berlin, where there were no edges, every pillar was round from thousands of bullet impacts. And I'm sure my countrymen 'repaired' that. or will do so soon. Madness! These are monuments!
