Fascinating, amazing details and very well presented. Chilling when you think it’s really not that long ago.

Yes. I remembered I was a 1st year university student when the wall came down. I was in the entertainment room when I watched the news.

Very good! I’m reading the book right now as a matter of fact. There’s not a lot of people on the streets there

As I listened to this story of the people in Berlin after the war, I could not help seeing the two groups of Germans that existed after the war. Don't get me wrong. I'm not talking of East and West Germans, but of those who survived the war and those who died in the war, and l remembered Hitler's remark after Fredrick Paulus' surrender to the Communists at Stalingrad, to the effect that Paulus preferred to go to Moscow rather than ascending into eternity, which actually applies to all humans, but especially to the Germans in those times, in which many had in fact opted to ascend into eternity rather than continue in a world full of hatred and suffering and humiliation and uncertainty and lies, not to mention the destruction wrought on their material world. As Christians most Germans must have believed in eternal life and heaven, yet they chose to suffer all the deprivations this world can throw at a human being instead of having eternal love and happiness in heaven. Digging holes and tunnels to escape from one hell hole into another hell hole. Mean while those who have chosen eternity, have eternal peace in heavenly places. Not remembering a thing of what they had suffered on this earth or what those who were once their fellow countrymen, were up to after the war. I suppose that is what we call 'life' on this planet?
