Well, it's very hard to address that you are breaking the law. United is allowed to refuse issuing boarding pass if the plane is overbooked. But they are not allowed to refuse service after passenger has been issued boarding pass and is sitting in the plane. Airlines are common carriers and have to abide by laws regulating such businesses.

Melissa, thank you for the video. I am part of an executive committee of seven leading a 250 person organization in the midst of a crisis now. We do not have a communication strategist and the industry we are in would not be willing to invest in one. So executives are left to their own resources and knowledge. The success is hit or miss. Look forward to watching more of your videos.

I'm sorry to hear you're faced with a crisis and I hope this video has helped, though it really just is the beginning. There's a lot more information, along with the ability to receive coaching, advisory, and support at Crisis Ready Institute. I hope our resources help you further. Here is the link: CrisisReadyInstitute.com I wish you the very best.

I chose United Airlines case study for my PR- crisis management assignment. Ofcourse, as an ineffective crisis management. I was so obsessed with this case study, that I wanted to know what should've been done, do's and don'ts.And this video helped me alot in a short period of time to understand better, Thankyou..
@MelissaAgnes2 жыл бұрын
You're so welcome, Akshaya. I actually go deeper into this case study in my book, where I discuss the Crisis Response Penalty that United suffered as a result of ineffective crisis management. You're right that it's a fascinating case to study and learn from! Thank you for sharing your comment here.

Hi Ahlam, that's a great story and a fun story, though a little long for me to answer here! I do share the story in my book ("Crisis Ready: Building an Invincible Brand in an Uncertain World") and in a bunch of podcast interviews that you can find here: melissaagnes.com/press/ I hope this helps!

Melissa, thanks so much for the gold mine of valuable information in this video and on your website. I am a worship pastor working on my doctoral degree and am currently taking a class on pastor care in grief, loss, and trauma. I have been tasked with writing a first hours action plan for my geographical area (Florida...hurricanes). Would your crisis ready model translate to this sort of endeavor, or would you suggest something else?
@MelissaAgnes3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad to hear this TEDx Talk served you. In response to your question, absolutely! The Crisis Ready Model is designed to serve this type of initiative (amongst others) and the book, "Crisis Ready: Building an Invincible Brand in an Uncertain World" will give you the roadmap and answers you're looking for. Let me know if you have any questions along the way, I'm always happy to help. Best wishes in this important mission of yours! Melissa

@@MelissaAgnes Thanks for your quick reply. I forgot that I was messaging on our church account. My name is Christopher Garrison, btw. Uncertain world perfectly describes our society today. I think your model easily translates into a hurricane preparedness model and beyond for non-profit organizations as well as for corporate and public safety applications. Thanks again.

@@FaithBaptistChurchTitusvilleFL It's great to virtually meet you, Christopher. You're absolutely right and the book is designed to support you through the entire process... plus, myself and the Crisis Ready Community (crisisreadycommunity.com) are here to support you, if ever that would be of help to you.

I'm so sorry that your course brought a depressing tone in your world, Michael. There is so much opportunity in being crisis ready, on so many levels, and I'm very glad to hear that this TEDx Talk helped bring you that perspective. It's not something to be afraid of, but rather something to get ahead of and use as a way to connect deeply with the humans that enable an organization to exist and thrive. If ever I can answer any questions or guide you to any other materials, please reach out.

Could you do a video on cancel culture? And how it has influenced your work? After I saw the Carson charity being canceled and shut down. I really felt like this was the beginning of something horrible. Is it manageable with planning? Or are the risks so random it isn't?
@MelissaAgnes4 жыл бұрын
The risks aren't random. They're entirely foreseeable. You're not the first person to bring this up so yes, absolutely, I will do a video on this in the coming days. Stay tuned. (And I encourage you to subscribe so you don't miss it ;) )
