Just bought a Square Neck Tricone and do not know where to go from here and need your help. I am so confused with what tunning I should use. It is in open G Taro Patch right now, DGDGBD thinking this is a Hawaiian tunning. Now I just discovered the Lap Guitar videos I have been watching are DOBRO, GBDGBD. Then I found someone who says he uses ''A-Highbass the early version of the infamous Dobro tuning that in the early style of Sol Hoopii used. I have .016 to .059 strings on as National Guitar told me to do for open G or D tuning. Do I use the Dobro tunning GBDGBD or open G, DGDGBD or A C# E A C# E turned down that I cannot figure out so I do not need to buy special strings?? Thank you!!!

Just bought a 1931 Tricone and have .016 to .059 strings tuned to Open ''G'' Tunning. I have no idea where to start or what I am doing with this new style of playing. Are your lessons with Tabs and in Open ''G'' tunning? How do your lessons work? Thank You!

Hey Eric, sorry for the late reply. Please write me an email at [email protected] and I can give you some guidance what you should do as a beginner in that style: best -sebastian-

Hey Eric, yes, get a Tricone. Open G or A are both great for that kind of instrument/music. You can find more info on my website:hawaiian-steel-guitar.com/home

@@HawaiianSteelGuitar Just bought a 1931 Tricone Number 3. Should be here in a few days. Had them restring it with 16 to 59 strings in the Key of Open ''G'' tuning. Have no idea what I am doing. Will your lessons help me out with that tuning or do I need to use your Highbass A-Tuning? Would like to stay with the open ''G''.

There are a lot of songs I would love to hear from the 20's through 40's covered by many solo instruments. But you can't have everything in life. At least I got to hear this favorite song of mine covered beautifully with this lap steel guitar!

@HawaiianSteelGuitar Do you think you can play "By The Fireside"? There's a very brief solo of this song played by a steel string guitar in a take recorded in the 30's. I believe the orchestra was Adrian Schubert's? Anyway, I think this would be a very good ballad for you to play and share.

These Video's are great ! I recently purchased a 1928 National Hawaiian German Silver Tri cone guitar # 945 . It sounds great just like the instrument in the video. The instrument that I purchased had some minor issues with the solder joints in a couple of places on the neck around the 10th fret area giving the instrument low action down around that area . They say this is rather common on the vintage Hawaiian Tri cones. I was wondering if your instrument had any problems with that ? Thank you Sebastian for sharing your great talent with us all .

@@Caligari... Are you using the suggested A High Bass tunning? If so, could you explain it to me please? Is the Low ''E'' string on a standard guitar tuned to an A? He list the tuning as (Hi to low E C#A E C# A) which makes me think High smallest string to E lowest string but it sounds backwards to me. Shouldn't the Lowest string .047 be the number 6 string???
