@adventurelife1972

Well the basic camping gear is obviously a tent, air mattress and sleeping bag. The tent in this video I bought used for $100, in very good condition. Air mattresses come in a wide range of sizes and thickness which would determine the cost, however used is always an option. Just be careful with used air mattress that it truly doesn't leak. I have found some quality air mattresses on Amazon for under $100 as well. Sleeping bags are personal preference for size and warmth. I have always promoted to buy used gear as much as possible to safe money and reduce waste. I find most of my used items on Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji, however there are several local buy and sell options as well. If you buy a used tent be sure to set it up before purchasing and look for any damage such as; zippers that don't zip completely, any seams that the stitching is torn or the seam tape is pulling away, bent poles, missing tie downs and pegs, and any obvious tears or "home repairs". Hope this was helpful and good luck finding some gear. Cheers.

I run line from rear passenger side door up and tie off the tarp then stretch it out using 3 poles creating a cover for the back and driver side rear door so to be able to use stuff I keep in the floor under rear seat. It also gives me cover for my griddle and extra chair room. I keep the poles on the driver side higher for rain to run off.

Would love a link to the suction cups you bought.I’ve found several but none seem to have the lever to tighten the suction once in place. Always found suction cups work best with some water between the rubber disk and surface(years of using them for heavy electronic devices in a transport truck windshield). Thanks for the content!

Two FACTS people need to know about these stoves. 1: The attached igniter eventually does and WILL melt off due to the position of it and the proximity to the flame. It sits IN the flame the whole time. 2. Using propane with these stoves WILL eventually cause fuel leaks and render the stove useless. Propane has a MUCH higher fuel pressure than isobutane, and because the stove and seals are designed around isobutane, high pressure propane will blow out the seals, and there are NO replacements. (These chinese stove manufacturers hide this fact). Use isobutane only if you want it to last long.

Hi Chris I’m going solo camping/first time camping in a few weeks in the Sierra Nevadas. It’s a proper campsite but I’m nervous about black bears in the area. I was planning on snacking in my tent, making s’mores, etc. How would one go about storing food and tent snacking?
@adventurelife1972
@adventurelife1972 Ай бұрын
Great question. Rent a cabin ! Kidding. First of all you should never have any food in your tent, even the smallest amount could attract hungry critters large and small. Keep your food and scented products in a bag and suspend them from a rope over a line between two trees if possible, or keep the food a good distance away from your tent. I cook on the campfire all the time (including s’mores)and I clean my dishes right away or keep them away from the tent where my food would be, usually in my vehicle. As for the larger animals (bears) I recommend getting some bear spray which has proven to be effective, make sure you are given directions from the retailer and read the instructions. Typically if a campground is busy you don’t often have issues with bears but anything can happen, not to scare you. The only item I have in my tent is water. There are bear proof containers available which is also an option. I hope this was helpful and I wish you an awesome camping trip. Feel free to message me with any other questions. Let me know how it goes !! The Sierra Nevadas is on my list also !! Happy camping ⛺️

Supplies on the island arrive by ship. If you are in a situation where it's rough water (red flag beach) every day, count on supplies to run low. The supply ship can't cross the sand bar into the marina area becasue of breaking waves. I've seen this happen several times over the years.

Interesting transition at 4:40 in the video. Before it was rough water, too rough for snokeling. But once the amigo at the Chiringuito beach bar handed you your Cuba Libre, the water was intantly clam. Green flag. Get out the snorkel gear!
