Also funny trivia the pilot for the show was a disaster, all the contestants VW'd on the first day of filming, so they had to soften it up a bit.

Three people in my family attempted selection. My dad and I both failed. My uncle, well that's an interesting one. I suspect he may have passed, there's enough evidence, but I can't prove it and a lot of guys in the regiment don't tell their family. But when I was preparing for selection my uncle drilled me and told me it was the toughest thing he's ever done. And if you know the guy, you'd get a good idea of how tough it is because pass or fail, he's the guy who'd claw his way out of hell itself or die trying.
