When I try to get "here" from the links in your Villages videos it fails. When I copy/paste the URL into the browser it works, so idk. I've fallen out of photography much further/longer. When I was single, living in SE WA state, I spent all my spare time with my A1 shooting the desert, hiking and shooting in the Cascades, then I went to the west coast of MI and shot the lake and ski areas, then to eastern TN where I spent every opportunity shooting in the Smokey Mountains, then came marriage/children and work in Texoma and outside of family pics, I just ran out of time and steam. Now that I'm about to retire in TV, I hope to get back into it. Alas, my A1 won't cut it anymore, even if it still works, so it'll be a full gear "upgrade" $$$$. I assume you're in one of the photo clubs, so I'll probably catch you there at some point. I'd be interested in your more recent gear experiences/choices. Curious if you ever did storm chasing around Wichita Falls.

I think you may have shorted the Neewer GM101 a bit. I have (had?) one that did not have the play you exhibited in the review. The Neewer Gimbaall's with the red trim are the newest and do have bearings. The older "pro" series is without bearings. I say "had?" above because it fell off my truck on I-40, while attached to my tripod, and was run over by a couple semis and a few cars. Besides some scrapes, it appears to be functioning well. My tripod was a total loss, so I have nothing to mount it to and test it.

Decent vid. I can’t see mounting that much $$$$ gear on something that cheap. If any of them gimbals use bearings (might be bushings at the cost of these) , a high quality set of bearings would cost as much as the gimbals themselves. I’ll look for some of your other vids. Happy shooting.

Ok I'm ready to take the plunge. I don't have a tremendous amount of images but I've made the mistake of fooling with them in the folder on the hard drive instead of making changes within LR. I do have 2 questions. In "pictures" there is also a variety of non picture files such as metadata and edits saved by LR. Will I have to edit these pictures again? Also there are pictures that are edited and exported as jpegs in the pictures folder. Where do you put those? Thanks
@RustyNelsonPhotography2 жыл бұрын
Kind of depends on how you are set up. I always have the data stored with the images rather than a sidecar so to speak. If so it will travel with the image. Just test it with one image and see how it goes. BUT.... you will not have to worry about that anymore. Exporting... I almost alway have a reason for exporting... so the completed image so to speak goes to where it is going. Facebook...to print...or given to somebody. Remember...there is no reason to export unless you are going to do something with the image. It is already saved as you do the work. It's just sitting there waiting for you to do something with it. So don't export it until you want to do something with it. I have a folder in Pictures that (windows) that has nothing to do with LR but contains all the images that I put on instagram or one for all the images I put on my website. But other then that...I do not export unless I'm going to do something specific with it. Subscribe to new videos Button: bit.ly/3orJrgp

I am a little confused. You had a cheap gimbal that broke while holding an exotic piece of glass n an expensive state of the art body yet you replace it with essentially the same thing. I get that you didn't want to go PMG due to the cost but why didn't you look at the middle ground? The mid priced stuff will get you something with bearings instead of the bushings on the cheap stuff. The difference in performance from cheap to mid is astounding and very close to the expensive stuff. Did you look at a knock off? Perfect example is Leofoto PG-1 that is almost a perfect kock off of PMG KatanaJr. I'm sorry but I just can't get past your investment in cam/lens but not a head that you know has the potential break.

I bought that one when I first started. Many moons ago. It always worked fine until it sat for two years in the PA weather and humidity. When I got that lens I was working with Canon as a VERY new photographer and got a discount on it. I went from zero to sixty on about 1 year. From holding my first camera to to having an image displayed in Canon's corporate office and being displayed next to NAT GEO photographers. My other gear is mostly Canon, Really Right stuff.... My nature photography and using that lens was just to get into my first gallery. My budget was low....low. For this test my curiosity got the best of me and wanted to see if I could find something that worked. We will see.... Subscribe to new videos Button: bit.ly/3orJrgp

I've not used my Pro-1000 for a while. When I turned it back on an error message came up ..1206 this refers to the door to the maintenance cartridge being open. The door is not open! I tried unplugging etc but the error remains. I can't see a micro switch for the door but I assume there is one, I may have to dismantle the printer....Canon are not a great help with these units and this is the third one I've owned...good printers until they go wrong; then they are junk😡.
@RustyNelsonPhotography2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you have it right but make sure that latch is all the way down on the door. Also pull the cart in and out a few times...even try a new one if you have one. When you unplug it try hitting the power switch a bunch of times. THis depletes the capacitors. I know that has helped but not sure that is your problem. Best of luck and let us know what happens.
I love how relatable this is, I also appreciate how you openly share photos that you now realize aren't the best and how you describe the process. I'm so tired of seeing the best of the best of very good photographers and the looking back at my work in disappointment :)

Hey Rusty. Thank goodness you survived COVID. Stay well. My experience with shelving Photography is different. It began long before C-19. I put down my camera for 25 years when I relocated to California. Got too wrapped up in making money and having fun, so I thought. After being laid off twice I realized that path was not going to end well, fulfillment wise. From that moment all of my effort went to assuring that retiring with my cameras back in hand would not include concerns about financing my photographic pleasures. Glad to say that I met my goal. I shoot what I want, when I want, how I want. I always knew photography would be my mental compass, and once I accepted that I did not need to make money with my camera I was set free to explore my personal creative journey. The brief time we interfaced in Randsburg was a very positive encounter for me. The most valuable occurrences in life come our way when we are not looking for them. Do not lament time lost. Sometimes we emerge better and wiser after a pause. The journey will continue.
@RustyNelsonPhotography2 жыл бұрын
I would have to agree and well said. I'm laughing as I keep looking at the camera and thinking how easy it was to pick it up and just start shooting. Now I have to read the darn manual. And yes I'm glad I don't have to make money with my camera. It was fun in Randsburg for sure. Good friends and fun times but that is what the camera brought...not just images. No lamenting for sure but I do miss the fun times up there. All the best...still have the corvette?

I think it just has to do with the type of batteries. Those are really little computers.
@waltrmitty2 жыл бұрын
I believe it may be a little more straight forward, yet head slap than that. There are charging cables and then there are data cables. Be sure you're using a robust charging cable and you should see the charging times shorten by quite a bit. I'm basing this from my experience documenting and testing this head scratcher with a much more demanding, Autel Smart Controller. So go back and take a look at your cable. The fitting is the same but the devil is in the cable construction and wire gauge
