Find a pilot huh ! Wow , when I went to HighSchool my math teacher was a fighter pilot he flew a plane that took out airports! I think the plane he flew was called a wild weasel ! In any event I just received my drone yesterday but I didn't open up the beautiful case because I wanted my wife to be there (not to mention the $ that I spent) well good luck with your new drone and I guess your channel ! Yes my math teacher was a handsome young cocky man that when in class , somebody would mention Vietnam or something to do with fighter planes and that's all he would talk about..... Which we liked... He was a sharp guy very small very sharp !! Sincerely , Richie Conrad

You might want to install grid lines. It helps to set your 3rds as well as center and horizon check. Leaving the gimbal hard happens more times than not. Everyone does it..

I enjoyed your drone videos. For peace of mind you might consider a short preflight checklist. I'm also ex AF and looking to take up this hobby. I'm considering the MA2 and the Evo Pro 2 but leaning toward the Evo. Good luck.

I thought about it and thought I had it covered....LOL But I did decide to put a little red ribbon on the cover. Hell we had them all over the planes. Really liking the Evo 2 pro. But I'm not the one to ask since I have nothing to compare it to. But having a blast. Tech support was excellent.

Rusty, as soon as I saw the first few seconds of video, I knew what the problem was. Why - because I did the same thing the first flight of my second day of flying! I’ve been flying drones and doing videography with them for four years, so don’t feel bad. You won’t make that mistake again.

Yes I tried doing it again but caught myself. Going to fix that on the next video. You will see. Old Air Force answer from my flying days. Going to load up the new firmware today and run some tests to see if it corrects some of the other problems. Wish I had some great views like the area you fly in. Maybe I'll get out there again sometime.

Rick Britton, Great job, it looked great ,in auto, but I wouldn't know the difference, Thank you for showing the preflight apps, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 ,are those app's free to download, I saw a KZbin today, this person, first flight ,he was about 1 minute and sum into his flight, and about 57 feet up, he said it totally stopped and fell to ground, he is wanting his money back,he says he doesn't trust autel drone anymore, he is communicating with autel. Man that scares me, them things happen when humans are involved. Thank you so much, and Great Job. God bless you and your family. Sincerely Rick from Mo

Hey Rick. Thanks. People have to remember they are machines. And like people are not perfect. Thing is you never hear a person say. I want my money back because it was my fault. I have no idea what the real back story is. Did he take off from a roof top. Install the battery loose. Those kind of things. I only consider that stuff when a start to see a bunch of the same posts from different people. Not just one

I stopped the video at 43 seconds to comment. When I saw this it reminded me of a camera on a low budget drone with no gimbal. Then when you said it was your first drone flight ever I thought bingo he left the gimbal guard on. Since they make those clear it confuses people to think its there to stay. I wondered how badly the gimbal motor was damaged. Hopefully not at all. Happy 4th

It can damage the Gimbal Motors. They try and move and it is possible to strip the gears... Yeah, I have left my cover on ... at least once. Join the club, but a ‘Remove Before Flight’ red flag is the way to go.

I will say that when ever you fly any drone no matter first flight or 100 flights that you should have a slight feeling of being nervous ..Being that so much can go wrong ..My first drone being 6 pound Inspire 1 was always nervous about it going down and hitting someone or something. I clipped a tree branch 15 minutes into first flight and when it hit with a thud and camera came off . But all went back together and flew .. But you just wonder if someone was standing there.. You should always feel caution and do check list . If you were to hit someone/something and you know they will have lawsuit on a day that was just be to have fun.

Yes I will be playing around with it but it seems to work well. I think that the evo 2 was not designed like as a self taking follow me unit like skydio. But I will be playing wit that soon.

Enjoy Rusty, enjoy! I recently bought the EVO 1. Yeah, it is 2 years old tech, but does a great job for the price. I would love to get the 6k version like yours, but we want to see how We end up using this first to see if it is a good choice. A few tips from another newbie, well, I do have probably at least 50 flights in now, but I am still learning and having a lot of fun. 1) Gimbal Cover (OK, you know that one) 2) Pause Button - It is your friend. When running a Mission, including Return To Home, you can retake manual control by using the Pause Button. (or just temporarily pause your mission) Comes in handy when you are on RTH and see or hear a plane! 👍 3) Give the aircraft time to get GPS and systems online and calibrated before take off, and after launching let it sit for up to 30 seconds to ensure it has its bearings. 4) when flying for fun, fly into the wind going out, so you have the wind at your back going home. Or, give yourself extra battery life to get home into the wind. 5) Try to always land with 15-20% battery life left. LiPos do not like to be fully discharged. The batteries will last longer and be safer with proper usage. Let the batteries cool completely before charging also helps. Also remember that if the batteries have been on the shelf for a bit, they may need to be topped of before going out, and if you are not going out for a while, only charge them to about 50%. Respect the batteries, yours cost a ton to replace! Maybe always land with at least 20% battery life. 6) Charge your batteries in a safe location. Get an ammo box, cinder block, or other fire safe location to charge your batteries. The surface under that should also likely be able to take the heat. When not going out, store them in the ammo case, or similar (Harbor Freight), just in case. Also remember that when they self discharge they warm up, so storing them in your rugged case isn’t the best long term location. 7) EVOs work well with a second controller, or the Live Deck. I use a second controller with my 5 y/o grandson. My Teacher Controller can take over at any time if needed, but he flys well in the slower modes (Usually Precision Mode 5 mph). Will slowly move him up based on skill and location. 8) You have the option of a Battery Hub Charger or a second power supply... it’s a personal choice, but I am enjoying the second supply to charge 2 at once instead of essentially serially. Yeah, they have some mass to them at this level, so they can do damage. Just get to know your drone in a safe environment before flying it in places with more risk involved. Keep playing around with all the different features, and enjoy. Have fun! BTW, likely you will get a normal max flight time between 30-35 minutes, but remember that your will want to be on the ground with 15-20% battery left, so subtract about 7 minutes. It is still a lot of flight time... and with 2 batteries, well, have more fun!

I was a pilot for most of my younger life. I have to admit I was a little nervous at first. I just made sure I read the manual and covered what to do if something goes wrong....how to shut it down or call it back. I guess it depends on you but it would never hurt if flying is not something you are sure of. The Evo has a novice setting that keeps things under control and slows things down a little. If you get one let me know how it goes. Rusty
