When you have a troublesome boss get everything in writing or a recording. You KNOW she's going to lie. And who are the higher ups going to believe? The 6 month intern or the 10 year veteran manager?
@rebny78015 сағат бұрын
First story: OP was probably a very young proffesional to fall for his supervisors manipulation. She didn't want him to comunicate with VP, then she would'nt forward important informations. This way she could blame him for not comunicating on important issues and have him fired. It took the VP's a number of years to figure out the managers BS but they finaly did.

I can just see the boss in the first story when she's speaking with the VP's and SVP's (talking to the women and ignoring the men) and when they ask her why she says "Because he's a *MAN*" at that point the VP's and SVP's look at each other and say "We're putting you on administrative leave and if you didn't have 10 years you'd be getting a pink slip"

Amusing coincidence: just after you read the part about the OP's department no longer being under that misandrist boss, a commercial came on that uses "So Happy Together" by the Turtles.

You challenged an HOA's power. If one issue can be contested then every issue can be contested like a house of cards. On the other hand, HOAs incorporate to take advantage of corporate law. That an an agreement that homeowners will follow the covenants. In my state, if you buy a home in the HOA, you've already agreed to the covenants whether you read them or not. The rules pass down to your renters and any and all guests. If your HOA selectively chooses what covenants/rules they follow then they can be challenged in court. They can either enforce everything with everyone the same way or they can't enforce anything (I'm talking about when you get to court. Most matters with an HOA never go far enough to make it to court so there is some leeway for an HOA to do some bullying.)[

down stairs party Karen, let her know you are having a party but will keep the noise down, put the TV on and go out, take plenty of time stamped selfies with a visible location in the back ground, then when she complains simply respond that she is being malicious as you were not in during the complaint and can prove it with photographic evidence! do this a few times to totally destroy her credibility and make her out as a real Karen who cried Wolf!

First story - "There was nothing I can do..." Yes there is. Your manager in a company that has a HR department can NOT write you up without consulting HR. Yes, HR is there to protect the company, but they are also there to protect the WORKERS. By protecting the workers they are protecting the company from any fallout a manager causes. OP in that story should have gone and spoken to HR about the controlling manager and OP should also have told that VP the whole truth and told them that their manager told them they cant email anyone but their manager. Honestly not reporting it is why a manger continues to get away with it all. Their boss was being discriminatory and created a hostile workplace. It honestly wouldnt have gone to that VP meeting if OP grew a spine before then and reported the manager to HR and that VP, easily done by using email by cc'ing, or even bcc'ing, them in asking their manager to verify their orders of not emailing those above them. If bcc'd then when the reply from the manager comes back giving the orders, simply reply back with "Understood" with HR and VP bcc'd in along with it being sent to a non-company account.

Also HR needs to protect the company by neutralizing the possibility of a lawsuit for hostile work environment.

Yeah, if being told that *nothing* you can do, can get you promoted... why bother trying? Likewise, on the other story: I would simply have handed over the write up in the meeting. Along with either hang up or say nothing at the call. Really hammer it home.

@Juggzy16 сағат бұрын
The last one, I went thru a similar situation at one of my previous jobs. I busted my butt all over the store, trained the manager and assistant manager (I was 2 weeks newer than them), had to fight to get supervisor of my dept, ran the store since the “managers” couldn’t be bothered and kept gettin turned down for all promotions to management. I finally had enough after 3 years and walked out. They lost a TON of business from my dept which made most of the store’s money. The assistant manager was promoted to manager 2 years before this but fired not long after I left.

_"There are feminists, then there are sexists."_ *- No, all feminists are sexist. It's literally in the title.* Feminism has always been a hate-based ideology from the start. In the 70s it peaked in violence, with feminists bombing buildings and murdering people. Let's stop the historical revisionism.

@Juggzy15 сағат бұрын
@ there has to be a line drawn in employee treatment. I have no problem makin that line very clear that I will not be treated like that by anyone. I also tell those kind of people “if I never let my parents speak to me like that, what makes you think imma let you? I’m a human just like you and deserve at least a little bit of respect just like everyone else so conduct yourself properly.” Too many managers have gotten way too comfortable treating employees like crap.

You've got to look at the big picture. If the contractors are getting burned when answering a call from this business. Then not only will they not use that business anymore but will also tell others not to either. In the short term it hurts the contractor. In the long term the business itself will die

My mom lived owned a condo in a building that had mostly older people living in it. She'd have her grandkids visit occasionally and these were very active little girls. The youngest was about 5 and wasn't used to not being allowed to run indoors. The neighbor downstairs would complain to the HOA board about noise during the day but mom was friendly with the board member so it never went beyond the member visiting to say hello and having a cup of tea. A few years later, mom developed a medical condition that required an oxygen generator that ran 24x7x365. The neighbor complained to the board about "constant machinery running all the time". When the board member visited mom, she answered the door wearing a plastic oxygen canula in her nose with the concentrator clearly visible in the hallway. After exchanging pleasantries, the board member left and mom never heard any more complaints about noise. I suspect this wasn't the HOA boards first medical systems rodeo.

Story 1: Taco Karen was extremely fortunate to have OP & shift lead accommodate her request at all...much less than dealing with her shite the whole time. I would not have. Story 3: The fact that Karen seemingly doesn't even live on OP's floor and she was loitering outside of their door the next day tells me that OP needs to go proactive on defense. OP needs a peephole/doorbell camera. Record and save any videos of Karen stalking OP's coop. If the harassment continues OP can then submit a complaint on her for stalking.

Considering the tone of the Email OP got from the Manglement Company, I'm wondering if in fact it was KAREN that sent it because she both works for the Manglement Company AND lives in the building... If I were OP, once I got that extremely unprofessional, Condescending Email, I'd have looked up the Manglement Companies number, called them and asked to speak to the Email sender's Manager and when I talked to them, I'd ask them for their direct Email address and forward the unprofessional Email to them with a Formal Complaint against the person that sent it... Then I'd file a Complaint against Karen (unless it was actually her that works for the Manglement Company) for Harassment, Filing a False Complaint and Loitering outside my Apartment/Stalking when she doesn't even live on that floor...Turn about is fair play after all...if she want's to Bitch about my Conduct, I'm MORE than happy to Bitch about hers in return... 😄😁😆😅😂🤣

I've managed 5 story multifamily dwellings. In every building you get a Karen. You get the noise Karen. You get the law Karen who knows (nothing about) the law and will sue you. You get the Karen who's allergic to magic smoke--apparently the smoke from near the building entrance travels 100 feet, up 5 stories and makes Karen sick. Do not approach Karens and question their story. They get outraged and then everybody will hear about it. Treat them with the best respect you can muster. Listen to their complaints. Let them know when you don't have any authority to do what they want you to do. Document everything and let the Board give them lip service when you know that most board members don't want to put up the whiny nonsense. I'm not talking about solving real problems--just the Karens with unrealistic expectations, the Karens who can never understand they're being unreasonable. They never change and everyone else is wrong. If you manage or live in multifamily dwelling, expect to deal with a Karen.
