Good luck with Priests protecting child abusers in my state here in Australia, they are now legally obligated to report any information they are told in confessional about child sex abuse. Comes after my state got sick to death of the Church themselves just moving such people around or simply sweeping it under a rug when it comes to something being told in confessional regarding one of their church goers. That Priest also can land themselves in hot water with the law for failing to report.

I'm sorry for the victims, but the seal of the confessional must remain sacrosanct.

@@daniellewillis2767 why? What makes them above the law?
@daniellewillis2767

@tiffanym1108 because its CONFESSION. The whole point of Confession is it's a place where you can bare your soul and your darkest sins without fear of your secrets being revealed. Same with lawyer client communications. There has to be a place in society for secret communication. Also, for Catholics it's a matter of religious freedom and government not being allowed to alter a basic tenet of the religion: The Seal of the Confessional. This is not "above the law", it has BEEN the law for more than a thousand years.

@@daniellewillis2767 so you think it's ok to diddle kids as long as they confess to a priest?

Story 1 - There's something that seems obvious to me. The restriction on confession is that the priest is supposed to pretend he never heard it. That's why he could not punish OP for what OP confessed to. But when someone else reports OP's bad behaviors, again the priest is supposed to pretend they never heard the confession. By not applying punishment in that case, the priest is basically announcing something that was in confession.

That ending was like a knife in te back. Way to dish it out everyone and blanket everyone with stories.

Confession story: I agree, it's literally a win for both sides. The boys stay out of trouble and the Father/principle gets more kids to attend mass. I'm sure the Father figured it out, but he also had to be happy he was getting thru as well. Essay story: The thing is everyone has different tastes, especially in reading. While many of the "classics" are great, they're also written in a style that can be hard to understand. I've read parts of Moby Dick (I'm 69) and found it very hard to understand due to not only the use of an older version of English, but it's use of nautical terms specifically referencing wooden sailing ships. Even having been a sailor myself I found much of that hard to understand since a lot of it doesn't translate to modern naval vessels. I can't imagine how a teenager would react to that book. Pay for new story: I think you should have done a little investigation and informed as many of the sharklord's tenants to do the same and to pass it on.

Story 2: Why would someone want to re-write the exact same thing all over again? OP's feelings about the story would not change and writing anything different would be lying. Personally if I was forced to re-write it I would write the two pages and at the bottom notate that "Every single thing in the above text was an utter lie that I was ordered to write. I have absolutely no emotional reaction to the story other than Neutral but I am being forced to re-write an essay as if my feeling about the story are not valid." Story 3: OP and roommate did the exactly correct...and legal...thing as they had already paid for the full replacement items which made the old ones their property.

The 2nd story reminded me the enemy of all students , the question of "what was the author thinking here". How would i know. How do you check if its correct or not. And the main thing, who cares what he or she thought. :]

The confessional may have worked out, but isn't part of it supposed to be genuine contrition, and "go and sin no more"?

You're right. OP will pay in the long run if he doesn't repent. By this story, I doubt he has.

Second story reminded me of an art teacher I had in 9th grade or something. We were pretty much "do as you please" and I loved drawing and painting. I made many paintings of various themes, but for some reason she marked me with a low grade with the quoth "never changes theme or subject", while she gave a girl who straight out copied the ElfQuest elves by Wendy and Richard Pini a glowing review with "look at the creativity" and such bullcrap. Girl straight out copied it. My original, sometimes inspired by books, paintings were "same thing over and over again".

Last: A carpenter travels around UK and works on jobs, moves to another one. He hires aptts and even does some fixing up if needed. One time, the LL ducked him and refused to give back the deposit on flimsy grounds. OP made sure to rtalk to a neighbor as he was leaving so she was a witness to his departure. He booked a cheap hotel room nearby and came back at night using the key he didn't surrender. Openly moved around with lights on. Removed every carpentry fitting he could work on and spread the pieces at random across the aptt. Floor boards, panelling, fittings. And then quietly locked up, threw away his key and went to his hotel room to depart the next morning
