Well the fifa world cup in 1950s and 60s were literally European countries playing against each other with few cameos from South America so they feared this would take the attention away. Yes, a silly mistake. In terms of ones I was alive to watch, I would say 2002. That Brazil team with the 3 Rs was brilliant. Choosing from all the World Cups I researched, I think 1982 is the best. It had some of the best games ever, including Italy 3-2, Brazil and Germany and France 3-3. It has the miracle run of Italy. That wonderful Brazil side.
