This is the story of the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Diego Maradona had one of the greatest tournaments ever. Argentina and Diego Maradona would complete an incredible redemption story by winning the World Cup. Their victory was controversial. Maradona would score the most infamous goal in World Cup history. The Hand of God goal. He would also score the Goal of the Century.

Another great video mate. I'll never forget how everyone in Scotland celebrated Maradona's hand-ball goal, just as much if not more than the Argentinians 🤣. On a much more painful and sad note, it also brings back the memory that my cousin's wife and two children were killed in a car crash on the same night as the final in 1986. RIP Pauline, Robert and wee Nicola.

That image of the ref holding the Maradona t-shirt was from a bbc documentary, I think. Maradona met the ref again, gave him that shirt, and called him a friend for life.

Yeah and Antonio Conte was 16 during the 1986 World Cup. No way he could have played the Italian national team at that age. The first match he played for the Italian national team was in 1994.

Not a controversial goal but a robbery. Later when in Copa America Centenario Peru defeated Brazil in group stage with a goal scored with the forearm of a Peruvian player before VAR was implemented and that the referee didn't see since it was very fast and it looked from behind that the goal was score with the player's thigh, Maradona said the goal was a "robbery". Such hypocrite. Yet another reason that proofs that Argentina cannot win a world cup legit without either rigging the whole thing, cheating, or by receiving special treatment and help from fifa itself.
