This video is 2 years old - a week after I did another version available at kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXTbdoKQg8upiJI. the design still works but they changed the recipe to require rotors instead of beacons - same materials, though slightly less than I state in the video. Ill make an updated guide in the next few weeks, im still on fuel in my 1.0 save myself.

9:12 I wasn't obvious to me at first what the point of this was, but packaging diluted fuel and then immediately unpacking it yields more fuel. "Just add some water to it" basically. :-D
@fictitiousnightmares18 сағат бұрын
Yeah, but have we done the math to see if the extra fuel makes up for the extra power and resources used to process it like that PLUS some to make it worth it?
@999erh16 сағат бұрын
@@fictitiousnightmares Looking at it a bit, yeah, looks like it's a LOT better. To make 90 fuel/min with a plain fuel refinery takes 135 crude/min. Packaging it this way only takes 33.75 crude/min, so basically 4x output. Obviously needs the alt recipe, a lot more space, and a lot of water, but much better on oil. Can't put links here, but in "Satisfactory Tools", a share link for the packaged version would be "q16JMIn9CpBB90sp7bBX", vs the regular would be "Xlm9Pb2MPCYKo5mbtLkh".
@fictitiousnightmares16 сағат бұрын
@@999erh Thanks. Was more worried about how much energy is used to process it all and if the extra made up for that energy use plus more to make it worth it. In other words add up all the energy used to process this and then take only the extra fuel produced from the normal recipe and throw it in generators and see if that energy produced is more than the amount used. It 'sounds' like it does, but I haven't done the math myself and was wondering if someone else had. I don't know where on satisfactory calculator to enter those share links you provided. I've looked and don't see any place to put them to show me what you are talking about.

@@fictitiousnightmares Heh, my comments get deleted even if I try to describe the url. :D But it's "satisfactorytools", which is different from "satisfactory-calculator". I have a question for the coal production portion. Do we need to have a higher MK miner and belts to provide consistent power to all four gens in the first display? The problem i run into is that my last two generators don't receive enough coal to stay on, even when i put coal into to stall the belts.
@DekobaКүн бұрын
Depends on the purity of the node. 1 generator takes 15 coal. Impure provides 30 with a mk 1 miner, normal gives 60, and pure 120.
@alwaysaiming6536Күн бұрын
@@Dekoba ahhh thats right. That explains it. So idealy we should have our miner on a normal atleast?
@DekobaКүн бұрын
Yes, but the beauty of the plant design is that it scales. You can do a 2 generator steps if all you have is an input node and it helps out for what it is. And you can scale up as needed if you overclock or upgrade miners.

After 500hrs in this game there's ALWAYS the same sticking points. How do you scale up! This whole setup is designed for a specific number of 1 item...but what happens if you need more of that 1 item for another item. Say you needed 20 mod-frames a mintue, do you just build a whole new set up? And then how do you get your own supply of mod-frames for stirage, where does that supply come from?
@Dekoba2 күн бұрын
I build new setups to meet my needs. Like in this series I'm making 5 r.i.p. a minute for mk 2 belts. But frames use them too. Instead of expanding and dividing the supply i tapped a new vein and built additional production lines. Now I'm out of local iron, so I'm working on long range logistics to make sure I have more as needed to keep building. And around and around it goes.
@arcane_blade31702 күн бұрын
not sure what i'm doing wrong, there seems to be a blockage near the blenders. The pipes are full of heavy oil residue but the blender inputs for it are super slow. The first 2 works on and off and the last two take 10 minutes to get enough for one cycle of diluted fuel. Any ideas ? I followed the guide down to the last detail edit : Gave it more time. With all reactors, pipes and buffers full, reactors work for 5 minutes. The big buffer drains at a crazy fast rate... once it's empty, two thirds of the reactors die, I have no idea why ..hum....

Hey I'm struggling with phase 2. I really need to ramp up my iron production for more modular frames and smart plates etc and I'm finding all the ratios per assembler to be annoying. Do you typically try to set a certain production of item per minute and work backwords? Or are you trying to maximize a given node (e.g taking in 240 iron from two normal nodes and then perfectly using it)
@Dekoba2 күн бұрын
A bit of both, and really whatever makes the math prettier. For modular frames, it works out that using 120 iron ore makes 5 frames, and i had a 120 ore vein 50m from the rest of my factory, so thats what I built the factory around. For steel, I dont love the 15/40 split for beams/pipes, but that makes 120 iron and 120 coal a perfect ration and also gives 3 smelters and 3 constructors. It makes the math nice and the factories pretty. At some point, the math stops being nice, then I try to estimate my need and work backwards from there, so for heavy modular frames, for example, its hard to come up with pretty numbers across the board, but for building its hard to imagine neading more than 1/minute, and to finish the game, 4/minute is probably the minimum. So id start with a value like that and work backwards, and just tune my miners to make everything efficient.
@FelPhoenixFTW3 күн бұрын
I noticed you overclocked the miner as you said to produce more coal for the truck, but isn't that 130 coal (60+70) going on a Mark 2 belt and lift which is 120 capped?
@Dekoba3 күн бұрын
Yep. I should have explained in the video- Since we are now making steel we can get mk 3 belts almost immediately, and upgrade to solve the issue. I'd actually voiced that but cut it in editing because my kids were talking.

You can absolutely control what your trucks load / unload. When you make your routes, just go back and delete any golden pause icon nodes that you don't want that truck to unload at. It's a pita and really something they should have changed with trucks and set it more in line with how trains operate, but that's how you can get them to work the way you want them. My first 1.0 save ran over 2 dozen intricate truck routes to get my both my oil, elevator parts and aluminum factories running as I didn't want to invest in trains for such a low volume plus they take a lot of space for the variety of items I was moving shifting around. So basically I had a whole network of trucks going between the rocky desert to the grassy fields. Works great with 0 hiccups but was an absolute nightmare to set up. Trains are great for sending a large quantity of 1-6 types of items, trucks and drones are good for sending lower volumes of higher types of items. Once drones are unlocked I don't bother with trucks anymore, but the amount of hours you'll spend between unlocking vehicles and drones is pretty high.

Just figured this out: if you make a blueprint of a train track, that piece of track can clip through the blueprint designer limits. It's the same as the normal designing outside of the designer glitch, but there's no overlap error from the designer.

I'm building along with you brick by brick because I have terminal indecisiveness when I try playing alone, but I know if I follow you I'll be more competent and confident to do my own thing in subsequent playthroughs. For this one though I just want to go the distance, not stall out and have something to be proud of at the end. Tips and tricks smattered throughout is always welcome too. Is there a pipette button to copy what your cursor is on? How to effectively use the blueprint system but still have a creative layout? I didn't know how to drop berries for the doggos until I saw you do it. I've always been confused by the swatch system but now I have nice chrome blue machines everywhere thanks to this video. Oh and I like that you do the maths for me, because you seem to enjoy it and though I like a well balanced factory I hate doing the calculator work. As an example, adding sloops to a few blenders to make a large, large amount of fuel. Rocket fuel maxes at around 12m3/min for 625Mw. Fun times. The ionized one was less.. but not by enough to justify it at the time.
