Imperfection and real life, yes Miko!! As with me I have not been able to get to my finances. I know in your reels on Instagram you were encouraging us to prepare early. Life just happens, and my energy has been spent trying to care for my health and my Mom's and at the end of the day I am so tired. I am sitting here just now closing out December but have to go back to finalizing savings goals and still adjusting my "why". I am also currently reading your book "My Money My Way" and am enjoying the part of the book that speaks of finding our "why" and staying disciplined. Thank you Miko!🤗

How come you don’t use a credit card for purchases like that costco to take advantage of the cash back?

I liked the course, but felt that the content was the same that i got from your books and your videos etc. What I wanted was this Excel sheet, which was only available behind the paywall. I have been following you for years. Dug myself out of debt as a single mom and am living a life I am happy and comfortable with, so please do not think I do not value and appreciate everything you put together for this and for those who don't want to read the books and chunk it out more in depth the course is great. But for those OG of us, it's not new or groundbreaking information. Please just release the excel spreadsheet as a stand alone for those that want it and have been vocally asking for it for years.

I’m definitely going to highlight eating out great idea. I can’t even imagine not tracking my finances. I love it! Of course right now it’s hard because I’m in debt but I feel like I’m in control of my finances and thank you for the debt tracker that shows the avalanche method. I always thought of the snowball method. I feel like I can definitely get out of debt now. I’m so glad I found your channel

Hi Miko. Great video and update. Have you thought about using an underwriting agency, if you're not already? They are a 3rd party broker who work with you to find the best coverage and rates. I've used one for years. Their job is to shop insurances for you. You don't pay them anything out of pocket, usually, the insurance companies do out of your premium. Just a thought.

i remember this one night i was scrolling aimlessly, feeling like i had hit rock bottom. it felt like nothing i wanted was ever going to happen for me. i don’t know why, but i clicked on this link about the book Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, and something about it drew me in. the more i read, the more i felt like it was written just for me. it’s wild how much a single book can change your perspective.

a while back, i hit a point where i felt like everything was out of my control. i kept wondering why other people seemed to get what they wanted while i was stuck in the same place. then i came across this book called Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane. i wasn’t expecting much, but the way it explains the connection between your energy and the life you create? it blew my mind. it’s not just a book, it’s like a blueprint for turning your life around.

i used to think manifesting was all about repeating affirmations and hoping for the best. i tried it for months and…nothing. i was so frustrated. then i heard about this book, Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, and how it breaks down the science and energy behind manifestation. it’s like it flipped a switch in my brain. once i started applying what i learned, things started falling into place like never before. worth checking out if you’re serious about manifesting.

so there was this period in my life when i kept attracting the wrong people, wrong opportunities, everything just felt…off. i couldn’t figure out why it kept happening. then one day, a friend mentioned a book called Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, saying it helped them see the patterns they didn’t even realize they had. i decided to give it a read, and wow, it opened my eyes to how much my own energy was shaping my life. seriously, this book is something else.

i remember this one time i felt completely stuck, like no matter what i did, life just wasn’t moving forward. i tried everything-manifestation journals, vision boards, all that stuff-but it felt like i was missing something. then i stumbled across this book, Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, and it hit different. it wasn’t just about manifesting; it was about understanding the energy i was putting out into the world. honestly, it changed everything. if you’re feeling stuck too, you might want to check out this book.

I like to think of "boring" maintenance stuff as self care basics. By having a budget and emergency funds, you relieve yourself of the worry and stress of unexpected costs. That peace of mind is more valuable to me than a spa day; not that I don't treat myself to spa days, but everyday peace is far better than occasional treats.

I'm also in WA. Check with your insurance agent. My rates are lower for the first half of 2025 than they were in 2024. I pay my insurance in six monthly payments. I'm going to check with my Farmers agent to see if she estimates rates will increase for the 2nd half of 2025. Also, I read this same article Miko posted and learned WA has had some of the lowest auto insurance rates in the country; the insurance companies are raising them to be comparable to other states because repair costs have increased significantly.

Hi Miko! Do you have any advice for how to approach the month when your paycheck is smaller than what you budgeted? I felt like January was going to be a month full of progress but now all of my savings goals aren’t possible with my income changing by month in a commission + salary role where my monthly bonus fluctuates. I try to budget the minimum but I can’t afford to live on the minimum so I have a certain amount budgeted that allows me to be at a certain level with my side hustle DoorDash
@TeunieJohanna
@TeunieJohanna 22 сағат бұрын
Hi! I think the advice Miko used to give was that with an irregular income, you budget with the smallest amount that you received (in the last 12 months or so something like that). I did that for a while with my last job and it worked great!

After purchasing everything required to go from digital spending to analog cash envelopes, pen and paper full on TBM method, to see that you’re more going digital with no real explanation as to why and that the only way I can follow suit is of I buy a $260 course with a spreadsheet I am feeling defeated. Feel free to delete my comment but I wanted your team to see this feedback. Looking at my planner today and cant help but feel a little grifted. I wish the spreadsheet was more accessible.

I'm definitely not going digital! I still use and prefer my physical BBP - I just like the Excel spreadsheet because it does the math for me :-) I appreciate your feedback! I very rarely share the BBP in Excel, as I primarily use the physical workbook.

I can totally appreciate this comment. Excel intimidates me! BUT in order to get my husband on board, the Excel version is going to be the best version for him. He is an Excel MASTER, and uses it extensively at his work daily. My advice is to just continue using the paper version, as will I, and just look at the excel as a version for others, just not for you. Defeated is not an option, keep going girl! 🎉🎉🎉🎉The Budget Mom is the best and she’ll continue to teach paper version don’t worry. 😉 You got this! ❤❤

I think it’s important to understand that the excel document is just another tool, there is nothing saying it’s required to be successful, but there are people who may find it valuable. I know it is so easy to see a budgeting tool and feel overwhelmed and sometimes frustrated because it’s natural to feel like we need it all- but I’ve been following TBM for about 1.5 years and I’ve watched every video in the library and never felt like the Excel document/class has ever been pushed on people. It is a tool that some may find helpful, and it seems fair that TBM be able to showcase the tools she’s created that may help- even if they don’t help you personally. I’m actually always so impressed how much more they advertise the free products when in reality most businesses SELL you everything you need and very rarely offer free versions of their bread and butter product.

Phew! Thanks Miko and all for your shares. I’ve been bitten in the past by coaching programs with courses and put my full trust in TBM. So as soon as I heard the word ‘course’ and sensed a possible move to digital my 🚨went off. Really appreciate that my comment didn’t get deleted as this shows me that Miko is a trustworthy creator willing to stand by her product. I would love to hear more about the move to cashless except for one envelope. I will stick to the envelopes until I’ve made progress on all the steps in the book.

@thebudgetmom
@thebudgetmom 2 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for following TBM since 2018! I’m truly grateful for your support and love hearing how long-time followers like you have been on this journey with me. I get this question often, so I want to take a moment to explain why the Building Blocks of Budgeting Course is more than just the BBP steps or the Excel worksheets. The course is designed to help you go deeper than just creating a budget-it’s about understanding your relationship with money, identifying and correcting spending habits that might be holding you back, and learning how to create lasting financial change. While the worksheets are an important tool, the real transformation happens through the lessons that teach mindset shifts, emotional awareness around spending, and strategies for setting meaningful financial goals. I created the course for people who not only want to organize their finances but also want to build the skills and habits that support long-term financial success. I genuinely believe that it offers incredible value beyond what the worksheets alone can provide.

I have always used Excel for my budget, and this year I got the paper planner. I reviewed many (many many) different planners, watched countless videos, bought some cheapy download budget tracker that was not great, and agonized at least 4 months before deciding to purchase the Budget by Paycheck planner. I was using Excel, but I felt like I wasn't really seeing my progress. Then I got this, and holy smokes! I set up my January budget in December (I made copies of some of the pages so I could practice what categories to set up LOL). I have been faithfully updating daily, and I feel so good. I still use excel as well (my security blanket), and now I feel more empowered to know you use excel as well. But something about pen and paper is really satisfying! I have debt, and I want to retire in 5 years. I can really see my pathway to building my savings, paying off the debt, and enjoying the golden years. I wish I would have started 30 years ago being committed to the process, but I am now! Miko, you are a blessing, and I am so glad I found you. I am trying to convince my kids to get on board now so that they can avoid some of the crap I did and feel good with their money. I won't be rich when I retire, but I won't have debt, and I won't be eating dog food (which is almost as expensive as people food!) Keep up the fantastic work girl.
