Most demographers and statisticians expect Houston to overtake Chicago as the 3rd largest city by the end of this decade. EDIT: This video did not age well LOL.

It's amazing to see all the White people leaving the cities in the 60's due to all of the black people immigrating and bringing their crime and degeneracy. Stay away from cities.

You should do metropolitan areas, because official "cities" don't really tell us much. I wouldn't consider Phoenix to be a "bigger city" than Dallas and Philadelphia. Dallas and Philly are much larger metropolitan areas. Also, the metropolitan areas of Chicago and Los Angeles are much closer to New York's size, when you account for metropolitan area.

It's interesting how stable the top names are. Mary was in there for over 100 years. I'd be interested in seeing how much churn and movement there is in the middle of the pack names. That's probably where you'd find a lot of the short term trendiness, like the Kayleys, Kayleighs, Hayleys, Hayleighs, Baileys, Bayleys, Bayleighs, Rayelys, Reillys, Ryleighs, Kyleighs, Kyliles, and all the stupid homophonic rhymey names that were popular in the early 2000s.

It doesn’t give the location for where these were most popular. USA? The English-speaking world? I doubt it’s the whole world.

If anyone's wondering why Mary had that crazy jump around 1900 where it rocketed so much farther ahead of everything else than it already was, there was a really popular naming trend at the time of naming girls Mary Something Lastname and then most of them would go by the Something they had as a middle name but the government data only tracks legal first names. Both of my great grandmothers on my mom's side were named with that style and 100% went by their middle names and were never actually called Mary.
