Good job. Hoping to see you bring it to the dock with that cross wind. Must have run out of battery. I sail a 27 cat solo on bigger water.

I did run out of battery that day. Fortunately for me, the thunderstorms that began moving in created a dead calm for literally the 10 minutes it took me to drop the sails and get the boat to the dock and tied up.

We boaters and sailors are always thinking about our next bigger boat. Unfortunately (or perhaps Fortunately), due to the depth of my marina, and thier lack of support for larger sailboats, I am limited to something that drafts less than 4 feet and can be launched from a trailer. There is no mast stepping crane or tower, and no launching sling anywhere on my home water.

Not familiar with the term “ghost loading” someone enlighten me
@christrouten96067 ай бұрын
It is the term used for modding the gun to accommodate one additional round, loaded onto the carrier beneath a loaded chamber. The early HK guns were capable of this right out of the box but then the made a very slight machining change to the bolt that prevented it. We savvy shooters figured out how to overcome that problem, as shown in this video.

@christrouten96067 ай бұрын
It's more of a novelty than anything. This is a military and police version of the M1 with the 18 inch barrel. It's intended to be a home defense tool where additional capacity could make a life or death difference. As to reliability, this weapon has never had a failure with any ammo, even cheap bulk low brass, in the three years I've owned it. If you are only hunting, where you are legally limited to only 3 rounds, or where many follow up shots are not afforded, then this mod would bring you absolutely zero benefits.

@@gavinratcliffe6201 I just turned 52 myself in June. I've been retired now for a little while. The fortunate accidental decisions that I made which resulted in my current stability took place decades ago. If there are not already things in motion toward this end for you at 52, you will probably have to aggressively plan and execute your retirement goals. I assure you, my situation came about completely by accident. I did not plan to get where I am today. It just sort of played out this way for me. I'm not a good person to talk to about retirement planning. In fact, a few years ago, I had the wonderful great fortune of turning $12k into $320k in the stock market over the course of about 2 years. Then I made several bad investing decisions and lost 100% of that money in about 18 months. I currently have less than $2k in investments. My retirement income though is sufficient, reasonably secure, and adjusted annually for cost of living so I do alright. I still have 2 teenagers at home too, so in a few years things should get even a bit better assuming they are able to become self-sufficient and move out reasonably soon.

@christrouten96069 ай бұрын
Yes, the speed info is a GoPro feature. You have to add it in post processing using the "GoPro Quik" app. To mount the chart plotter (Garmin Echomap 73) I just cut a piece of half inch ACX plywood the same size as my lower teak board, stained it, put three coats of Minwax Helmsman on it, and used the template supplied with the Garmin to cut the hole with a jigsaw.

Offshore? Can't wait until you use it and see it in action and how the loose footed sail performers and the comfort level of the boat upwind. Does that sail have a leech tension line?
@christrouten960610 ай бұрын
I was hoping to get it out this Thursday, but the wind prediction has changed and is now a bit higher than I feel comfortable single handing this boat in. I had 2 seasons on this lake with my Catalina 22 and was comfortable single handing in up to 20kt wind. I've only had this new boat out a half dozen times so far and my last trip didn't instill much confidence. As a cruiser only, I am more interested in the longevity of the sail than I am in how well the boat points or how fast it is. I will, of course, evaluate the performance aspects of the sail, it's just not that important to me is all. The sail does have a leech line.
@svintheanajones8810 ай бұрын
@@christrouten9606 Are you saying you feel more comfortable on the 22 than on the 25? I do find the Catalina 25 sits pretty high off the water and when the boat heels, I can get a bit nervous.

You could get a piece of foam from an upholstery shop, and cut the shape you want for that fridge/berth area. Then just store that original cushion in the garage/house, keep it nice. I've got a Catalina 22, and I'll be cutting one big piece of foam for the dinette berth, for full time bed, more comfortable, and not wear out the really nice original fabric. . . . Use an electric steak knife to cut foam, works great. Thanks for the tour, fair winds.
