Thank you. I'm glad that it was helpful to you. I know I tend to talk a lot in some of my videos. My hope is that in explaining what I'm doing and why I'm doing it, others might learn from me or offer suggestions for how I can improve my workflow and technique so I can learn something myself. What kind of boat are you learning on?

Chris, one of my favorite sailing positions is to sit forward on the leeward side when sailing on a beam, broad reach or running. This allows you to pay attention to the jib/jenny luff and gauge your heel and waterline. Also, the cool breeze in “the slot”will cool you on hot Summer days. Sitting on the stern creates drag and sitting on the high blocks your view. Try it, you’ll like it.

@@sunshinerisingfarm I've never been comfortable on the leeward side except for when sailing under very light winds. I don't know if it has to do with the fact that I cut my teeth sailing a Hobie cat. I just always feel like I'm going to capsize if I can't hike out and keep the boat balanced.

I've been watching this video for over an hour. I like that you have the compass with the wind direction in the upper laft hand corner. You need a lavalier mic so that we can hear you over the wind noise.

Yes it was. My only regret was being over cautious and reefing before I got started. With the storms we had that evening, I still think it was the right thing to do though. It would have been a perfect day for full main and 110.

You can't sink a C25 by leaving the keel up, unless you're in the middle of a hurricane. It will heel like there's no tomorrow, toss everything in the cabin around, terrify you, and then bounce right back. Ask me how I know this. 😅

Looks like your dock would be an ideal candidate for backing into as prop walk would be in your favor. Making a right turn you’re fighting the prop walk.

Prop walk is not really an issue on an outboard equipped boat. I can turn the motor to counter any effect that prop walk would have.

@@christrouten9606 I don’t know ‘bout that, I sail an Ericson 25 and it definitely turns better to port even though I can also steer the outboard. Might be because my engine is on starboard side.

We boaters and sailors are always thinking about our next bigger boat. Unfortunately (or perhaps Fortunately), due to the depth of my marina, and thier lack of support for larger sailboats, I am limited to something that drafts less than 4 feet and can be launched from a trailer. There is no mast stepping crane or tower, and no launching sling anywhere on my home water.
