i love him but might as well trade. His speed would be effective if he was able to carry the puck with that speed. We need a goalie, that is all
@JMunchen-wf2yj14 минут бұрын
I’m not sure we need to swing at another left shot D man. We need a goalie or a right shot D - I’d rather ship chychrun for a 1st and a really solid 3rd/4th line player
@socialmediag548530 минут бұрын
Not a sens fans ... I’d be trying to ship chychrun if extended in a deal to the preds for askarov . You’d have your goaltending issues solved for good . Draft a really good dman at 7 Gotta fix the back end and d . Don’t think ehlers is a need. Get a dman in free agency or trade for a decent one short term

Staios made it very clear in his end of year press conference that we are 3-5 years away from the playoffs and that our goalies are fine. From that I am gathering that there will be very few trades. It looks like he will be depending on the players we have to get better to end up making the playoffs
@gaborv5643Сағат бұрын
we are not so many years away from the playoffs, he just doesn't want to make the same mistake as Dorion, that he recklessly starts the new season with the fact that we need the playoffs and that's it, but I didnt hear such a statement from Staios
@wesgreig2712 сағат бұрын
I'd be happy to see Joseph return. I think classifying players as either top 6 or bottom 6 is misleading. He is definitely what you would call middle six. He can play on any line. Could be 2nd line if you want to move some weapons down to spread the offence, could be 3rd line if you want to load up the first couple lines. He kills penalties and can play on PP2. You need good utility players and I think Joseph can be a good utility player. If you need to include him as part of a package to get a key piece back you do it, but I wouldn't get rid of him just for the sake of it.

@Wexter00834 сағат бұрын
Yorkie is right. You need players like Joseph who are just specialists at rushing the opponent, getting into the dirty spaces and be solid on the penalty kill. His contract is not even that bad either as it expires around the time that core team members will need a raise. The window for Ottawa to make some noise in the playoffs and maybe win a Cup is in 2026-2028 with the current core. That is the window, as after that things will get harry with resigning Batherson, Tkachuk and Zub. Ottawa needs to sort out goaltending, as statistically when they got over .900S% they are a playoff team. Goalies are weird voodoo so who knows if bringing in a Markstrom or Ulmark will even work, or if Korpi can turn things around. I think before we worry about the forward core is deciding if we're trading Chychrun for a fix in net, or on the righthand side. I'd love to keep Chych too, but it all depends on how the cap goes if we can keep him, Chabot and Sanderson. Joseph is a 3rd liner on a playoff team and I don't see Ottawa as not a playoff team if they get above .900S% from their netminders. That should be the key focus right now is fixing goaltending.

Damn I miss Bobby on the pod. Dude kept it real, always had Yorking and the listeners geeking and laughing their asses off. His insights around the league, overall knowledge on the game, pace, systems, etc. is bar none. This pod is great, and Wally/Yorkie are awesome, but a third host brings this thing full circle, someone who played and gives the fans what they want!

I would love to get Chandler Stephenson from Vegas he can play anywhere in the lineup and anywhere on special teams plays hard and is super responsible defensively and can compliment those top lines or he can drive his own 2nd/3rd line. Would love the Sens to go after him in FA obviously it's unlikely to happen but would be an amazing piece to add

Yes everyone loves all the Sens players …. I don’t understand why everyone is in love with all the players ..? 1/2 the team has to be moved to much passengers…. Only players that should be no trades is Sanderson, Tim , and Brady . Anyone else should be on the table . Everyone is saying have to keep Norris . With respect great kid but he’s “ done “ shoulder injury # 4 or 5 now

Wally, admire your trying to make a point of Joseph’s value vs his contract and his place in the lineup but Yorkie kept veering away from that issue with his examples. Happens a lot and it’d be nice to complete a topic for a change.

Love to see some new blood and guys that have had success (not less than .500 wining %). I’d look for a Karl Taylor or Todd Nelson. Another potential good option could be Dan Bylsma. He’s done great things in Cochella.

Totally agree with Wally, we need a completely new coaching staff. Staios needs to let Green pick his own assistants. He is the one that will deal with them the most.

We're a small market, Canadian team. We're not going to attract many big names. We get little respect from the league, networks, refs, etc. The bigger names didn't want the job and why would they. It is discouraging.

You guys are out to lunch if you think Dalton was the worst. Arguably the second best after Connery. He fit what Flemming's books described him as. The problem with him was that he was ahead of his time and was the prototype to Daniel Craig's Bond. Moore early on was good but by the end of his tenure was the worst.

You're both wrong about game management by refs. The statistics show it. With each additional power play you're given in the NHL the likelihood of the next call going against you grows exponentially.

Agree on Kastelic but his intensity, game in and game out, needs work. He’s still young so maybe it comes together for him. Katchouk is the same age as Batherson and he was a waiver pick up, maybe for a reason. Could be another Gauthier and can’t stick with any team.

One of Chabot or Chych have to go. They're both soft and we can't afford to pay 16M$ ( If Chych extends) to two soft defenseman who aren't even our #1's.
@edpottinger8495 күн бұрын
JBD isn't good enough to be a second to top pairing right shot.Hamonic isn't fitting or the kind of player that you want. You guys should have big defenceman.Salt Lake City aka Arizona,has 2 right shot d guys in Juuso Vallimaki and Sean Durzi.Vallimaki is 6'2" and 214 Durzi is a little lighter but the same height. You have 3 top pairing left shot d men.Chabot,Chychrun and Sanderson are top to second.Who are you going to keep? Chabot had a better year,Chychrun isn't fitting because there isn't another good right shot besides Zub. Sanderson has to stay. Either keep Chabot and Sanderson or Chychrun and Sanderson. There is another option,but it's a little risky.Moving both Chychrun and Chabot. The problem is it could be too much change for the team. The only other answer I can see is to move Chychrun,Hamonic,JBD,Kubalik and Forsberg for Vallimaki,Durzi,O Brien,Connor Ingram and a first.The second move would be Chabot and Norris on a LTIR for a top line center.

Staios is under all the pressure but he also has great job security so hopefully that gives him the freedom to execute his vision. They probably knew the green hiring would be unpopular but did it anyway as they felt like it’s the right move. Like the idea of him executing his vision without any internal scrutiny. I have no clue if staios is actually competent but the owner believes in him and he’s very well respected around the league. At this point it’s almost a good thing if the fan base doesn’t like it
@wesgreig2715 күн бұрын
Even if the cap goes way up they still need to change the left side just to get some different skillsets, too much of the same right now. I'd see if you can move Chychrun for a top 4 defense first RHD and try to sign Joel Edmundson for the third pair. He's the type of big body that i think you need to make Branstrom more effective. If he gets hurt Kleven can come in.
@timmanto10225 күн бұрын
Move some pieces and get some depth pieces who are experienced in the playoffs. I'd move Chabot this summer and negotiate with Chychrun. Sanderson is our two-way gem d. I would try to go after DeBrusk if he's available or another Dzingel type wing. Sens have always had success with a 2LW who can swap with the third line. I would look at moving Norris. Maybe to Phoenix for Hayton. I think he can be a Cirelli type player. I would also go after Henrique or Cogliano if you want Pinto as your 2C. I want a Formenton replacement this draft. I think we are missing speedy grinders who can get under your skin. Pageau, Dzingel, Vermette, C. Kelly & Zack Smith all had these qualities. That piece is missing on this team.
@wesgreig2715 күн бұрын
Moving Norris is the big move I'd like to see them try to make, but I don't think other teams will be willing to pay much given the injury history. Maybe you find another team with a good asset in a situation with poor leverage, but that's asking a lot. Maybe Mitch Marner would waive the NMC to come to Ottawa and Norris goes the other way. Toronto will want more than that back but that's the type of situation where the other team also has poor leverage that I think they could look for.
@koletackney6 күн бұрын
Successful teams make bubble players like Kleven and JBD fight for a spot. Kleven should be a call up since he is waiver exempt, JBD should be 7th, which means Hamonic buy out and at least one defensive D on the right.
