If you dig it in the ground how do you stretch the top stran of barbwire ? You cant its to put on the post not in the ground .

That’s a good observation. For demonstration purposes I was using it down there on the bench but here’s a video that explains it a little further. Wire Stretcher, Clarification kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKCxfpmLjbx0ha8 Each line does need to be pulled at its level. I appreciate you stopping by and hope you have a great day.

Nice tip ToolScouter! When the pusher is worn on the bottom, could you just cut it off and cut a new stop into it, and keep using it? 🤔 Very good idea as I've seen many a woodworker or carpenters that are missing part of a digit! 😢 👍🇺🇸
@toolscouter3 күн бұрын
Thank you and yes, you can cut them off but because you don’t have a parallel straight edge, it makes it kind of difficult to get it really straight. It also shortens it so that the fence can get in the way overtime. For this reason I’d like to just use some scrap plywood and make a new one. I kind a wish I would’ve made these a little taller. Thanks so much for your visit and I hope you have a great week.

My favorite is shaped like a v, like a boomerang. I got the design from the old cabinetmaking and millwork book. It not only has a notch that pushes thru the cut but it has a very long surface pushing down on the board preventing lift and kickback. Simple and effective. It's very easy to use one to rout out another so I have several of them.
@toolscouter3 күн бұрын
That does sound very efficient. Thanks so much for sharing this with us and I can imagine trying to make one of those and how well it would work. I might have to try it sometime in the future. Thanks so much for sharing and have a great day.

I hate those plastic push sticks. I make all my own and I have one very similar to your that is my favorite. Mine does not have the screw but I run a sawstop with the safety technology and it does not like metal stuff
@toolscouter3 күн бұрын
I don’t like the plastic ones either. Thank you so much for sharing and I have heard those saw stops are good to have and I can understand why they wouldn’t like metal. Always great to have you stop by for a visit and hope you have a great day.
@Rusty_ok3 күн бұрын
@ I have accidentally ran a piece of oak I salvaged from an old barn through the saw stop. I missed one broken off nail and the saw stop cut it right in half. It will stop and retract the blade if it senses anything that conducts electricity… like a finger. It was an expensive table saw but I figured it was cheaper than a trip to the ER.
@toolscouter3 күн бұрын
I can see that happening and understand perfectly. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome little tools. The one you straightened looks like it's got about a 20or so degree angle on the end which is the angle I put on my knife edges. Might work perfect on the belt grinder to get the bevel just right!?
@toolscouter6 күн бұрын
That’s a great observation. I would think on a grinder, though it would be too aggressive. Maybe on a stone would be better. At any rate I think you might have a point. Thanks for your visit and have a great weekend.

@toolscouter a stone for just touching up or sharpening but I make knives so most of the time I'm starting with a square end and I use the belt sander for that. And it works great.

The one that you said is combersome in the beginning is not a hand vise. It is a parallel clamp,also known as a toolmaker's clamp.
@toolscouter6 күн бұрын
That’s good to know. I forgot to mention it in the video, but the handle actually threads off and I presume it can be threaded into a stationary base to be use separate from the handle. Thanks for sharing with us and have a great weekend.
@ivanstiles70307 күн бұрын
I picked up a small hand vise like the one you hung on the wall about a year ago and it has become a well used tool tool in my shop. They will definitely save your fingers from the wire wheel. I use mine often when restoring tools for small parts that need to be wire wheeled and cleaned up. They are also useful in conjunction with a larger vise to hold small parts when filing. I don't know how i lived without one. Great finds and clean up!
@toolscouter6 күн бұрын
Thank you. They are good little tools to have in the shop. I forgot to mention in the video that the handle comes off of the wooden one. I don’t know if it may have been used with another vice that was threaded to receive it, but you could go from handle to vice and back again, simply by threading it. Thanks so much for your visit here in the shop. Come by again soon and have a great weekend.

Those hand vices look like they would come in real "handy" 😅. I am going to have to find one because I end up using a pair of old lineman pliers, and it is a bit cumbersome when you have to be the pressure side and work the material also. Thanks again and have a great weekend
@toolscouter6 күн бұрын
I think they will come in handy😁. In the past I have used vice grips, but occasionally will damage the part I’m working on. These hand vices should give better control of pressure. Thanks so much for your visit and hope you have a great weekend as well.
