Gob smack gorgeous Geoff! Regarding the coastal geology, the sedimentary layered uplifts and the caves & arches, I can't help but think the coastal features were more the result of historic volcanic forces combined with relenting wave action erosion. The imagery I'm thinking of is more molten magma squished up through porous earth's crust like hot clay squished through a sponge. The molten squish could easily lean over some, collect and combine above the surface to form the caves and arches with giant volcanic and seismic uplift forming the land masses through massive crustal rip openings along with it. The wave action erosion would help mine out the coastal features over time. A good campfire banter argument topic at least! Ha!

It's a bugger we missed you 🙄🙄 So it's from Armadale bay, lunch in Farr Bay then on to camp on Rabbit Island where I celebrate my 74th birthday the next morning, before setting off to traverse Whiten Head and then on to camp on Eilean Hoan. All in your backyard with plenty of familiar features that you'll recognise 😀 😉 Take care and stay tuned. Best Regards Geoff

I'm not sure which cave you mean or talk about the Maidens, it may jog my memory and become clearer once I start that edit (please send me a picture or 2 if you would) as I'd like to mention it in the finished episode. Is it possible to send something to recognise it via Messenger, please, it would be a great help ... Cheers 🍻 👍 Taking my time editing the footage is very worthwhile to assist the cold memories. It is amazing that your fully loaded-kayak floats 😁 Another spectacular trip Geoff. The slabs at the bottom of the cliffs did look bloody strange and made it look like the cliffs were going to fall over. Just like you Geoff I don't like rocky landings I would rather have lunch in my boat. Tell you what you hit some big surf again, but nothing as big as the mouth of the cave Wow that was big. Best line (Kid in a sweetshop Hahaha) Great adventure can't wait for the next part. I was, however, surprised you didn't see any Seals. Perhaps next time 🦭 But great eyes spotting the Porpoise. It should be live to view on the channel within the next couple of days,,, just a few minor tweaks to do. Wales is also a great area to paddle. Hi Geoff, WOW what a place to go kayaking, the scenery is breathtaking and the location and remoteness of it all must have made it an unforgettable trip, so jealous. I also liked and was very interested in listening to the details of the other people on the trip. I often think when watching yours or Bob Evans videos what experience/capability have the other kayakers got in comparison to me. It's quite clear they are all streets above my capabilities and I should stop getting carried away with myself and stick to Filey bay.🤣 Thanks for sharing Geoff, great video as per normal. 👍

@peakandpaddleuk Hi Leigh, the Lismore camping trip was the last one I could squeeze in before the end of the year. Needless to say the weather was very poor (character building) but very enjoyable. Please feel free to browse my other offerings with quite varied locations to get your taste buds flowing. Stay in touch... oh, nearly forgot to ask, what area are you from? I'm from the North East, but you probably guessed that by my accent 😀😀 Cheers Geoff 🍻 👍

@peakandpaddleuk Absolutely 💯 Leigh, it's always good to stretch ourselves, within safe limits of course, and find our inner self, pitting ourselves against the elements, gives us an appreciation of the wild and wonderful outdoors... something I've loved from being a child, which thankfully has never left me. The far Northwest and even the west coast of Scotland is a long drive for you. But for beautiful sea kayaking spots, it's definitely worth it. Have you got a set group you paddle with, or do you prefer solo camping trips?

A fellow subscriber asked if you can get a trip boat out there, but due to its remoteness and general sea conditions, I think it's unlikely and too risky that skippers would risk landing the general public. Wow, what a place to paddle Geoff, I once visited Handa Island (By the small ferry) in the bird nesting season about 7 years ago. I had just bought my first sea kayak and I remember looking over the cliff edges thinking I bet this place would be great to sea kayak around if you had the skills to do it. It looks a lot better than I ever imagined. That holiday was my first time ever paddling a sea kayak, paddled from Classnessie beach to a lovely little beach on the north side of Oldany Island, from then on I was hooked on the sport. Another great video Geoff and certainly looking forward to the whole series.

Sort the men from the boys, and I'm a girl, awesome quote Hahaha When you reached that rock face / wall it reminded me of the King Kong movie. Wow, there are some amazing views and one or two spots that looked risky, like the rocks that looked like they could come down any second (I bet you're right they won't be there long) So funny as I watched I said to myself, I'm surprised theirs no seals about, and at that very moment you shouted "Seal" Fantastic start to the adventure. Looking forward to part 2.

Hi and welcome back KJ. Thanks for your great comments. Another phenomenal trip Geoff. You seem to have an incredible nack for picking weather windows. I have to say though, you are murdering those Gaelic placenames (at least to my a Irish ear) 😂. I can't wait for the next installment.

@mairnealachamu I'm so pleased you enjoyed this one, too. Weather is always a big consideration, and sometimes you just have to go with what you're dealt with, especially when it's a multi-day camping trip. Yeah apologies for my terrible garlic pronunciation. You're not the 1st to comment 🙄🙄😅 Hopefully I'll get the followup video's sorted soon... i can't wait either as there's some cracking stuff. Cheers 🍻 👍

When you were ruining through that gap all I could think of was the 1960s movie Jason and the Argonauts, when they sailed between the Clashing Rocks. Fantastic paddle buddy, a nice calm day on the water and with the sun, and even a porpoise. Them rocks that had been made by volcanic lava looked amazing. Also the drone footage of the Castle looked great. Hope you have a great New Year.

@THE-RIVER-RAT Hi George, so pleased you enjoyed it. Kerrera is a fabulous little paddle with a nice sheltered launch spot, and without swell, the South Coast is lovely to explore in summer, with lots of available landing spots between the reefs. Any swell from the South would make landing much trickier, so check swell forecasts. You must go, it's great. Have a great Christmas, and who knows? we may bump into one another on the water in 2025. Seasons Greetings 🎄🎄🍾 Geoff
