@THE-RIVER-RAT Thanks George, that area of Scotland has all the elements of exceptional sea kayaking but requires careful planning of weather and tidal steams... when the 2 collide, which is inevitable sometimes you know you're in for a rough ride... often enjoyable, but the area is so remote you need to be on your "A" game!! Cheers, stay safe my friend.

Thank you very much and 1st my congratulations to the excellent quality of the video! 2nd: Most interesting to me were the insights on tidal races and tidal overfalls! @AndreasDietrich-c2k Andreas, thank you so much for those amazing comments. It makes the lengthy editing process all worthwhile 👍👍 The camera perspective is made possible by using a mouth 'bite' mount for my DJI Action 4 rather than a helmet cam, that way I have much better control over what I want to show, it does however make me sound like a poor ventriloquist at times 😂😂😂 but I think folk get the gist of what I'm saying 🙄🙄. Make sure you watch part 2 for some real excitement and more manoeuvring in the tide races at Maximum Spring Tides, hilarious 😂 Lots more to enjoy on the channel so please keep those comments coming and share with friends 🧡 Thanks and stay safe 👌

@THE-RIVER-RAT Hi George, it was such a fun trip with quite tame conditions but I laughed my socks off as the wave lifted me onto the rock before I could get a control stroke in to avoid it, basically allowing myself to end up overhanging the rock in mid-air. It seemed ages before anything near big enough to refloat me. I even contemplated 🤔🤔 lobbing myself off sideways on a support stroke into the narrow gap... which would have been tight ha,ha, 😂😂😂

I am so jealous, and I live here! I loved Kayaking but the capsize training scared the "carp" out of me (I don't think we have those in Shetland so they must have fled too), started with sailing, I got knocked out and over the side with a boom one week after the capsize training for that! 😂 I still have a boat of course though, but she's a Shetland model with a 6hp 4 stroke- Canoe/kayaking is something else entirely, I really want to try again

@@Dzeroed Hi and thanks for the kind comments 👍 I hate hearing that people/instructors have actually scared folk away from the very sport that they wanted so badly to be able to succeed in...such a shame!! I'd recommend giving it another go with a couple of great friends of mine from the kayak club up on Shetland Hamish Leslie and Rachel Shucksmith, if I remember rightly they meet every (either) Wednesday or Thursday night at Gulberwick. They both run the Shetland Sea Kayak Symposium 2024 and every 2nd year. If you have difficulty in contacting them get in touch and I'll arrange a hook up with them. Hamish lives in Brae I believe. Best of luck but keep persevering it's a fabulous sport and you're spoilt rotten for amazing kayaking up there !!

@@Paddleclips Hi Bob and thanks for those wonderful comments. In my book, kayaking is just that, it doesn't need to be salt water under the kayak, fresh is just fine, adverse conditions are also not limited to the sea as we've all seen, especially on your lakes in BC. Even small lakes in our 'Lake District' National Park, it's not uncommon to experience 4 - 5ft waves. The sea does however, add an extra element of conditions around and through reefs, cliffy headlands that I love and is probably self evident in my video's...it seems like I'm 'wired' that way...some may say 'unwired' 🤣🤣🤣 After paddling over 50 + years and having a real love for surfing, some may also say the salt water has affected the brain cells, I put it all down to time in the boat and getting out regular. Anyway... I'm starting to ramble, so, please keep enjoying the video's, lots more different trips on the channel, please like each one you think deserves it, I welcome any feedback, share with friends, consider subscribing to be notified of lots of new content coming soon from the multitude of trips so far this year. @@TreLongboard Hi Juha, welcome back and as always thanks for your comments, keep them coming as loads more content to edit and upload very soon 👍👍 I used to use the Hero 10 with standard stabilisation and Horizon leveling which I found fine, but GoPro's inability to sort out the usless unreliability issues... locking up requiring the battery to be removed on nearly every trip at least once was just a joke!!! Lots of excellent footage lost when it's too rough to take it to bits in a sea kayak, risking water ingress!! The original Hero 10 was replaced more than 5 times and still has the same issue!! I moved to DJI's Action 4 which uses the same 1:1.7 lens as my Mini 3 Pro drone. It gives stunning results and uses DJI's RockSteady 3.0 Technology, it gives a slightly wider field of view even in Parallel (dewarp) mode and I use 4K at 30 or 60 fps. It's ultra reliable, with no issues in the 12 months that I've been using it. The Action 5 is being released in the coming weeks, which has the same form factor and a bunch of new settings/enhancements, that's all I can find out at present. I'm more than happy with image quality etc and find it much better than the GoPro. I hope this helps...stay tuned for more coming soon 👍👍 Cheers Geoff
