Hello Geoff, I hope all is well. Thanks for another wonderful video. The island is a good distance out, glad you had such great conditions. The drone footage was lovely, I'm always impressed with the wealth of historical sites you enjoy. We were amused with the shot of you eating and "reclining" in your wee camper or car! You certainly are adaptable and flexible! 😊 We look forward to Day 1 and 2. Hi to Shirley.

@@dugeish Hi Doug and thanks for those great comments! The Isle of May is always a great paddle and done from the Fife coast is only around a 5.5 mile crossing unlike our usual crossing from North Berwick via Bass Rock (which Will & I did the next weekend) at around 12 miles! A much longer route but Bass Rock is always a magnificent visit being home to the world's largest Northern Gannet colony, boasting 150,000 birds at peak breeding times!! Video to follow, eventually 🙄 I feel terrible, I still haven't got around to sorting some visual memories from your kayaking visit and produced videos from the miles of footage I took. So many trips this year and life just keeps presenting challenges along the way....I'll get it sorted soon, I promise 💕 Ha,ha, yes the new car has worked out great for the odd few days away but still love the extra room and freedom in our motorhome...I'm not as supple as you make out 🤔🙄😂😂 Thanks again and please say hi to Cindy from Shirley and I 💕

@@mairnealachamu Ahh thanks for that Tash, it's just nice to have a name to refer to. West Cork... now that sounds like a grand place to live, with lots of excellent paddling within reasonable distances. Extreme stuff too I'd imagine!! I must get over there, I've mentioned to my wife we need to visit Ireland quite a number of times as I enjoyed 3 weeks camper touring right around the coastline but she's never been 🤔🤔 must make the effort. All the best to you Tash. Cheers Geoff

Hi Geoff, we had a good holiday, weather was cold windy but the kayaking was fun. I think I mentioned to you that we don’t live near the ocean now but we do have a lot of big lakes around us here in British Columbia and of course rivers. We really ruff it in our 30 foot travel trailer lol. Take care Geoff and thanks for the kayak info.

@Paddleclips Great to hear you had a good holiday, it must be amazing over there in BC, such a huge place and I can imagine a huge RV would be the way to travel... amazing !! But yes, I would really miss the sea!! Shirley reckons I've got salt water in my veins. My channel and videos ticed a wonderful couple, Doug and Cindy, over from Nova Scotia, to experience... A real "Scottish Sea Kayaking Adventure" in July, where I joined them for two glorious days sea kayaking around Oban area. They thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it... amazing, they said it was a totally different paddling experience to anything in Nova Scotia !! Keep up the great work ruffing it in your trailer while watching my videos 😄😂😂😂

Hi Geoff, it is Bob from BC Canada, just back home from two week paddle trip. All inspired and ready for some more of your kayaking adventures. Just watched The Isle of May 2024 trip you took awesome video. I was curious as to the kayak you were paddling could not make it out. You are putting out very enjoyable kayak videos. Take care Geoff.

@@Paddleclips Hi Bob and thanks for those kind comments 😀 😊 Two weeks kayaking sounds awesome 👌 I hope you had decent weather and good conditions, was it base camp style or kayak camping and what area? The Isle of May is always a great trip, being so far offshore with loads of wildlife and a stopping off point for many migratory birds. In fact I went back out the very next weekend for an overnight trip with my usual paddling buddy as he couldn't make this one. David Steel the reserve manager is a great friend and he allowed us, in fact insisted, we doss down in the lighthouse, so loads more footage to share from that trip when I get more of the more challenging video's edited. Thanks Bob, subscribe if not already, as there are loads more interesting videos coming soon. Cheers and best regards Geoff I'd be interested to hear of your where you got to on your trip 👍👍👍

@@Paddleclips Sorry, forgot to answer your question...my boat is an "Atlantic" a "North Shore Sea Kayaks" design by Mike Nelson a great and long standing friend of mine and I actually, lovingly helped lay it up with Mike around 12 + years ago. The company closed around a year after Mike retired and Valley Sea Kayaks are continuing their manufacture. Its a tremendous kayak design that suits my style of paddling for both day and multiday trip...I love it.

That looks to be a really interesting trip... I'll add that to my list for next year... Not been that side much yet
@geoffburkeАй бұрын
@wavesoffun Ahh, it's definitely a cracking trip, Ian. As mentioned in the video, it's around 5.5 miles from the North side but over 12 from the South, going out from North Berwick to Bass Rock 1st, which in itself is stunning, covered with the world's largest Northern Gannet colony... amazing!! Ironically, Will (my usual paddling buddy) and I did the southern trip the very next weekend as an overnighter and David Steel the reserve manager (and good friend) insisted we sleep in the main lighthouse accommodation rooms !! Video to come ! Let me know when you're coming up to do it and I'll gladly tag along if you don't mind (overnight trip is always better 👍)

It's Andy Sinclair and I. Not myself. The irony being you say 'myself' to try and sound more intelligent, yet it does the opposite due to being wrong. Still enjoy your videos despite your constant errors around me, myself and I, on every video.

@@BluMonday88 @BluMonday88 Hi Blu ??? Or should I say, M G ??? Many thanks for your comments and I'm so pleased you are enjoying my video's despite my minor irritations 😂😂 but I suspect at 74 I'm not really going to change 🙄😂 Being a 'Wearsider' (not quite a Geordie 😳) there are lots of words that get mispronounced and spoken incorrectly in my local dialect. Yet I fail to see that it is really a measure of intelligence, be it perceived or implied. But was does irritate me, is people who kindly reply to my video's yet don't do me the common curtesy of announcing their actual given name.... strange 🤔🤔! But even worse is someone?? a Canadian (I assume) with their altered version of the English language (a minor irritation to me), who immediately proceeds to critise my spoken version of the English language and relates it to a perceived level of intelligence. Lets put our differences aside as we all enjoy the same wonderful sport, it's what brings us together in the first place!! I welcome constructive criticism of my video's, which are an account of the aspects of our sport we all enjoyed on the day, produced for others to enjoy too. All I expect from viewers is to enjoy them without petty personal irritations. I've made very good friends with a couple of wonderful Canadians through their enjoyment of my video's, so much so that they came over to visit and enjoy a " real Scottish Sea Kayaking Experience" which I was only too pleased to set up for them. We all enjoyed two fabulous day kayaking around the Oban area...the video's of their experiences and enjoyment will feature on my Channel shortly. M G I'd welcome more of your feedback with your name if you'd care to give it. Best Regards Geoff

@@BluMonday88 I'm not sure where you're from, but Geoff is clearly a native English speaker, from the northeast of England or southeast of Scotland. All around Britain there are regional variations and dialects that have different vocabulary and grammatical norms to textbook Oxford English or the so called Received Pronunciation that is taught internationally. There is absolutely nothing wrong with how Geoff speaks, and your comment is frankly quite rude.
