General anesthesia is poison, nothing else. I hated it and did not approve it. I was unconscious early on and never even met the anesthesiologist. Damn them all to hell. I totally hate hospitals and doctors. Especially those insensitive clod surgeons. 😡😡😡😣😣😣😠😠😠

i get this spasm out of nowhere. sometimes i just swallow saliva wrong, or breathe wrong, or i can even just sniffle and it might cause it. it's like my throat gets confused with what is air and what is something i'm supposed to swallow. it's terrifying. i'm 80 years old and it exhausts me to get thru an attack. i'm afraid the older i get i won't have the strength to do it. i haven't seen it mentioned but for me the spasm creates a lot of saliva with air bubbles and i've learned to stand over the kitchen sink and spit out everything i can and try not to swallow it, just try to get rid of it and at the same time i'm panicking to get air. i do have acid reflux but i've not had a spasm because something was coming up in my throat, it's always been related to swallowing.

I have been a critical care nurse for 17 years and a few months ago I moved to PACU. I noticed my first few days there I felt dizzy and a little nauseous. I just thought I had a bug. But over a few months I noticed I repeatedly had those symptoms and only while at work. I never called off or anything and nobody else seemed to have this issue. I really thought it was in my head. After three months I just felt PACU wasn’t for me and transferred back to my old unit. I’ve not felt dizzy since. This video makes me wonder if I was just more sensitive to the WAG than other nurses.

Do not bend your neck forward when eating especially, that can start laryngospasm
@lindamist7051
@lindamist7051 5 ай бұрын
I have had three laryngospasms and I was terrified as I thought I was going to die. Could vomiting bring on an attack as it feels like acid in the throat doesnt help. If you were vomiting and it happened you would surely choke on vomit as it couldnt come up? This terrifies me.
@pacunursingminutes
@pacunursingminutes 5 ай бұрын
Linda, it would be wise to be evaluated by an ENT if this is a frequent occurrence for you. Secretions can and do trigger laryngospasm. You may need to be evaluated for any anatomical abnormality.

We just rolled out the use of amisulpride. It was rolled out by our eras committee and we don’t use regular now. I’m on the fence about it because I really liked regular for laparoscopic procedures that had cramping and gas pain.

Im 72 I've had a total of 5 of these throughout my life over the last 5 years...I always get them after being in a deep sleep,wake up suddenly and start fighting for air,gasping for breath and fighting for my life...they leave me with a pounding fast heart rate and usually feel quite emotional after them.Ive read that losing weight helps a lot and sleeping with lots of pillows will help,Im going to practice the Larsons maneuver.Good Luck.
