I guess Lizard/Komodo lead will never get reproduced 1:1. It looks to be some hw synth preset as it's exactly the same in this track from 1996 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpqnlIeapsxkl8k. Too bad. Same with Proximus lead.

One of the greatest synths ever made, and certainly the last great synth that Roland ever made......

Man, you are my favorite sound designer. Any chance for a Supernova soundset sometime in the future?
@purrbox75148 күн бұрын
People state this synth sounds too thin, but I think the tinnyness of it is actually is its best quality. It allowed all those uplifting trance riffs to shine through in the mix. If it had a fatter sound, it would have forced producers to use heavier drums and basses, which would have crowded a genre of music as frantic as uplifting trance. Of course you can EQ any mix, but this synth was perfect out of the box. As far as uplifting trance goes, the signum remix of Alice Deejay has to be my favourite of all time, that riff was just amazing, and it's all thanks to the Roland JP 8000 / 8080.

Hi Sami, Is it possible to copy all parameters like ADSR envelopes or oscillators in this VST and use them with the same values in a new interface?
@AiynZahevSounds10 күн бұрын
Like copying it over to another synth? Yeah you can do that. Might need some tweaking to get closer and it might not sound exactly the same, but trying to transfer sounds from one synth to another is a great way to learn sound design and learn your synth.

I only just found this video Sami, and I agree with you completely regarding these filters. I'm a huge fan of the Roland System series and have a System 700 sequencer, a complete System 100, a System 8, a System 1m and a System 500. I love some of your patching ideas in this video. Very cool 😎 💖

How’s this compare to the JP Supersaw Sami?
@AiynZahevSoundsАй бұрын
Umm it's not exactly the same, depends on how particular you are, but it's not the same. Another big difference between the Virus and JP is the filter and the tone controls, there's a huge treble boost you can do on the JP supersaw that still sounds good. You can try to replicate that with the EQ on the Virus but you sort of need to know what you're going for.

How to transfer the sound banks without a PC or the Nord Soundmanager? I had some NL 1, 2, 2x some years ago and it was possible to send the Midi Files for Soundbanks with the MPC or another Sequencer. Unfornately I forgot how it was. Who knows to transfer the Soundsets with a Sequencer to the A1? I can't find something in the net about that.
@AiynZahevSoundsАй бұрын
does the manual list a way to do it without the USB and software?
@svenrechburg4364Ай бұрын
@AiynZahevSounds no it's just about Soundmanager. With the Waldorf synths it's also possible to send the banks to the synthesizer via midi from a sequencer. I have a PC but using the soundmanager or in generell a lot of software needs an internet connection. I have an Akia mpc key 61 and can't use their software for sample transfer, because my internet connection is bad and slow. I prefer hardware that I can use without the internet. Once upon a time hardware was for guys that don't like computers for music. Yes I'm a lil bit old school. I downloaded the project air banks with my mobilephone and now trying to get them on the nord lead.

Can you explain the patching between the mmm filter and the twin vca? It sounds really good! 2:19
@MrBendixxxАй бұрын
The 1998-2000 trance era truly was magical. This synth; thanks to Ferry Corsten largely, was a big reason for that beautiful euphoric sound. The supersaw OSC was just so big, thick and creamy, and sounded like nothing else. For me it's that "Better off alone" (Signum Remix) pluck, it sounds heavenly.

It does seem a great synth, but the version I have has an awful preset management system. Needs Maschine or something to be able to tag the presets. I resort to naming mine so I can remember what they are because all the user presets end up in one huge folder. I couldn't find a way to specify sub-folders for Bass, Lead, Pads etc. Such a shame. Another synth sound designer "The Unfinished" said he hated it.

Robert Miles used a Kurzweil K2000 (or K2500?). Not a fan of Robert Miles myself but many other artists I liked used the Kurzweil synths, too: Secret Cinema, Robert Leiner (The Source Experience), Cosmic Baby, ... The K2500 would be an interesting option to pick up as hardware. That said, also Technics WSA 1 as used by Speedy J.
