Anyone bought these? The JP 8080 in the video isn't as 'alive' as mine when I'm creating sounds like these. The ARP isn't active for a start. Am I missing something? Reviews of the bank would be ideal - none on the sellers webpage. Where's the reverb from? I use an Eventide Space - the 8080 doesn't have it. Shoot me down and I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
@AiynZahevSounds2 жыл бұрын
@@perorynparker5082 yeah I’ve had a good number of takers already, some of them in this comments section. No one leaves reviews but they do email me so maybe I’ll just snip them and put them on the website. I did put up a quote form Dash Berlin. The arp isn’t active because it’s all MIDI from my DAW. The reverb I used was Valhalla shimmer.

Jesus Christ, this is as close to those late 90s Trance sounds as one could get besides a time machine or asking the producers themselves what settings they used. Actually, most of the producers probably couldn't remember the exact settings since they made these tunes so long ago. Well done!

I played on a JP-8000 when they were first released. Sadly I was 17 and could not afford one. This video convinced me to finally buy one 2 months ago (even though that era's Trance boom was over years ago) and I love it. Even before I bought this pack Sami shared the MIDI with me and I have been "wow'ing" my friends with how damn spot-on these patches are. It's fantastic that people like him are creating stuff to get others involved in vintage (damn that makes me feel old) hardware. I cannot recommend this bank enough.

I appreciate that you showed the settings on the JP8080. I knew a lot of these sounds were the super saw oscillators made famous by the Roland JP-series. However, on Carte Blanche what exactly is the feedback osscilator-1? I see that osslicator-2 is a saw but is it a 5 or 10 voice oscillator. I know the Virus Ti and Waldorf Kyra can also do super saw oscillators. Are there any other synthesizers that can mimic this sound. As in, I can't imagine a Prophet or Moog doing these types of with analog subtractive synthesis. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I grew up with these songs and I've only started production and currently learning synthesis. I have both the Virus Ti2 and Kyra. Hence, I would like to do something similar.

It really is still the best trance synth to this day, and the only plugin I have heard that actually finally sounds like it is the Chro-8080 for Reaktor. Forget Superwave (they were good 10+ years ago, for sure), Sunrizer (SO overrated), and so on. If you don't have Reaktor, your best bet if you are on Windows is still JP6K plugin, but I am on Mac, so the real thing or Chro is my only choice hehe. Love Sami's work btw, it's ttoz from KVR, just saying hi Sami! PS would love to see you make some epic presets for Chro 8080!

It’s not even close. Gaia 2 uses sampled waves so you get the “machine gun effect” and it’s sounds like the waveforms are spectrum limited so they lack good high end information. I think the Gaia 2 is a wasted opportunity and a huge disappointment.

@AiynZahevSounds2 жыл бұрын
Oh you know I always wanted a V-synth and I had hoped it could do the 8080 sound for real. You don't think it does? I've heard one other person day the same. My time with the 8080 gives me the impression it's a real one off, no one would make a synth like this today with the power available from processors. The sound engine in the 8080 seems like it was programmed in strange ways due to extreme limitations, I think that's why it has such a unique character.
@theMIDImaniac2 жыл бұрын
@@AiynZahevSounds Just bought the sound pack and I will make a video of it and perhaps I will replicate the sounds on the V-Synth to make a kind of comparison. The V-Synth can do a lot but somehow the 8080 has indeed a unique sound.
