Ok so uhm I have a BIG ISSUE... When I first downloaded csp a month ago I was using the symmetry ruler and... I didn't know how to disable it when I was done and... I may have just deleted it off the face of my account. It's just not there and as a mainly character designer this is very worrying and stressful. I don't know what to do can anyone help? I can't seem to find it in the asset store at all

As long as you're on a fairly recent version of CSP, you can re-add deleted tools by right-clicking on any other tool in that list and selecting "Add from default". Go to Ruler -> Create Ruler -> Symmetry Ruler. I've got a short video that shows how to do this in more detail too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZyriKOno8qjn80

Great video! I just rave one question about the layer mask: how is this helpful, like, what could I make with this ? I get a little bit confused
@MsRedNebulaArt
@MsRedNebulaArt 6 күн бұрын
There are all sorts of things you can do with layer masks. I mostly use them to constrain part of a layer, like for instance, a masked layer on multiply that I'm only using to add shading to a character's hair. You can also hide part of your art without deleting it, if you aren't sure whether you'll need that part later, or fade out the artwork in a gradient. I hope I'm explaining it all right - there's a lot you can do with this feature!

I've been having a problem on my mac where the text edit tool isn't working. Whenever I create and a text box and start typing it unselects and closes the text edit tool. Everything is up to date and I can't seem to find any solutions. I'm on 1.0

Ok so we know how to combine shapes. But how would you go about cutting shapes out? Like the Substract Shape would work back in photoshop? I need to make a transparent hole in my vector fill and I'm not sure how to make it work.
@MsRedNebulaArt
@MsRedNebulaArt 15 күн бұрын
Sadly, subtracting shapes isn't something that's possible using vectors at the moment in CSP - it's not a vector program, just a program with some vector features. What you can do, though, is create a layer mask to cut out the hole. Layer masks are raster-based only, unfortunately, but it's the best way I can think of to achieve what you're looking to do.

Hello, I was wondering on how we can use vector line art while creating symmetry. (imagine you put the ruler on center, making left and right symmetry) I've noticed you can't do line edit (Points tool) the lines together in vector lines. I have heard someone bypass this by setting up macro that 1. selects the entire current layer 2. copies and pastes it 3. horizontally flips it 4. and then merges down with the original layer Source (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKmVpJ-aq5ijp9k) on 0:57 This person somehow was able to create a perfect symmetry this way, and I don't know how they do it? I've searched around and couldn't figure it out. I could try to manually duplicate, flip it, and try to match the line but it's never a perfect symmetry as I might be four pixels off. When I color both sides using symmetry rule with a normal brush, it definitely shows that it's not a perfect symmetry as the color bleaches out of the vector lines I made. I hope this reaches... I would appreciate any tips or guides to follow

nevermind, I figured it out. Just set up a ruler on the center of the canvas first, and draw anything on the otherside (keep the opposite side empty/erase it) first go to window > Auto action > create new auto action set 1. click on the red button to record the auto action. 2. while recording, select the entire layer (ctrl+A) > duplicate > select the duplicated layer > flip horizontally *symmetrical duplicates only works if started with the ruler set on the center of the canvas in the first place* 3. press the red button again to save the recording Now you can go back and use the auto action through the play button. you can assign auto actions to keyboard shortcuts in the shortcut settings

Thank you for staying simple and keeping tutorial beginner slow. Many of these tutorials have lots of great information but the problem is they go too fast and seem overestimate the amount of clip studio knowledge the audience might have.

I started animating before three weeks, and was very affraid becouse I was thinking that ewen editing is too hard for me, but maan. Editing is maybe a lil' bit boring, but animating is SUPER FUN. I was drawing a grass in savanna with copying and milion efects and others and spend at least 10 hour and not being happy with the result. But making OWN brushes?? I have one word: INSANE. Thank you soo much. You are only one who can teach you something in easyest way and you are not evil for not teaching others like most of creaters are and you deserve the best! 🙏

thank you, Ms.RedNebula!! 🥺❤️ i used CSP for years (mostly for illustration, but lately i've been using it more for comic) and most tutorials bored me because of the repetitive tips. but here, i learned soooo much! your tutorial (especially the way you teach and edit the video to show the menu, ui and all) is THE MOST thorough, detailed, directional, and easy to follow amongst all CSP tutorial videos out there!! 😆👍 hence i've been repeatedly watching some of your videos in the past few weeks. big kudos!! ❤️🙏🙏 (p.s. i also put them all in an "actually helpful art tips" playlist to rewatch in case i forgot hahaha)

A cel will keep showing for every frame that there's not another cel, so if you want one cel to show for multiple frames, move the cel next to it over at least one frame. I hope that makes sense, it's tricky to explain in text!
