I follow your steps for both this and the "creating custom brushes" videos, but the brush I create doesn't take my subcolor the way I intend, It sticks to black and white.

The layer's expression color must be set to grey when you register the tip for the brush to use your selected color and subcolor. If you need more detail, I go over it in my Troubleshooting video at this timestamp: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6a8fGdno5igrdE

Hi, i don't know if i'm missing something, but my brush does NOT use both my main and secondary color like it does for you at 0:40 for instance. I'm using an image of a simple grass blade that blends from black to white (bottom to top) in grayscale. I don't understand why it doesn't work. Do you have any idea ?

Nevermind, I found it. Just unitck "blend colors" in the brush parametres. I spent hours looking for a solution and missing this. Ah

I cannot see color jitter in the settings.

What version are you on? Also, make sure you're on a brush tool; if you go into the sub tool details for, say, the text tool, you get different options.

@@MsRedNebulaArt 1.9. Every Brush I tried doesnt have the option.

@@Anonymouthful Ah, okay. It looks like the Color Jitter setting was added along with a major brush tools update in 1.10.10. The update notes are here: www.clipstudio.net/en/dl/release_note/ Sorry about that!

@@MsRedNebulaArt Well it cannot be helped unless I get a newer version.

I'm trying to make a simple grass brush- but no matter what I do I can't seem to make it turn into the primarily colour I have selected? I tried registering the colour in greyscale, but it just turns into the colour I had used to make it. Doesn't seem like any of the settings I mess with in the sub-tool detail menu changes things. Do you have any idea of what I'm doing wrong? My process: Create the material using (hard with pressure) brush. Make the layer greyscale. Register the material. Create the brush. Add the material. Use it- It's in the green I used and won't change colours.

Hm - it sounds like you're doing it right, but the main thing that keeps the colors from working right is to be sure the layer's expression color (in the Layer Property palette) is set to "Gray" - it won't work if the layer is just done using shades of black, grey, and white. I go over that in my troubleshooting video, along with a few settings to check if your colors still aren't working as you'd expect: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6a8fGdno5igrdEsi=ktb9hnu-diMQAdUA&t=40

Hi ! Thank you for the video ! Easy to follow as a non-native English speaker. I'm trying to find a way tu use the base brushes like the rope one and keep the inside transparent but it seems that it can only be white or another color for the sub one. Is there a way to fix in the parameters of a pre-existing brush that the line should be black and the inside transparent ? Don't know if I'm clear 😅 Thanks for your help
