It's similar to the story of the lady of the lake from near where i live. A lake called Llyn y fan fach. The legend tells of a young cow herder who sees a beautiful young woman emerge from out of the debths of the glacier lake. He takes her home, marrries her and they have two sons. After slighting her three times, she returns to the lake with all her fairy cattle. The weirdest part of the story is that her two sons grew up to be two of the most famous healers in Wales, the physicians of Myddfai.

The most haunted part of this area is the one way split roads between the turn off from bluebell hill and Burham. Used to work at the Golden eagle there and witnesed very strange events at around 1 am through this strange little lane on the way home on my motorbike,,,,,fact. Including muiltiple engine cutouts till i pushed it to the end of this particulary quite place.

If you believe his tale under hypnosis, it sounds like most ancient stories of fairy abductions and even the Marian Apparitions of Fatima in 1917. However, his photo is so bad it is practically worthless as evidence.

I'm such a weirdo that I seem to be able to comment on almost all paranormal stories with a personal anecdote, so forgive me! I was staying in a friend's spare room once when i was in my 20s. It was a fully shelved out room (3 of the walls were wooden boxed) and filled with stuffed toys. Already a weird setting I agree! But then I noticed a clown doll in one of the top boxes start to lean forwards towards me. It promptly seemed to sniff and wipe it's nose with one of it's sleeves, before it just seemed to stare down at me with a cheeky grin on it's face. A total stereotype scenario i agree, but im almost certain it did happen. What did I do? What i normally do after a weird experience and my hair has stopped standing up. I say to myself, "er yeah, what the fu**! I have no idea"!!!

There are some interesting comparisons between Shuttlewood and John Keel. The use of a torch to signal to the U.F.Os, The strange phonecalls, and even the accusation of embellishing the story. Another chief character in the story was Peter Paget. A self styled U.F.O guru and resident of Star house, a local meeting place for enthusiasts at the time. Paget and Shuttlewood eventually fell out and parted ways. Paget seems to have a colourful past and a flamboyant nature, Purchasing a top of the range Lotus sports car at the time, with money that no one seems to know the origins of, but suspect to be donations for U.F.O research. The car is mentioned at the beginning of his book The Welsh triangle, a book he is criticised with fabricating and embellishing the story once again. A good source of information is the book Warminster, cradle of contact.

Thanks. I used to walk through the cemetery as a short cut on the way home from school, decades ago. There was a section of the fence I could get through at the time. I actually managed to blag a job there as a gravedigger for 3 months during a very cold winter. I used to eat my lunch in a freshly dug grave to keep out of the cold. I never saw anything untoward, but I don't think I'm receptive to such things.

Given the time period, both Farrant and Manchester's story would make for a good comedy horror. I'm thinking Sid James and Charles Hawtrey in the lead roles.
