I grew up there, started going when I was 2 back in 1997 and my last year was 2012. I performed on stage there at 10 years old, was in the cast in 2010, worked at many booths, met my wife there, etc. So much has changed from what the faire was when I woke up but I'm glad to see some has not. I have since moved...love from WY

5:08 Please do NOT wear a money belt like this. A money belt is supposed to be worn UNDER the pants and/or shirt so it is HIDDEN. You keep backup credit /Debit /ATM cards, excess cash (if carrying), and your passport. Maybe paper tickets like for plane or Eurail pass. You do NOT go into the money belt in public. Think of it as a 'hidden safe' for your backup cards/cash. In your wallet (kept in a pock that is secure - buttons/velcroed/zipped) you keep your primary Credit Card and ONE day's worth of cash only, plus a photo ID (ie drivers license/student ID card). Use your wallet for daily transactions. If it gets stolen, you have everything else safe in your money belt to continue your trip. A money belt or any other small bag for valuable kept on the OUTSIDE in plain view is just showcasing where your valuables are being kept and making it easier for thieves to rob you/pickpocket you.

I keep it hidden when I feel pulled to. Fear attracts things to fear. In my 7 years of traveling I've never had any problems :) but everyone should do what they feel pulled to do

Guatemala Dental Group, father and son, Guerras, paralyzed/PERMANENTLY DAMAGED my inferior alveolar, mental, lingual nerves. ...SEVEN WEEKS of EXCRUCIATING PAIN...DYSFUNCTION ASSOCIATED STRUCTURES. $1450 to UNDO...The MOST BLATANT DENTAL MALPRACTICE I have witnessed in an exemplary DENTAL CAREER. Yes, I too am a DENTIST. Imagine if they can do this to a dentist...YOU!
@ASightToSee2 ай бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear that you had that experience. I hope others will read your comment and avoid that practice. I share your anger with bad dentists. My mom recently had all of her teeth pulled after a dentist 'fixing' her 14,000$ worth of root canals. They completely damaged her nerves and took all of her money. And now she's too afraid to even go back and get dentures.

Bit of a silly question but how do I book a hostel? Is there any specific websites you would suggest? 😀
@ASightToSee3 ай бұрын
Not silly at all! Hostelworld is very popular BUT they take the biggest "booking fee" I've found. Booking.com is mainly what i use. And sometimes, to get the best rate, I'll search for hostels on those sites, but then find their own website and book directly. You usually get a discount! 😁

Problem with hostels is guys constantly trying to get sex. I imagine that is so much more more common in party hostels.
@ASightToSee4 ай бұрын
Honestly I'd say, they are what you make it. Sure, there will definitely be guys like that, but I'm always VERY clear about my intentions with people, and it's always been respected. Seek out a safe friend group and people will watch over you. Like when I'm working at one, or a guest even, I'm ALWAYS looking out to protect anyone who looks uncomfortable in a situation. There will always be creeps, but you might meet your new best friend at one too!

Hi! I’m planning a dental trip in Antigua as well and wondering how did you turn your money to their currency? And what was the name of the dentist office
@ASightToSee4 ай бұрын
Hello! That's so exciting! So for this procedure I just used my travel credit card (to avoid international transaction fees). But you could also use your debit card to take money out of one of their ATMs (always try to use one's in or attached to banks) and the machine does the exchange for you. Thankfully a lot of places in Antigua take card. The place I went to is called Bestintown/Smile Antigua Guatemala on Google maps. It should have a 5 star rating, and I do highly recommend them :)

Pretty sure you're thinking of a different hostel. There was multiple living rooms, we didn't take deposits and we would take off/put on sheets for the guests (which i personally hated as unpaid staff, working more hours then i was told i would) There were multiple hostels in Bratislava though.
