my cousin was working over there, since it's kind of an old family legend that we descend from viking raiders, dna confirms I'm 25% Scandinavian 25% eastern European(russian since that's what my grandma speaks) and half native on my dad's side, regardless my cousin and I used to play "vikings and Indians" (a game of our own devising since vikings are cooler than cowboys) he loved metal detecting too so growing up in new England loving vikings we were always hoping to find a viking axe or spear or seax or smthn proving they lived here, we found a spear once, hard to tell who it belonged to, wasn't native since it was iron and had wings, definitely European, regardless he worked over in Scandinavia, France, England/Scotland, and iceland, for years, he eventually quit which was starnge since that was his dream job, I asked why, he said he cldnt tell me, I'm like "u didn't try to take something home w u did u??" He says "no nothing like that, i j cldnt do it anymore, the stuff we found vs the stuff they write and publish was completely contradictory, skeletons 6 ft tall, chainmail, helmets(which if u know there's officially only been "1" mainly intact helmet found), scale armour, many many swords, seaxs, axes, arm and leg armour that is steel strips?(look up viking splinted leg armour as of now it's controversial but according to m cousin they found a fuck ton and never reported any of it, he said he personally found ab 150 swords, ab as many helmets, hundreds of axes and seaxs, splinted armour, evidence of multilayered garment for under chainamil aka gambeson, scale armour, and all of it was shipped off quickly after it was unearthed, he made an off hand remark like "oh what museum do they take all this stuff to id like to see them all when they're cleaned and on display" his boss looked at him and said "they aren't going to a museum and you won't see them again we will not discuss this again or you will be fired" he was baffled(and for good reason) after that he said he cldnt do it, he didn't know if they were being hidden in a museum basement or destroyed he leaned more towards the first tho, im kinda telling his story so forgive my paraphrasing but the stuff in quotes is as he told it to me to the best of my memory, he had some things he brought back after he quit, ive seen them, I won't say what any of it is cause I don't wanna get him in trouble, but I will say the official narrative of just poor farmers who went raiding is complete bs, u mean to tell me English kings could put down peasant revolts but cldnt stop norwegian peasants?? I never understood that, if they were no different than the English or French peasants how did they stomp most of Europe, the mediterranean, the rus, and have them cowering for 500-600 years??? What made these poor farmers different than the poor farmers that were already there, they were superior in battle bc they weren't poor farmers, many were trained from childhood with spear, shield, axe, and sword, they towered over the others around 5'10-the tallest he ever found was 6'7 but these men were HUGE, armed to the teeth, a small group was a formidable fighting force, this is what made Europe cower, not a bunch of poor farming dwarves bc as I previously stated, the kings of the day had to squash rebellions all the time they were used to shitting on armed and angry farmers, but the vikings were different, if u farm for a cpl months and raid, pillage, plunder, murder, and war for the rest of the time, can u be called a farmer??? As I was told by my cousin I'll tell you, disregard anything you hear from ppl like the Smithsonian, the met, "big archeology" regarding the vikings, they make white ppl proud, plus they weren't diverse 99% of em were white the other 1% were traders not raiders and most were Sami, but there's a lot of money and effort going into making the vikings look like poor, angry, little men, almost like they want white ppl to have no pride in their ancestors, or pride in their color, as i said im hslf native(my father is sicangu lakota/ w a little crow in there i believe cld be cheyenne ill have to ask him, regadless) i have a distinctly unique view on this, i can say red power, or native power as loud as i want and ppl dgaf some may even applaud, but if i were to say white power, id be publicly stoned, they say the winners write history and since the catholic church ended up killing the last vikings i suspect theres a lot we dont know and pry wont ever know ab what really happened, but we can take pride in that our ancestors didnt care ab race, religion, country, creed, or anything else, if u had something valuable and with that thing the vikings could feed their family thru the winter, u were a dead man. Theres power in that, and in their blood. Which still flows thru our veins. Which i suspect is why theres a msssive smear campaign against white ppl, i mean think ab it whites didnt invent slavery, all they did was buy some blacks from slave markets that were thousands of years old(some of which ARE STILL OPEN TODAY) and the whites being the first to make it illegal bc its abhorrent get no credit for that, they are in the early stages of oppressing us we need a viking age 2.0

I have three things! 1) Beautiful looking pouch/satchel 2) How come you didn't put your wraps around your feet as well as your calves? 3) Is there any evidence for turnshoes with two toggles? I've only come across single toggle shoes myself.

Y'know, I figured I'd just let you know that a lot of these links are no longer available. I would really like an updated list for this just as much, if not more, as the viking video's list of items.

This is not a klappvisor. This is a sitten bascinet. The chin is way more exposed. At least from what I interpreted. Still new to armors, but from what I understand, people often mistake helmets for others. This is one of those examples. The other day, I came across images calling a visored barbuta, a bascinet helmet. It is not.
