Gas companies require the tanks to be tested and there is a cost for that. Also they won't refill competitors tanks,and they won't refill the larger sizes because those are leased. You have to open an account.
@PranaTechКүн бұрын
These rules you have stated are for your specific area where you live. Here in the west they exchange your small or large tank for a full one. No leasing. Everyone owns their tanks outright. And when you go to exchange your tank and it happens to be out of date for the hydrostatic test, they just add $15 to the bill to cover the test. No hassle, just simple business. I’m usually in and out in 15 minutes with my full tanks. 😊👍

@@PranaTech Tanks are required to be tested every 5 years per DOT regs and stamped. They won't refill unless tank is current. Too much liability for them. In my area they charge $40 for the test (they take your tank and exchange it for a tested one.) It takes time for them to test the tank, and if it doesn't pass they eat the cost for scrapping. They also replace the valve if needed.

Good morning! Everything you have stated in your comment is exactly true. There is one exception and that is if the tank has a star stamped next to the hydrostatic test date. This means that it has a ten year interval instead of the normal 5 years. All of this information is contained in my video.😊👍

Is this the same foam that is used in foam insulation. What chemicals are used to make the foam.
@PranaTech10 күн бұрын
Hi Terry, it is not the same foam as insulation. It is basically a concentrated formulation of dish detergent that produces a thicker foam like shaving cream. The chemicals in the one that I recommend are about the same as Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo. Very mild and harmless. The company is called Vermillion and here is a link.www.vermillionassociates.com/varimax-concentrate.html 😊👍

@@PranaTech Thanks for the reply. I also watched your video of making the foot pedal for your Yes Welder. I have the S-7 250p welder coming. Not much info on it. Can you tell me what the pulse means on a TIG machine. I have 50 years experience with TIG Stick and MIG but not familiar with these new electronic machines. I have a Miller Econo Tig but it only goes up to 130 amps on tig and I am having trouble using the remote pedal. Seems I have to fully depress it to get the amperage to ramp up then it is wide open. I'm not sure if your pedal can be adapted to the S-7 machine but will know more when it gets here. Do you know if I can just use my Digital volt meter and hook it between the electrode and ground to measure what my amperage really is at the torch? I have already checked the resistor in the pedal and it seems to be working. BTW you did an excellent job on the pedal. Thanks for sharing it with us.
@PranaTech13 сағат бұрын
Hi Terry, sorry for the delay in my response. I am usually much better. The S-7 welder from what I can tell doesn’t support a foot pedal. It looks like it only has a 2 pin hookup on the front of the welder which means it only activates the arc at whatever amperage the panel is set at. If yours has 5 pins or more on the front of the welder, then let me know and I’ll try and figure out a pedal option for you. The miller pedal issue could be the potentiometer in the pedal or the main board of the welder. Here is a link to SSC pedals site. They have a lot of information on how to test your pedal. ssccontrols.com/product/c810-1425-tig-welding-foot-control-pedals/ Here is also a link to their site to identify which pedal you have. ssccontrols.com/product/c810-1425-tig-welding-foot-control-pedals/ I hope this helps and please let me know if I can help in any other way. 😊👍 Don

Hi there. I installed a new pump and can make 95 gr/ltr. However, within 10-15 minutes the foam starts to transform back to liquid, resulting in reducing of foam volume quite fast. I tested the supplied water, the result is a TDS of 158 only. I have the same issues with purified water, at similar speed to get back from foam to liquid. In my tests glycerine added to the solution based on AOS or SLES, it rather shortens the lifetime of foam, both times. The waters used should be considered as soft waters, correct. I'm located in Philippines (see my profile details) and getting my hands on agricultural marker foam, it seems not in this country. Waters used for solution and slurry are 25 C degrees, more or less. Can you reach out with some advice based on your knowledge, knowhow? Many thanks in advance.

Now where the hell are you going to get them filled? At least up here in New England no one I've found will fill customer owned gas cylinders over 80cf. I've been renting gas cylinders for close to 30 years now at the outrageous price of $75 a cylinder per year, because unless I get the little 80cf cylinders and pay a fortune per CF of gas no one will fill customer owned gas cylinders at least within say a 100 miles of me. I actually own a couple 80cf cylinders but the cost to fill them is outrageous compared to 330cf cylinders I rent from my LWS.

Hello Don. I was wondering what happened to your foamcrete projects, incl the hemp adding method. Best foaming agents are the agri marker foam concentrated liquids, like Drexe and equivalents. But I'm in a country where such is unavailable. Dishwashing and shampoos, added with glycerine, they stay runny, while it looks nice shaving foam at 95 gr/liter, water runs out too fast and then the foam reduces its volume. From rather steady foam, it becoumes mousse, not ok to mix with slurry. It collapsed for 50% in volume in the mold. Now, you're a firefighter, correct. Will any of these firefight foams be okay to use instead of say agri marker foam? I tried a solution with AOS, but so far it doesn't keep its volume of foam for few hours. Currently SLES is ordered, perhaps this gel substance does the job to prolong the lifetime of foam volume. My foam gun is 1.5"×20" and has 6 SS scrubbers. A modified sink drainer keeps the scrubbers in the pvc pipe, cheap and effective. Any suggestions are welcome, my struggle seems to be where to get a foaming agent that sustains long enough....

@johnmacmillan627Ай бұрын
Hi Don, this is the response from YesWelder: process. However, when using a spool gun, the wire feed mechanism is separate from the main unit, which can lead to discrepancies between the machine's preset parameters and the actual wire feed rate. This mismatch may result in less accurate settings and affect weld quality.

Thanks Don👍 I sent the question to Yeswelder. I’ll let you know what they say. Cheers!

Hi Don, another bloody question😡 The instructions that come with this welder state that you have to have syn OFF when using a spoolgun. I found this a little odd as when using the spoogun the syn seems to be on when I set the trim etc. What is your experience with this? Also, is there a way to change the wire feed speed to ft or inches rather than meters per min? In the manual mode in my machine the setting is in meters

Hi John, I never turned it off when I welded with the spoolgun so I don’t know why they would want you to turn it off. Greetings again, Don When I look at your settings chart for 4TL I need some clarification. Say, for example, settings for 1/8 in material I see 19 volts and 134 amps. Are these settings just a baseline that will be modified by what follows? The next setting below this is volts -3 and 150 amps. Am I correct in assuming that the -3 volts means that the 19 volts will be reduced to 16 volts for part of the cycle? Are you changing the voltage to -3 to get a longer arc length or is this change related to pulsing? I assume the increase in amps to150 amps is related to the pulse setting.
@johnmacmillan627Ай бұрын
Perhaps I am wrong about the amp settings. Is the initial high amp setting because the metal is cold and when you let go of the trigger you now have +3 volts more ie 21 volts and reduced amps to 56 amps? Or are these amp settings related to upper and lower settings for pulse? My poor brain is getting taxed to the extreme. Thx, and all the best
@PranaTechАй бұрын
Hi John! You are correct in your assessment that the higher amps of the I1 setting are for the beginning of the weld when the metal is cold and then the lower amperage at the top of the list is the steady normal amps that would work for that thickness material with 2T trigger setting. The 56 amp setting for I2 is a low amperage at the end of the weld with the second pull of the trigger in 4T to just fill the crater at the end of the weld. I hope that makes sense. 😊👍
@johnmacmillan627Ай бұрын
Thanks, Don, that info certainly helps me. Interesting that the volts were reduced when the amps were increased to compensate for for the metal being cold . I presume you found things too hot with the increased amps so the volts were pared back or was that to prevent burnback. The mode being used was pulse was it not ? So the machine sets the pulse parameters automatically ? You are a wealth of information, Don. Thank you
@PranaTechАй бұрын
Hi John, your presumptions are all correct! These settings all came from my experiments going both ways with the amps and volts until I was able to get the best welds. It was as you first surmised, the volts were reduced to balance the heat not for burnback. And yes, the machine automatically sets the pulse parameters for you. 😊👍

Needed a refresher on the settings of this welder as I havent used it for aluminum for quite a while To clarify…when I am on 2t pulse( not double pulse) I can set the amps and voltage. The machine sets the pulse ( amperages )parameters automatically based on what I set the amperage. Is this correct? I change the voltage based on the arc length I find best, yes? I am surprised that I can get spray transfer at such low voltage Of course I will use your settings at my stage of welding When I try the 4TL I’ll get back to you. I noticed you used a spool gun and a mig gun. Do you prefer one over the other. In closing I want to thank you for your help and for your wonderful instructional video. Without both I would have been lost. Many thanks, John
@PranaTech2 ай бұрын
Hi John! You are correct on your settings theory. Good memory!😊 If I had to pick a favorite, I would pick the spool gun for a couple reasons. One, it never jambs and two, it can be used in any position and has a longer reach than the mig gun. The MiG gun needs to be straight or close to it to keep from making a bird nest from the larger spool because it is trying to push the soft aluminum wire all the way to the torch and if you have too tight a turn on the torch, the friction will cause the wire to back up into a bird nest mess just after the feed rollers. 😱 Thanks for the kind comments and feel free to ask any and all questions and I’ll try to help.😊👍Don

Hi Austin! It takes their own pedal that comes with the welder. If you own this welder but don’t have a pedal, I have the schematic for the pedal so any 10k ohm pedal will work with it like the Yeswelder or others. You just have to swap the wires on the plug for it to work on the Hynade. If you want an upgraded pedal, SSC makes a really nice pedal that fits the Yeswelder, but they are pretty pricey! I live in Finland, Europe, and we use metrics. You showed metrics units can be chosen. Could you check if this really will switch ALL measurements in the synergic settings to metrics or just some? Also, we only have 240 Volts in Finland and in households 16 amps fuses, will the fuse be a limiting factor for a hobby user? Thanks for your clear and informative narrative, your vids are very helpful! Hoping the retail price will be affordable, maybe there will be a nice Black Friday deal on in after a few years on Amazon even here in Europe. Best regards, Ken
@PranaTech2 ай бұрын
Hi Ken! I went through the settings this morning and switched it to metric and then went through all the different processes. From what I can tell, the entire machine converts over to metric in every way. Which makes sense to me because china builds everything metric and then has to convert it to our silly imperial system to sell it here in America. Why my country clings to this silly system when the entire rest of the world has adopted a simpler system is beyond me.🤪 To the question about amperage, I run mine on a 30 amp circuit and it has never tripped a breaker. Looking at the back panel it lists the Ieff amperage @ 17.4 amps and the Imax amperage @ 34.7 The Ieff amperage is supposed to be the average while normal in use. Having welded with this and other Yeswelder units with my portable Honda generator, the welders at maximum amperage seldom reach the Ieff amperage rating. So, with this in mind, I would confidently say that unless you are planning to weld at the maximum 200 amps on a regular basis, you would be fine with your 16 amp circuit for 99% of your welding needs as a hobbyist. Let me know if you have any other questions and I hope this information helps. 😊👍Don
