you’re right - you have to prioritize self study to fill those knowledge and confidence gaps if your path is non-traditional. i started out in web development, then almost immediately became a ux/ui designer (self taught) and now i freelance as an (all-round) designer. i have the benefit of parents who are designers, so alot of fuzzy knowledge is there. these book recommendations are great and i’ll look into them. honestly i love being self-guided in my professional trajectory ☺️
@JanelleHugelАй бұрын
Totally! You have to be more intentional, but getting to choose your own focus and narrow in on the things that interest you is just one of the best things about this field. Enjoy the books!

Hi I've just found your channel and I'm enjoying your videos! I'm just wondering something - my friend designed a logo for me and picked out some brand colors for me, but the colors were all RGB - should it have been CMYK? Thanks
@JanelleHugel2 ай бұрын
So nice to hear from you! The easiest way to think about it is that the colors your friend picked out are your brand colors, but you need different labels for them in different color languages - sort of like translating the word chair from English to Spanish. It's still a chair, you just need the word in different languages. RGB color codes are used for computer screens and web use, and CMYK codes are what you translate that color into when you want to print it physically, because those are the four ink color used in printers. Also, if you've ever seen a 6 digit code that looks something like this: "#000000 - that is a Hex Code. It's actually just another way of writing RGB colors, but it's what we use as shorthand for using color on computer programs. If your friend has access to any professional design software like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, ask them if they can give you the other color codes for your brand colors. There are also some apps that will translate the numbers for you. Hope this helps!!

The US has a thing called he 13th Amendment. Working for free is against the law. Anyone requiring an employee to work for free should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

True enough! I'm specifically talking about freelancers being asked by friends or family to informally create something for free... a photographer being asked to shoot their cousin's wedding, for example.
