Businesses didn't just suddenly decide to be greedy sparky. Look at their profit margins...barely any change at all. The difference is inflation, our currency has lost a TON of value the last 3 years. So when you see "record profits" those are in Biden Inflation Bucks, and are inflated just like everything else. But the margins haven't changed. It's absolutely asinine to think companies just randomly decided to be greedy to coincide with record inflation.

⁠@@sirosis7858I think it’s asinine to assume all the businesses across all the industries are actually ran by decent people who truly want the best value and product delivered to consumers and just simply collect a reasonable profit from doing so. In reality, I think there’s some greedy bastards who have convinced themselves they’re incredibly important and intelligent and because of that they deserve to be rewarded with more and more money from their investments. Any dip in profits they get bitchy. Inflation occurs, they change prices to ensure their profits aren’t threatened by inflation, meaning consumer bears that burden, then when inflation is chilling out they think “well people have been paying these higher prices, if our costs go down but prices stay the same people will still buy it and we make more” and apply that thinking to Walmart or whatever grocery chain, how many folks have good alternatives? People on a large scale will not know where to get local food and shit, that’s by design too. Big chains been pushing out mom n pop grocery stores from every little town for decades. Same with Amazon beating small business by eating lower prices and absorbing losses on other products. It’s fine to be pro business and all, but don’t be arguing on these little topics and just blaming the government? Yeah there’s challenges with supply and what not but it’s gotten better since Covid fucked stuff up, and you’d be insane to think all the businesses that did report record profits are just going to drop prices when the market relaxes, there are some businesses with a fuckload of influence on that market and they know it and use it. Ever heard of lobbying?

Hey barn talk I’ve got a lengthy question for you guys I hope I can get some advice on. My dad and his brother currently are still milking about 65 cows in a tie stall barn and running around 300 acres of land. Me and my brother have no interest in keeping the dairy herd around but want to raise beef and still farm the land. We can see both dad and uncles health declining and becoming harder for them to keep up with day to day tasks on the farm and keeping everything in good shape. They are old timers and haven’t invested in any technology since they took the farm over. What is the best way to communicate with that them selling the dairy heard might be the best thing for the farm financially and health wise? We are thinking turning the milk barn into a custom meet processing facility or calve barn. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
