An ARM didnt create the crises in 2008. What caused it is that anyone could buy a house without proving income. Like if you had a good credit score you could buy a house. Then mortgage companies would also take the money and invest in the stock market. So there was not the regulations that are today

....Sorry, Shelby, but this video did not work.....good therapy show..........but raise the bar...................amp up with a real estate-related video..............this dr. phil wannabe pablum is a waste of band-with....(the main channel program on solar panels was superb)..............also, plan the podcast with a structure of some sort.......item or topic list......then rehearse.........just a thought.....

At least the Eaton fire was caused by a power plant. There is actual footage of someone affected showing how the fire started spreading from the tower.

You can get into flow state doing basically anything. Just eliminate distractions like she said, and be conscious (aware) of your breathing and/or your thoughts, and you will enter into a contemplative state… now you’re in flow. Don’t think, just be 💫

I’m glad you are safe, away from the smoke and your apartment isn’t in danger, Shelby. ❤ I do the same with most podcasts except I will literally skip the first 30 minutes because it seems it’s more “teasers” before that, talking about what they’re going to talk about!! 🤔

Ironic how you talk about skipping ahead 8 minutes to the meat of others’ podcast episodes when it was 8 minutes into this podcast when you basically started your flow content. Good work though nonetheless and wishing you luck among ALL the other millions jumping on the podcast train.

Distraction is a big challenge for me in getting into the zone. Something I've found helpful is to have a youtube ticking clock video playing on low volume though earbuds. It just seems to help me to settle my mind and focus.

Interesting and yet again very glad to have youtube and youtube people as a result knowing about these rains which i did not know about nor is anyone else to my knowledge bringing up let alone talking about. I'm amazed how long i have been on youtube now everyone used to be so much younger "back then" well over ten Years now (so did i of course) but yes fire breaks matter of course but so do proper mitigation in the build process and correct materials in particular of course roofing materials where ahem *"simple sparks"* ahem (burning embers) can travel enkrmous distances to continue to start more fires. I have no doubt there are top flight experts on this matter out that way and elsewhere (in particular Italy which has actice volcanos to go with a similar climate) my only personal building experience was in building retaining walls in the Washington DC area to improve the value of the property by creating vastly more property in an area and time when the value of said homes and physical real estate was crazy high...and people had the money to spend as well. Doing that taught me there was far more value to the idea as did of course travelling to Asia where they have been building arable land right up the side of an active volcano going on thousands of Year. The problem in DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia was the exact opposite of Southern California namely extreme amounts of rain in very short period of times in places that had highways everywhere which created extreme amounts of runoff from said rain which created at times and regularly absolutely *AWESOME* amounts of flooding in a very short period of time...think of a small version of the Truckee River during run off Season. *"Water goes straight up in a matter of minutes."* These retaining walls therefore had instant and obvious benefits from a safety of the property namely in retaining water instead of creating instant run off. I've said for a long time following wildfires as just one of many matters that impact and annihilate property that show up on KZbin "your house takes up the whole property that is a mistake." Again there are actualy professionals who can speak to this far better than me especially out there but this is no *"expedient"* as they say just built a modest one where i am currently residing now actually and this is purely to protect from a natural disaster one which has happened directly over my head and the very modest property(ies) here. Stay safe out there. There are solutions that need not be some crazy expensive thing...sure can be tho😊😊

I get into flow state working on tasks for my publishing company. But I have a goal to try both tennis and golf to incorporate health but also have better work/life balance. I agree that I don’t really get into flow state with running or even working out. It’s more of me pushing myself to actually do it as opposed to the enjoyment or actually reaching flow state.

Hi Shelby, I haven't commented in a long time, but I just wanted to say I really am enjoying your podcast. I also wanted to mention that I 100% agree about vacations. I find that the most spontaneous trips are the funnest, and sometimes the more planned out ones are not as fun (yet so exciting to plan). I think the caveat to that is the people who you vacation with. I find that if I plan a trip with people I haven't seen in a long time; It's always super fun. Perhaps the reason for that is I haven't seen these people in a long time thus making it different.

Let’s get one thing perfectly clear. The Great Los Angeles Fire of 2025 is not a “natural disaster.” Pompeii being covered in lava was a natural disaster. The Dust Bowl of the 1930s was a natural disaster. Hurricane Katrina was a natural disaster. Hurricane Helene was a natural disaster. Natural disasters occur when extreme and unusual forces of nature overcome mankind’s reasonable ability to detect and prevent the consequence of such natural forces. No, the Great Los Angeles Fire of 2025 was and is a man-made disaster. Santa Ana winds and harsh, dry conditions have ALWAYS been characteristics of the Southern California climate. In decades past, California’s leadership had policies and capabilities in place that were able to prevent and snuff out the fully foreseeable brush fires of the Hollywood Hills without them turning into the city-destroying inferno we have witnessed the past few days. But then came along the modern Democrat Party, and years of mismanagement as follows: -Woke policies on freshwater management that deprived the state of its abundant, available freshwater resources in its time of need. -Woke policies on desalinization that similarly left a viable source of freshwater off the table. -Woke forestry policies that leave forests and underbrush as tinderboxes. -Woke illegal immigration and homeless policies that make crazed arson more likely. -DEI hiring policies that promote gross incompetence and negligence in infrastructure management as well fire fighting capabilities, all so the Democrats can proudly proclaim how many lesbian firefighters they have who can’t save a man in a burning house. THESE ARE ALL DELIBERATE CHOICES. The Great Los Angeles Fire of 2025 was and is a man-made disaster, and the idiots who created and caused this man-made disaster need to be held to account.

I am also glad that you are ok. It is really sad with the fires. I hope they will contain them soon. It is nice that you have started your podcast - and I do like that you get to the subject fast. Even though I like to hear people talk about their lives and how they have been, a lot of people do drag it out and sometimes don’t end up talking so much about their topic. Regarding flow state - the times I believe I have had my best flow state is when I draw - that is something that I love. And when that right flow hits that is when I have drawn my favorite pictures.

For me to get into Flow State I usually have to have a lot of things lined up . I will usually have to have my surroundings clean, be freshly showered, not hungry, and a good cup of coffee will help. I can tell when I'm in Flow State when I do everything in such a way that I'm unstoppable. Where every decision, every movement, and everything that comes next in a task just works. Some people refer to this as being locked in! I'm liike Bradley Cooper in that movie Limitless. Where he gets his new dose and everything just starts working as if you are God at what you do!

I think a blanket distaste for politics does more harm than good. People don’t bring up politics to politicize the victims or families impacted - it’s to highlight negligence and harm created by those in power. Someone else already mentioned climate change making weather more extreme. Climate change is literally fact, but it becomes political when certain politicians and parties vehemently deny it exists, or deny its impact. The fire department budget cuts, also political. Local and state politics matter and touch every aspect of our lives.

Blame it on climate change. Never mind these fires happen seemingly every year. Governor/ mayor don’t have to take any responsibility for not requiring folks to reduce shrubbery, don’t build in vulnerable areas etc.

I hate everything being politicized, as well. Everyone is saying it doesn’t matter because they are wealthy. It’s still a very traumatic situation and they still lost things like pictures, special items, pets, even some people lost lives. When the flood went through WNC, it was also politicized and very ugly things were said because a lot of people in that area are poor and they weren’t prepared for a flood. They voted red and they deserve it. WHY can’t people just be compassionate and look at how to help without thinking about who they voted for or how much money they have or don’t. Maybe one day America will come together. 🙏
